Metallica: Record stores to host Blackened Friday midnight album release

Almost 100 record stores across North America will host events at midnight on Thursday, November 17 for the official release of Metallica’s tenth album, “Hardwired…To Self Destruct.”

Billed as “Blackened Friday” in honor of the group’s own record label – and a week before the annual US Black Friday retail event – Metallica advise “stores will be stocked with music, prizes and cool giveaways”, while “during normal business hours, additional stores will be hosting Blackened Friday events with music and more giveaways as the celebration continues.”

For a list of participating stores, visit blackenedfriday.metallica.com.

Produced by Greg Fidelman, guitarist James Hetfield and drummer Lars Ulrich, “Hardwired…” marks the band’s first full studio album since 2008’s “Death Magnetic.”

The package was first previewed in August with the lead track, “Hardwired.”

Ahead of the Blackened Friday events, Metallica will be Europe during release week and will make appearances in Berlin, Germany on November 14, in Paris, France on November 15 and London, UK on November 18.
