2020 Rock And Roll Hall Of Fame induction ceremony postponed

The upcoming Rock And Roll Hall Of Fame induction ceremony has been postponed as the coronavirus continues to spread.

The May 2 event at Cleveland’s Public Auditorium was to see The Doobie Brothers, T. Rex, Depeche Mode, Nine Inch Nails, The Notorious B.I.G. and Whitney Houston honored as the Class of 2020.

“We are very disappointed to announce the postponement of this year’s Rock and Roll Hall of Fame Induction Ceremony,” Rock and Roll Hall of Fame President Joel Peresman said in a statement. “Our first concern is to the health and safety of our attendees and artists and we are complying to the direction of the local and state authorities and common sense. We look forward to rescheduling the ceremony and will make that announcement at the earliest convenience.”

To be eligible for nomination, an individual artist or band must have released its first single or album at least 25 years prior to the year of nomination.

Ballots were sent to an international voting body of more than 1,000 artists, including current living Inductees, historians and members of the music industry. Factors such as an artist’s musical influence on other artists, length and depth of career and the body of work, innovation and superiority in style and technique are taken into consideration.
