Van Halen: Unreleased Runnin With The Devil remix surfaces

An unreleased remix of the Van Halen classic, “Runnin’ With The Devil”, has surfaced online.

“Van Halen Fans rejoice!,” writes YouTube host Groovefunkel Second Helping. “As a huge Van Halen fan, it gives me great pleasure to share this remix which features an alternate ‘Diamond Dave’ vocal AND an extended guitar solo. Made from the original 24-track session masters.”

The audio stream follows a similar one of “Dance The Night Away” shared by the same user in 2017; the latest post launches Groovefunkel’s second YouTube channel, which will feature “alternate versions, instrumentals, stripped down session mixes, demo recordings and other rarities.”

The second single from Van Halen’s 1978 self-titled debut helped the project reach US Top 20 status while eventually selling more than 10 million copies in the country.

The 2020 remix surfaces as David Lee Roth prepares to launch his Las Vegas residency at the House Of Blues at Mandalay Bay Resort And Casino with a three-show run that starts January 8; the rocker will join KISS for dates on that band’s The End Of The Road farewell tour when it resumes in Manchester, NH on February 1 before playing more residency shows in March and rejoining the KISS trek in the fall.

Van Halen have been on an extended hiatus since the completion of a 2015 tour, with recent reports indicating that guitarist Eddie Van Halen is being treated for throat cancer.

Van Halen were named the No. 2 Rock News Artist Of The Year and delivered the No. 2 and No. 10 Rock News Stories of The Year as part of the 2019 hennemusic Rock News Awards.
