Alice In Chains cover Fairies Wear Boots at Black Sabbath farewell event

Alice In Chains delivered a cover of the Black Sabbath classic, “Fairies Wear Boots”, at the legendary UK band’s farewell event this past weekend.

The track followed the Seattle outfit’s own "Man in the Box" and "Would?" as the third and final song in its set, which followed a pre-taped performance of a cover of the Ozzy Osbourne track “Mr. Crowley.”

“Fairies Wear Boots” was the b-side to the single, “After Forever”, from Sabbath’s second album, 1970’s “Paranoid.”

Recorded in London and produced by Rodger Bain, the project delivered Sabbath its first No. 1 on the UK album charts.

Billed as “Back To The Beginning”, the event saw the farewell performances by Ozzy Osbourne and Black Sabbath at the city’s Villa Park, where they were joined by a number of guest artists paying tribute to the influential heavy metal band.

Jerry Cantrell releases I Want Blood video

Jerry Cantrell has released a video for the title track to his latest album, “I Want Blood.”

The video features Guns N’ Roses bassist Duff McKagan and Faith No More drummer Mike Bordin, who both played on the song featured on the Alice In Chains rocker’s fourth solo record.

Co-produced by Cantrell and Joe Barresi (Tool, Queens of the Stone Age, Melvins), “I Want Blood” was recorded at Barresi’s JHOC Studio in Pasadena, CA.

The album also features contributions from Robert Trujillo (Metallica), drummer Gil Sharone (Team Sleep, Stolen Babies), and backing vocals from Lola Colette and Greg Puciato (Better Lovers, ex-Dillinger Escape Plan).

The “I Want Blood” clip arrives in sync with news of Cantrell’s newly-announced US tour, which has tickets going on sale Thursday, May 22 at 10AM local time.

Cantrell and Alice In Chains are next scheduled to appear on the bill for the Ozzy Osbourne/Black Sabbath farewell event in Birmingham, UK on July 5.

Jerry Cantrell has announced a new round of US tour dates in support of his latest album, “I Want Blood.”

The month-long run – with guests Filter – will open in San Diego, CA on August 16, with dates wrapping up in Kansas City, MO on September 14.

General public tickets will go on sale Thursday, May 22 at 10AM local time.

Co-produced by Cantrell and Joe Barresi (Tool, Queens of the Stone Age, Melvins), “I Want Blood” was recorded at Barresi’s JHOC Studio in Pasadena, CA.

The album features contributions from Duff McKagan (Guns N’Roses) and Robert Trujillo (Metallica), drummers Gil Sharone (Team Sleep, Stolen Babies) and Mike Bordin (Faith No More), and backing vocals from Lola Colette and Greg Puciato (Better Lovers, ex-Dillinger Escape Plan).

Alice In Chains drummer shares health update after show cancellations

Alice In Chains drummer Sean Kinney is sharing an update on his health status after he experienced a medical emergency that resulted in the cancellation of a series of spring concert dates.

The drummer's issue surfaced after soundcheck before the group’s May 8 show in Uncasville, CT, with the Seattle outfit announcing it as “non-life threatening”, before ultimately shutting down the US tour.

Alice In Chains issued a update today by sharing a statement from Kinney on social media.

"THE GOOD, THE BAD & THE WTF?,” began Kinney. "Firstly, to everyone who came out to the Mohegan Sun show and was affected by the short-notice cancellation, and to everyone who had tickets to come see the band at one of the other shows, thanks for your understanding. It's not lost on the band and myself that you spend money, make plans and alter your schedules to come and see us, and it's deeply disappointing to have had this happen.

"I was very much looking forward to getting back out there and playing with the band again, and it's been a difficult but necessary decision to make. I don't personally utilize social media and I'm not particularly fond of my health issues being made public, but I understand that people are concerned.

"When the doctors advised me against playing in the short-term, I quickly went through The 5 Stages of Grief:

1. Denial (I'm fine) 2. Anger (F*** this - I'm still going to play) 3. Bargaining (What's it gonna take for me to hear a better diagnosis?) 4. Depression (This sucks) 5. Acceptance (This sucks, but okay)

"I finally concluded that medical doctors with many hard-earned degrees on their walls might know a bit more about health than a musician with some shiny spray-painted records on his wall.

"The outpouring of love, concern and well wishes has been both extremely humbling and very much appreciated.

"The good news is that I'm going to be fine and I'm going to live. The bad news (for some of you?) is that I'm going to be fine and I'm going to live."

Alice In Chains are next scheduled to appear on the bill for the Ozzy Osbourne/Black Sabbath farewell event in Birmingham, UK on July 5.

Alice In Chains cancels tour as drummer experiences medical emergency

Alice In Chains has cancelled all of its spring tour dates due to a medical emergency issue experienced by drummer Sean Kinney.

“After our soundcheck this evening at the Mohegan Sun Arena, Sean experienced a non-life-threatening medical emergency,” shared the group on social media on Thursday, May 8. “We unfortunately have to cancel tonight’s show. We sincerely apologize for the inconvenience. Refunds are available at the point of purchase.”

The Seattle rockers updated fans on social media a day later, saying "After careful consideration and following the advice of medical professionals, we have made the decision to cancel our upcoming festival performances and the Alice In Chains headline shows. While we were all eager to return to the stage, Sean's health is our top priority at this moment. Although the issue requires immediate attention, his long-term prognosis is positive. We sincerely appreciate your understanding and support during this time."

While Alice In Chains has cancelled its spring series, they are next scheduled to appear on the bill for the Ozzy Osbourne/Black Sabbath farewell event in Birmingham, UK on July 5.

"This record is a serious piece of work. It's a mother****er," says Cantrell. "It's hard, no doubt, and completely unlike 'Brighten'. And that's what you want, to end up in a different place. There's a confidence to this album. I think it's some of my best songwriting and playing, and certainly some of my best singing.”

Co-produced by Cantrell and Joe Barresi (Tool, Queens of the Stone Age, Melvins), “I Want Blood” was recorded at Barresi’s JHOC Studio in Pasadena, CA.

Jerry Cantrell has announced dates for a North American tour in support of his new album, “I Want Blood.”

The Alice In Chains rocker is sharing the news in sync with the October 18 release of the project.

“I’m bringing I Want Blood to venues across North America next year with special guest Filter,” says Cantrell.

The series will open January 31 in Niagara Falls, ON, with dates wrapping up in Seattle, WA in early March.

Pre-sale tickets are available starting Wednesday, October 16 at 10AM local time, with general public tickets on sale Friday, October 18 at 10AM local.

Jerry Cantrell releases video for new single Afterglow

Alice In Chains guitarist Jerry Cantrell has released a video for “Afterglow”, the latest single from his forthcoming album, “I Want Blood.”

The rocker worked on the clip with award-winning artist Matt Mahurin, whose work is noted for blending realism with abstract and surreal elements; Mahurin’s photographs are on permanent display at The Metropolitan Museum of Art.

"The incredible Matt Mahurin and I created a moving piece of film to accompany the song," says Cantrell. "Check it out. If you want blood, you got it."

"Two of my all-time favorite videos I've directed are 'No Excuses' and 'Angry Chair' for Alice In Chains in the early 1990's,” adds Mahurin. “To be able to once again offer my visual work to Jerry's 'Afterglow' some thirty years later was a blast. From opera aria to pop tune, everybody sees a movie playing in their mind's eye when they listen to a song. Jerry inspired a welcome fever dream that I was grateful to lure out of my mind's eye."

"Afterglow" follows the “I Want Blood” lead single, “Vilified”, which debuted last month; the track features guest performances from Duff McKagan (Guns N' Roses) and Gil Sharone (Team Sleep, Stolen Babies).

"Vilified" travels a lot of places in just four and a half minutes," he adds. "It's got a ferocity and really aggressive vibe to it."

Bush announce Loaded Greatest Hits North American tour

Bush will celebrate its 30th anniversary with an extensive North American headline tour.

Bush – Loaded: The Greatest Hits Tour will kick off on July 26 in Bend, OR and feature special guests Jerry Cantrell and Candlebox, while additional guests will be announced.

The series follows the 2023 package “Loaded: The Greatest Hits 1994-2023”, which delivers classic tracks and hits – including “Glycerine”, “Machinehead”, “Everything Zen” and “Comedown”, among others – from the group’s nine studio albums, as well as "Mouth" (The Stingray Mix) from the 1997 remix album "Deconstructed" and a cover of The Beatles' "Come Together" that originally saw a very limited release in 2012.

Bush has sold more than 24 million records and passed more than one billion streams as they get set to begin a fourth decade of music; the band’s latest release is 2022’s “The Art Of Survival.”

Tickets for the tour are now on sale; in order to make attendance possible for fans of every budget, a limited amount of tickets in participating markets will be as low as $19.94 (before taxes and fees), as a nod to the 1994 release of Bush’s debut album, “Sixteen Stone.”

Alice In Chains announce fall US headline shows

Alice In Chains has announced a series of headlining shows during their fall 2023 US tour with Guns N’ Roses.

The September/October run will see the Seattle rockers play eight dates of their own in sync with the GNR appearances at six stadium events.

“We’re excited to add some special headline dates while we’re out with Guns N' Roses this fall,” says the band.

Presales for the headline dates begin Tuesday, June 27, with general public tickets going on sale on Thursday, June 29 at 10:00 a.m. local time.

Alice In Chains’ most recent album is 2018’s “Rainier Fog”; the set debuted at No. 12 on the US Billboard 200 upon its release.

Cantrell and his touring band were recorded performing the song at the Grammy Museum in Los Angeles last fall as part of the album’s record release event, which mixed live music and conversation as part of a ticketed and livestreamed show hosted by actor/comedian Jeff Garlin.

The album launch performance saw Cantrell joined by many of the musicians featured on “Brighten”, which features eight new original songs and a cover of Elton John’s 1971 “Madman Across The Water” track, “Goodbye.”

Cantrell will perform two shows with Bush in late January before launching the closing leg of his US tour in support of the record in Ventura, CA in February 21.

Bush announce The Art Of Survival North American tour

Bush has announced dates for an early 2023 North American tour in support of their new album, “The Art Of Survival.”

Introduced with the lead single, “More Than Machines”, Bush recorded the project earlier this year with producer Erik Ron (Panic! At The Disco, Godsmack) after the pair worked on “Flowers On A Grave” and the title track for the group’s previous album, 2020’s “The Kingdom.”

Bush recently wrapped up an extensive US tour with Alice In Chains and Breaking Benjamin, and are ready to return to the road for more shows.

“You know we couldn’t stay away for long!,” says Bush. “New headline tour coming top of the year in celebration of The Art Of Survival record and of More Than Machines hitting No. 1 at Rock radio this week.

“We’ll be bringing some very special guests with us along the way, too, including shows with Jerry Cantrell, Candlebox, and Silversun Pickups. We can’t wait to see you all out there in 2023!”

Presale and special VIP packages will begin on Wednesday, December 7, with general public tickets on sale Friday, December 9.

Jerry Cantrell is streaming video of a 2021 Grammy Museum performance of “Siren Song”, the third single from his latest album, “Brighten.”

Billed as “An Evening With Jerry Cantrell”, the event mixed live music and conversation as part of a ticketed and livestreamed show hosted by actor/comedian Jeff Garlin.

Jerry Cantrell is sharing a live video for “Prism Of Doubt”, the latest single from his 2021 album, “Brighten.”

Cantrell and his touring band were recorded performing the song in November 2021 at the Grammy Museum in Los Angeles as part of the album’s record release event.

The clip arrives in sync with the recent release of an official video for the song and the Alice In Chains guitarist’s plans to return to the road for the closing leg of a US tour in support of his latest solo effort.

Joined by openers Thunderpussy, the series will open with three California shows in late February and wrap up in Tacoma, WA on April 1.

Jerry Cantrell has announced a series of 2023 concert dates for the closing leg of his US tour in support of his latest album, “Brighten.”

The Alice In Chains rocker will be joined by Thunderpussy for the trek, which will open with three California shows in late February and wrap up in Tacoma, WA on April 1.

Artist pre-sales are underway with general public tickets going on sale Friday, November 11 at 10:00 a.m. local time.

Released last fall, Cantrell’s third solo set saw him joined a by an extensive cast of players, including drummers Gil Sharone and Abe Laboriel, Jr. (Paul McCartney), pedal steel master Michael Rozon, Vincent Jones on piano, Wurlitzer, and organ, Duff McKagan (Guns N’ Roses, Loaded) on select bass tracks, Greg Puciato (Dillinger Escape Plan) handling all of the background vocals and Joe Barresi (Tool, Queens of the Stone Age) overseeing the mixing of the record.

The project delivered eight new Cantrell originals and a cover of Elton John’s 1971 “Madman Across The Water” track, “Goodbye.”

The guitarist recently shared a documentary about the making of “Brighten” and debuted a video for the project’s latest single, “Prism Of Doubt.”

Jerry Cantrell is debuting a video for “Prism Of Doubt”, the latest single from his 2021 album, “Brighten.”

Directed by Zoe Katz, the clip is for the track that sees the Alice In Chains rocker joined by Guns N’ Roses bassist Duff McKagan, drummer Abe Laboriel, Jr. (Paul McCartney), and pedal steel master Michael Rozon, with backing vocals by Greg Puciato (Dillinger Escape Plan).

Cantrell’s third solo record features eight new originals and a cover of Elton John’s 1971 “Madman Across The Water” track, “Goodbye.”

The guitarist is marking the one year anniversary of “Brighten” with the release of a new box set edition that includes previously unreleased live tracks from his Grammy performance, colored single vinyl, a poster, and more.

Alice In Chains recently wrapped up a North American tour with Breaking Benjamin.

Alice In Chains guitarist Jerry Cantrell is streaming a documentary about the making of his 2021 album, “Brighten”, in sync with the first anniversary of the project’s release.

“It was like an old school ‘70s record where a multitude of musicians played,” shared Cantrell last year. “So it’s not a set band. I got to make music with a bunch of people I never had before, along with friends like Duff, Tyler Bates and Gil, who I’ve worked with previously.”

Alice In Chains returns to US Top 10 with 1992 album Dirt

Alice In Chains have re-entered the US Top 10 following the release of a series of 30th anniversary reissues of their classic 1992 album, “Dirt.”

The Seattle band’s second album – which originally peaked at No. 6 on the Billboard 200 – has returned to the chart for the first time since 1994 due largely by sales of its double vinyl album, with 22,500 copies sold across its three available pressings (a widely available standard black LP, a red-colored variant exclusive to Walmart and an orange-colored LP exclusively sold through the band’s webstore), according to Billboard.

“Dirt” re-enters the US album chart at No. 9 with 26,000 equivalent album units earned (up 641%), while marking its highest position since October of 1992, when it placed at No. 8 in its second week on the list, after debuting a week earlier at No. 6.

Produced Dave Jerden and Alice in Chains, “Dirt” – which featured classic tracks like “Would?”, “Them Bones,” “Down In A Hole” and “Rooster” – went on to sell more than 5 million copies in the US alone upon its original release.
