Metallica will screen their 3D film, “Through The Never”, at the Fantastic Fest in Austin, Texas on September 25 at 7:00 p.m.
Fantastic Fest is the largest genre film festival in the U.S., specializing in fantasy, sci-fi, action and horror films and is a truly unique and groundbreaking festival.
The event is held each year at the Paramount Theater and the Alamo Drafthouse Cinema, which was recently named the best cinema in the U.S. by Entertainment Weekly.
"We do have a few surprises scheduled for you in Austin,” posted the band, “so keep watching for more details coming soon!"
“Through The Never” tells the story of a band crew member named Trip (played by Dane DeHaan) who is sent out on a mission during Metallica's live set in front of a sold-out arena: to meet a disabled truck and retrieve a particular item. However, the routine task turns into a surreal odyssey when Trip's van is hit by another vehicle, and he subsequently finds himself up against a death-dealing horseman. As Trip flees through desolate streets, he has only his wits to help him avoid the deadly horseman and deliver Metallica's cargo.
The movie will make its world premiere at the prestigious Toronto International Film Festival on Monday, September 9 at 7:30 PM.
Metallica recently announced the first public screening will take place at the historic Christopher B. Smith Rafael Film Center in San Rafael, California on Tuesday, September 17th. The special kick-off event happens prior to the 36th annual Mill Valley Film Festival.
“Through The Never” will then debut in IMAX theatres across North America for a one-week engagement starting Friday, September 27, before it expands into additional theatres on October 4.
