Van Halen: New album enters UK charts

Van Halen’s new album, “A Different Kind Of Truth,” entered the UK charts with a #6 debut this week.

Unfortunately, hype won out over substance in Britain, as manufactured pop star Lana Del Rey held on to top spot for a second week, ahead of new albums by Maverick Sabre, Paul McCartney and Van Halen.

All eyes are on the Billboard charts as Van Halen wait to see if they secure a US #1 debut.

Industry sources suggest that “A Different Kind of Truth” could be a #1 album for the band, with speculation that it may sell about 180,000 to 200,000 copies in its first week, lining up a battle with Adele.

The UK singer has maintained Billboard #1 for a while now, with her “21” album currently enjoying her 19th non-consecutive week on top.

The new Billboard chart information will be available on Wednesday.

Also ahead for Van Halen is the start of their US tour, which kicks off this Saturday (18) in Louisville, Kentucky.
