"This is a different side of entertainment for me," says Hagar. "I shut up and listen now."

Chickenfoot premiere Divine Termination video

Chickenfoot have released a video for “Divine Termination”, a new song included on the band’s forthcoming compilation, “Best + Live.”

The clip features footage of the group performing the live debut of the tune last spring during a pair of reunion shows at Harrah's Lake Tahoe.

The concerts marked the first time in years that Sammy Hagar, guitarist Joe Satriani, bassist Michael Anthony and drummer Chad Smith had regrouped to perform a full show; the outfit last toured in 2012 in support of their second album, “Chickenfoot III.”

Due March 10, the two-disc “Best + Live” presents tracks from the group’s two studio albums alongside audio from a 2009 concert in Phoenix, AZ originally only available as video on the 2010 DVD/Blu-ray "Get Your Buzz On."

"Listening to this collection of songs from the ‘Foot brings back memories of some of the most fun I've ever had in a band,” says Hagar. “The chemistry between Chad, Joe, Mike and me is very special. It's almost like visual music -- you can see us having fun when you listen to these songs."

AUDIO: Chickenfoot stream new song Divine Termination

Chickenfoot are streaming their new single, “Divine Termination”, ahead of its appearance on the March 10 release of their compilation, “Best + Live.”

The supergroup of Sammy Hagar, Joe Satriani, Michael Anthony and Chad Smith debuted the tune last spring during the band's two reunion shows at Harrah's Lake Tahoe.

The two-disc “Best + Live” package presents tracks from the band’s two studio albums alongside audio from a 2009 concert in Phoenix, AZ originally only available as video on the 2010 DVD/Blu-ray "Get Your Buzz On."

"Listening to this collection of songs from the ‘Foot brings back memories of some of the most fun I've ever had in a band,” says Hagar. “The chemistry between Chad, Joe, Mike and me is very special. It's almost like visual music -- you can see us having fun when you listen to these songs."

Chickenfoot’s ability to regroup for live shows and recording has been a challenge based on the schedules of its members, with Hagar touring solo and with Anthony in The Circle, Satriani’s solo albums and tours and Smith’s work with the Red Hot Chili Peppers.

After disappointing sales for their first two records, a frustrated Hagar revealed in 2014 that the group had no plans to record albums in the future.

“Going through the whole experience with a record label,” explained Hagar, “and then going out and doing 150 interviews, a big tour and waking up at 4:00 a.m. to go on Howard Stern all to sell 35,000 CDs…It starts to feel like, ‘Hmmmm. Is this pay for play?’"

“I mean, I love making music,” he added. “But doing it on Chickenfoot's level means spending a half million on a record. We write and record for six months. It's a lot of work, and then to not sell many records. It's disappointing. I don't like being disappointed. I like winning.”

Chickenfoot’s 2009 debut achieved gold status for US sales of 500,000, while the sophomore effort failed to hit that mark; it did, however, earn a 2012 Grammy Award nomination in the “Best Recording Package” category.

VIDEO: Chickenfoot debut new song at reunion shows

photo: Bradley Starks

Chickenfoot debuted a new song, “Divine Termination”, on May 7 during the first of the band's two reunion shows at Harrah's Lake Tahoe.

“We're taking a big chance playing this,” frontman Sammy Hagar told the crowd. “The first day of rehearsal we played it and I put it on my Instagram and I just put the last chorus.”

Hagar previously revealed plans to debut the tune sometime this year.

"I wrote the lyrics while on an airplane to Cabo," Hagar told Rolling Stone last fall. "It's a dark tune, but it's cool. It's a really raw production and a giant step for the 'Foot."

The May 7 & 8 concerts in Tahoe marked the first time in years that Hagar, guitarist Joe Satriani, bassist Michael Anthony and drummer Chad Smith have regrouped to perform a full show.

The supergroup last toured in 2012 in support of their second album, “Chickenfoot III.”

Hagar credits Satriani with keeping the lineup together and moving forward.

"Joe really keeps Chickenfoot's foot on the fire," explains Hagar. "He really wants the band to stay together, and we have definitely not broken up."

VIDEO: Chickenfoot rehearse for upcoming reunion shows

Chickenfoot are sharing footage of rehearsals for a pair of upcoming reunion shows at Harrah’s in Lake Tahoe this weekend.

The May 7 & 8 concerts will mark the first time in years that Sammy Hagar, guitarist Joe Satriani, bassist Michael Anthony and drummer Chad Smith have regrouped to perform a full show.

The supergroup last toured in 2012 in support of their second album, “Chickenfoot III.”

In 2014, Hagar revealed Chickenfoot fans shouldn’t expect a third album by the band, saying “I don't see any reason to make a new record. Going through the whole experience with a record label, and then going out and doing 150 interviews, a big tour and waking up at 4:00 a.m. to go on Howard Stern all to sell 35,000 CDs…It starts to feel like, ‘Hmmmm. Is this pay for play?’"

Satriani recently confirmed the group recorded a new song called “Before I Die.”

"We're the slowest-working band in history; we take forever,” he said. “But there is stuff happening, and we're still laughing and communicating."

Hagar has been busy with his latest supergroup, The Circle, which includes Anthony; Satriani is currently on tour in support of his latest album, “Shockwave Supernova”; and Smith continues to record and perform with the Red Hot Chili Peppers.

Chickenfoot add second reunion concert

Supergroup Chickenfoot have added a second reunion show this spring due to “overwhelming fan demand.”

The sold-out May 7 date at Harrah's Lake Tahoe will now be followed by a May 8 appearance at the venue, marking the first time in years that Sammy Hagar, guitarist Joe Satriani, bassist Michael Anthony and drummer Chad Smith have regrouped to perform a full show.

A fan club presale – including VIP packages – starts March 15 (code: FOOTSOLDIER) with general public tickets available March 18 at 10 AM PDT via Ticketmaster.

Chickenfoot last toured in 2012 in support of their second album, “Chickenfoot III.”

Since then, the members have been busy with other projects: Hagar with his latest supergroup, The Circle, which includes Anthony; Satriani is currently on tour in support of his latest album, “Shockwave Supernova”; and Smith continues to record and perform with the Red Hot Chili Peppers.

Chickenfoot to reunite for spring concert

Supergroup Chickenfoot will reunite for a one-off show this spring.

Billed as Cinqo De Foot, the May 7 date at Harrah's Lake Tahoe will mark the first time in over six years that Sammy Hagar, guitarist Joe Satriani, bassist Michael Anthony and drummer Chad Smith have regrouped to perform a full show.

The band last played a surprise 3-song encore at Hagar's 2014 Birthday Bash in Las Vegas.

A fan club presale including VIP packages starts March 2 (code: FOOTSOLDIER) with general public tickets available March 4 at 10 AM PST via Ticketmaster.

Chickenfoot’s self-titled 2009 debut achieved gold status for US sales of 500,000, while the sophomore effort failed to hit that mark; it did, however, earn a 2012 Grammy Award nomination in the “Best Recording Package” category.

In 2014, Hagar revealed Chickenfoot fans shouldn’t expect a third album by the band, saying “I don't see any reason to make a new record. Satriani recently confirmed the group recorded a new song called “Before I Die.”

"We're the slowest-working band in history; we take forever,” he told Northwest Music Scene.

Sammy Hagar clarifies status of supergroup Chickenfoot

Sammy Hagar is clarifying recent comments he made regarding the status of supergroup Chickenfoot.

Last week, Hagar told Rolling Stone that fans shouldn’t expect a third album by the band, saying “I don't see any reason to make a new record. Going through the whole experience with a record label, and then going out and doing 150 interviews, a big tour and waking up at 4:00 a.m. to go on Howard Stern all to sell 35,000 CDs…It starts to feel like, ‘Hmmmm. Is this pay for play?’"

Hagar was asked to clarify his comments on the red carpet prior to hosting the 2014 Classic Rock Roll Of Honour awards show in Hollywood on Tuesday.

"I would [make another Chickenfoot album], but it's just too much work right now,” Hagar tells Vintage Rock. “I mean, I love Chickenfoot — it's my favorite band, but I just don't see us getting together and making a record right now. Everybody's got so much to do. Joe is in freakin' Australia right now."

Hagar recently released his first acoustic album, “Lite Roast”, and was asked if he will continue to record solo albums moving forward.

"Yeah, but I make kind of fun, easy things,” he explains. “Chickenfoot records are difficult, 'cause we've gotta get together, we write, and we work, and we write, and we work, and it's really, really tough.”

“It's not like… I just did an acoustic record of a bunch of old songs — Van Halen songs, early Sammy songs, and I put them in an acoustic [format] — and it was fun, it was easy,” he continues. “I did it in a week. I like doing stuff like that. That's where the music industry is to me now. It isn't about going and spending a million records on a record and selling 125,000 copies, it's more about doing something like you like to do. 'Oh, I've got a great song. I'm gonna give it to the fans.' Or, 'I'm gonna put it up on the web site and make a video.' It's just about, for me, experimenting and having fun."

Chickenfoot’s self-titled 2009 debut achieved gold status for US sales of 500,000, while the sophomore effort failed to hit that mark; it did, however, earn a 2012 Grammy Award nomination in the “Best Recording Package” category.

The band reunited to perform the encore at Hagar’s belated birthday bash concert in Las Vegas on October 18 – check out video from the event here.

Sammy Hagar: No more Chickenfoot albums

Sammy Hagar is telling fans not to expect any more albums by his supergroup Chickenfoot.

The project – which includes guitarist Joe Satriani, bassist Michael Anthony and Red Hot Chili Peppers drummer Chad Smith – released their self-titled debut in 2009 and their second album, “Chickenfoot III”, in 2011.

Hagar now tells Rolling Stone, “Joe is my favorite writer to work with since Eddie [Van Halen]. I'd rather write a record with him than anyone else, but I don't see any reason to make a new record. Going through the whole experience with a record label, and then going out and doing 150 interviews, a big tour and waking up at 4:00 a.m. to go on Howard Stern all to sell 35,000 CDs…It starts to feel like, ‘Hmmmm. Is this pay for play?’"

“I mean, I love making music,” he adds. “But doing it on Chickenfoot's level means spending a half million on a record. We write and record for six months. It's a lot of work, and then to not sell many records. It's disappointing. I don't like being disappointed. I like winning.”

Hagar’s remarks contradict those made this summer by Satriani, who said a third album by the band will happen.

"It is in the pipeline," revealed the guitarist. "Everyone's got demos, everyone's excited. I don't know about the schedule though. That is still — as usual — in the chaotic Chickenfoot state."

The band’s 2009 debut achieved gold status for US sales of 500,000, while the sophomore effort failed to hit that mark; it did, however, earn a 2012 Grammy Award nomination in the “Best Recording Package” category.

Chickenfoot reunited to perform the encore at Hagar’s belated birthday bash concert in Las Vegas on October 18 – check out video from the event here.

Sammy has just released his first acoustic album, “Lite Roast.”

The project sees Sammy teamed with Waboritas guitarist Vic Johnson to deliver stripped-down versions of tunes from Hagar’s lengthy career.

VIDEO: Chickenfoot reunite for Sammy Hagar birthday bash in Las Vegas

Chickenfoot reunited to perform the encore at Sammy Hagar’s belated birthday bash concert on Saturday at the Downtown Las Vegas Events Center.

The group played “Sexy Little Thing” from their 2009 debut and “Big Foot” from 2011’s “Chickenfoot III” before being joined by Nickelback frontman Chad Kroeger for Led Zeppelin’s “Whole Lotta Love” – featuring Jason Bonham on drums and Chad Smith on guitar.

The evening wrapped with a version of Zeppelin’s “Rock And Roll.”

For more footage from the show, click here.

This summer, guitarist Joe Satriani shared an update on the status of Chickenfoot, saying that a third album by the band will happen.

"It is in the pipeline," said Satriani. "Everyone's got demos, everyone's excited. I don't know about the schedule though. That is still — as usual — in the chaotic Chickenfoot state."

Chickenfoot update from guitarist Joe Satriani

Joe Satriani is sharing an update on the status of Chickenfoot, the supergroup that also features Sammy Hagar, Michael Anthony and Chad Smith.

The guitarist says a third album by the band is in the works.

"It is in the pipeline," Satriani tells Artisan News. "Everyone's got demos, everyone's excited. I don't know about the schedule though. That is still — as usual — in the chaotic Chickenfoot state."

Chickenfoot released their self-titled debut in 2009 and their second album, “Chickenfoot III”, in 2011.

Juggling the band member’s schedules has been the group’s biggest challenge.

Satriani and Hagar have maintained solo careers with new album releases, while drummer Chad Smith’s commitments to the Red Hot Chili Peppers prevented him from joining Chickenfoot for live dates in support of the band’s second album; the group brought in Kenny Aronoff to handle drum duties in his absence.

Joe Satriani to perform national anthem at Oakland Raiders home game

Guitarist Joe Satriani will perform the US national anthem at Oakland Stadium on Sunday, November 24 before the Oakland Raiders host the Tennessee Titans in NFL football action.

The game kicks off at 1:05 PDT (4:05 ET).

In July, Joe played the anthem at the Red Bull U.S. Grand Prix in Laguna Beach, California (watch it here); in April of 2011, Satriani and Chickenfoot bandmate Sammy Hagar did the anthem at AT&T Park in San Francisco prior to a San Francisco Giants home game (see it here)

Last month, Satriani wrapped up a North American tour in support of his latest album, “Unstoppable Momentum.”

Joining Satriani on the road were veteran bandmate Mike Keneally (Frank Zappa, Steve Vai) on keyboards, along with a new rhythm-section featuring bassist Bryan Beller (Dethklok, Dweezil Zappa) and drummer Marco Minnemann (Adrian Belew, Steve Wilson).

This spring, “Unstoppable Momentum” debuted at #42 on the Billboard 200 charts with first-week sales of around 11,000 copies, marking Satriani’s highest US chart debut in over 20 years.

Sammy Hagar launches new album with radio special

Sammy Hagar is launching his new album, “Sammy Hagar And Friends”, with a nationwide radio special entitled “The Sammy and Mikey Happy Hour Radio Show,” featuring the Red Rocker’s pal and Chickenfoot bassist Michael Anthony.

Last week, fans were invited to send in questions for the pair to answer on the recorded program, which will also include calls from many special surprise celebrity guests.

A list of the radio stations and broadcast dates “The Sammy and Mikey Happy Hour” is available here.

The special promotes the September 24th release of “Sammy Hagar & Friends”, the singer’s first solo release in five years.

The project sees Hagar team up with a variety of artists, including Kid Rock, Nancy Wilson (Heart), Ronnie Dunn (Brooks & Dunn), Neal Schon (Journey, HSAS), Chickenfoot pals Chad Smith, Michael Anthony and Joe Satriani; Montrose bandmates Bill Church and Denny Carmassi, his solo band The Wabos and more.

The album will be available in a standard edition package, as well as deluxe edition packaged in a high-gloss digipak.

The deluxe CD/DVD package includes an exclusive bonus audio track, "Space Station #5", recorded live at the Ronnie Montrose Tribute Concert held on April 29, 2012 in San Francisco, as well as the "making-of" album documentary which includes bonus video of "Knockdown Dragout", and more.

VIDEO: Joe Satriani answers fan-submitted questions on tour

Joe Satriani recently invited fans to submit questions during his current “Unstoppable Momentum” North American tour, and now the guitarist has issued a video with the first round of responses to fan inquiries.

Satriani is continuing to accept questions via his social media sites.

Joining the guitarist on the road are veteran bandmate Mike Keneally (Frank Zappa, Steve Vai) on keyboards, along with a new rhythm-section featuring bassist Bryan Beller (Dethklok, Dweezil Zappa) and drummer Marco Minnemann (Adrian Belew, Steve Wilson).

The tour sees Deep Purple guitarist Steve Morse opening shows to October 3; Sit Down Servant will handle all Canadian dates between October 4 and 19, and Living Colour will appear October 22 to 26.

This spring, “Unstoppable Momentum” debuted at #42 on the Billboard 200 charts with first-week sales of around 11,000 copies, marking Satriani’s highest US chart debut in over 20 years.

Satriani recently concluded a two-month European tour that followed the album’s release in May.

Sammy Hagar premieres Bad On Fords And Chevrolets ft. Ronnie Dunn

Sammy Hagar is premiering “Bad On Fords And Chevrolets” featuring Ronnie Dunn (of Brooks & Dunn), a track from his forthcoming album, “Sammy Hagar & Friends”, due September 24.

Hear “Bad On Fords And Chevrolets” at Billboard here.

“Sammy Hagar & Friends” marks the Red Rocker’s first solo release in five years and sees him team up with a variety of artists, including Kid Rock, Nancy Wilson (Heart), Ronnie Dunn (Brooks & Dunn), Neal Schon (Journey, HSAS), Chickenfoot pals Chad Smith, Michael Anthony and Joe Satriani; Montrose bandmates Bill Church and Denny Carmassi, his solo band The Wabos and more.

“Bad On Fords And Chevrolets” was one of the first of the new tracks for the project and also put the guest concept in motion for the project.

"When I listened to his [Dunn's] vocal, he sang it so good and he's such a great singer, I said, 'Will you sing a couple of verses and do a duet with me’, and he did,” explains Hagar. “After that it started looking like a duets record. I started calling all my friends and said, 'Let's get together and do this, let's get together and do that,' and everyone responded and it started coming together little by little."

“Sammy Hagar & Friends” will be available in a standard edition package, as well as deluxe edition packaged in a high-gloss digipak.

Hagar is currently on the road playing dates across North America.
