Robert Plant wins Album honors at Americana Music Awards

There’s no question Robert Plant’s Band Of Joy has helped shine a light on Americana music, and the former Led Zeppelin singer was honored by the community last night at their the 10th Annual Americana Music Honors and Awards event in Nashville.

Plant picked up the Album Of The Year for the "Band Of Joy" release, and his co-producer/band leader Buddy Miller was honored in two categories: Artist Of The Year and Instrumentalist Of The Year.

Miller has now won 12 AMHA honors over the years.

Robert received the award from The Black Keys’ Dan Auerbach, and he shared the stage with his Band Of Joy crew while accepting the prize.

The singer said that he had been “dreaming about American music and coming over here” since he was 12. “I stole a great deal with my old companions,” Plant added, “and I was very fortunate (in) the last few years to be welcomed by some spectacular people, especially in this town.”

Among the other honorees were Gregg Allman, who received the Lifetime Achievement Award; Mumford & Sons snagged New/Emerging Artist, and Justin Townes Earle picked up Best Song Of The Year for “Harlem River Blues.”
