Sammy Hagar to celebrate four decades of rock

2013 will mark 40 years since the release of the debut Montrose album with Sammy Hagar on vocals, and the Red Rocker has announced what may be the first of many huge bashes to celebrate his four decades in rock.

Hagar’s September 1 date at the Lake Tahoe Outdoor Arena at Harvey's in Stateline, Nevada is being billed as featuring everything “from Montrose to the Beach Bar Rum Bash.”

Sammy says “This is a prototype to the type of thing I want to take on the road next year, so I promise it to be the party of a lifetime!”

Here’s the event’s schedule as posted by Hagar:

• The show will open with Ape, Sammy's new favorite psychedelic surf band wth live tiki carving.
Sammy & The Wabos will then play a set
• Then Michael Anthony will join in for The Other Half Van Hagar set
• [Short intermission]
Denny Carmassi, Bill Church and Sammy for a Montrose tribute featuring Joe Satriani
• If we get an encore, Michael Anthony will join Sammy, Joe Satriani and Denny Carmassi for a little Chickenfoot.
• The party will continue with an aftershow party at the Cabo Wabo where Ape will do a live show and finish the tiki carving with some special guests.

Tickets for the September 1 date go on sale this Saturday, May 5 – for full details, check Sammy’s site here.

From Montrose to solo to Van Halen to solo to Chickenfoot (and a few other projects along the way), Hagar has never really taken a break from his output of live and recorded music over the past four decades.

Chickenfoot kick off their 2012 Different Devil tour this weekend in Lake Tahoe; the 6-week trek wraps June 10 in Los Angeles. Following the September 1 event, Hagar will then perform his annual Birthday Bash series of shows in Cabo San Lucas, Mexico.
