Eddie Van Halen is suing a contractor for damage to his Los Angeles home, according to TMZ.
In the lawsuit filed Monday by Van Halen's family trust, the guitarist claims Troy Builders Group was hired in 2008 to do a remodel and construction, but the project was rife with major problems ... most relating to waterproofing.
According to the documents, Eddie claims the contractor’s work included poor drainage, leaky roof and chimney, poorly installed gutters and flashing, all of which caused water to flow into the home.
Van Halen claims his house suffered mold damage, not just on wood surfaces, but in his elevator shaft, as well.
Eddie has reportedly spent more than a million dollars to repair the damage and is suing the builder for the cash plus interest.
The guitarist is among the personalities featured in “The Life Of Man,” a new piece in Esquire as the magazine commemorates their 80th anniversary.
The feature’s purpose is to create a living portrait of the American man right now. It showcases exclusive photos and video of 80 accomplished, extraordinary men, one born in each year of Esquire's history.
