Last week, Aerosmith guitarist Brad Whitford shared some news about the band’s forthcoming new album, including information about the project’s possible first single.
"We've got a new song that's gonna be used in a major motion picture this summer, so that's probably the first new music fans will get to hear,” Whitford told The Times News. “We may even debut it on American Idol in May.”
Now, Steven Tyler has provided some more details on the track.
When asked if Aerosmith would be performing on Idol, Tyler replied, “Ya. We already wrote that song and gave it to G.I. Joe. It’s going to be in the movie. It’s called ‘Legendary Child.’”
The film “G.I. Joe: Retaliation” is set to star Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson and Bruce Willis, among others; it will be in theatres on June 29.
As for the song, it some has Aerosmith history: it was originally recorded during the sessions for the band’s 1993 album, “Get A Grip.”
The new Aerosmith record is expected later this year.
