Just days after news that he’d been fired from Stone Temple Pilots, singer Scott Weiland kicked off his solo tour on Friday in Flint, Michigan, as scheduled.
MLive reports Weiland didn't have much to say about the matter during his sold-out show at The Machine Shop.
Instead, he let his catalog of music do the talking - and despite a few slip-ups, his fans were completely fine with it.
"For first shows, you just have fun," Weiland told the crowd. "...So we're just going to play rock and roll, because we're a rock and roll band."
The show was the first stop on Weiland's "Purple To The Core" tour, which sees him and his band The Wildabouts playing classic songs from the STP's first two albums, "Core" and "Purple."
As for STP, the band released a statement last week announcing they had officially “terminated” Weiland from the band, while the singer responded by saying, “Not sure how I can be ‘terminated’ from a band that I founded, fronted and co-wrote many of its biggest hits, but that’s something for the lawyers to figure out.”
