Green Day top US charts with Revolution Radio

Green Day have topped the US album charts with their twelfth album, “Revolution Radio.”

Billboard reports the project debuts at No. 1 on the Billboard 200 with opening week sales of 95,000 equivalent album units, of which 90,000 were in traditional album sales.

“Revolution Radio” marks the San Francisco Bay Area band’s third US number one following 2004’s “American Idiot” and 2009’s “21st Century Breakdown.”

Green Day recorded their latest album at OTIS, frontman Billie Joe Armstrong’s new studio in Oakland, CA.

The group are currently playing dates on the Revolution Radio North American club tour, which opened at the Newport Music Hall in Columbus, OH on September 26.

The band will begin a European tour in January before kicking off an arena run across North America in Phoenix, AZ on March 1 with guests Against Me!
