VIDEO: Soundgarden – New album update

Soundgarden have spent the last month playing shows on the European festival circuit.

The band recently released “Live To Rise,” their first new song in 15 years; the tune is featured on the soundtrack to the box office smash, “The Avengers.”

A full Soundgarden album is expected later this year.

Guitarist Kim Thayil gave fans an update on the project’s status during an interview last weekend at the Download festival.

“We’ve finished recording a new album,” begins Thayil. “It’s mixed, it’s in the process of being mastered. The artwork is also coming together, and scheduled release is for October.”

Asked if the album has a title yet, Thayil says, “No. And that would facilitate doing the artwork…if we had a title to work with. We’ve thrown out a lot of ideas but we haven’t nailed one down yet.”
