A few hours after the new broke, Slash offered up his comments on the induction.
“Thanks for all the R&RHF mentions, It’s quite an honor to be inducted,” posted Slash.
Following the original nominations back in late September, Slash spoke with Billboard about the possibility of GNR entering the Hall and what the institution means.
"It's become very prestigious over the years, and it's become a huge honor for anybody to be inducted into it -- or even nominated, for that matter," said Slash. "It's a cool accolade, I suppose. Obviously we're in really, really great company."
At the time, Slash said he hadn't spoken with any other GNR members about the nomination, and that he was trying not too think too much about how the original quintet - which hasn't played together since 1991 - would handle its induction.
"Of course, you have those thoughts of how it might work in case it does happen, but with Guns 'N Roses, there's really no guessing exactly how it will go,” said the guitarist. “I suppose if it happens, everybody will get some sort of ducks in order. But I think the first thing to do is wait and see if we actually get inducted, because you know how unpredictable that is.”
And now the fun begins…can GNR pull it together to play the April 14 event in Cleveland, which is open to the public and will be filmed for broadcast by HBO in early May.
Stay tuned…
