Metallica have posted a rare, extensive video press package for their 1998 covers/compilation album, “Garage Inc.”
Directed by Adam Dubin ("A Year And A Half In The Life Of Metallica"), the 50-minute “Electronic Press Kit” (EPK) was released on a couple of “Whiskey In The Jar” singles back in 1999. The package features interviews and behind-the-scenes raw footage of the making of the record, including recording, mastering, photo shoots and more.
Over 2.5 million copies of "Garage Inc." have been sold in the U.S. It includes cover songs, B-side covers, and the "The $5.98 E.P.: Garage Days Re-Revisited", which had gone out of print since its original release in 1987.
The project’s title is a combination of "Garage Days Revisited" and Metallica’s song "Damage, Inc." The album features songs by artists that have influenced Metallica, including many bands from the New Wave Of British Heavy Metal movement.
Metallica recently announced the early 2014 release of their latest project, the 3D concert film “Metallica Through The Never.”
The set will be released on DVD, Blu-ray, 3D Blu-ray, digitally, and V.O.D. (Video On Demand) in North America on January 28 (for international dates, click here).
The DVD, Blu-Ray and 3D Blu-Ray will include extensive behind-the-scenes footage from the making of the film, including an 80+ minute “Making of Metallica Through the Never” documentary directed by Adam Dubin and including two never before seen chapters.
