Rock News Artist of The Year No. 7 – STEVE PERRY

Former Journey singer Steve Perry resurfaced in 2018 with the release of his first album in almost 25 years.

Previewed with the lead single, “No Erasin’”, the singer’s long-awaited solo return, “Traces”, debuted in the US Top 10 in October.

As Perry continued to promote the record into 2019, he made headlines in January when former Journey bandmate Neal Schon publicly invited the rocker to join him at the launch of his upcoming "Journey Through Time" tour in February, a reunion that, ultimately, did not take place.

Perry issued a deluxe edition of “Traces” in March, which had been expanded with the addition of five songs; the package arrived in sync with the singer’s first official music video in nearly 25 years for the track “We’re Still Here.”

More singles followed before Perry released a new version of the all-time Christmas classic, "Silver Bells", in November as part of newly-issued holiday EP of the same name.

Last month, Perry and Journey members Neal Schon and Jonathan Cain were named among the nominees under consideration for entry into The Songwriters Hall Of Fame; The Hall will host its 51st Annual Induction & Awards Gala in New York City next June.
