Cheap Trick release video for new single The Best Thing

Cheap Trick has released the official video for “The Best Thing,” the new single from their latest album, “All Washed Up.”

The song follows “Twelve Gates” and “The Riff That Won't Quit” as the third featured track from the follow-up to 2021’s “In Another World.”

The late 2025 release was produced by the band and Julian Raymond, mixed by Chris Lord Alge, and recorded at various studios in Nashville (Sound Emporium Studios, Blackbird, Love Shack, Zen) as well as in LA (Sweetzerland Studios) through 2024.

“The Best Thing” arrives this week in sync with the launch of the band’s 2026 “All Washed Up Tour”; with shows currently scheduled into late April, the series includes a two night stand at The Venetian Theatre inside The Venetian Resort Las Vegas, where Cheap Trick will perform "At Budokan" - the 1978 album captured at the Nippon Budokan in Tokyo - in its entirety, along with the group's other hits.

Cheap Trick announces All Washed Up Tour

Cheap Trick has announced dates for a 2026 tour in support of their latest album, "All Washed Up."

The band will kick off the "2026 All Washed Up Tour” on Tuesday, March 3 at the Soldiers and Sailors Memorial Auditorium in Chattanooga, TN.

With shows currently scheduled intto late April, the series includes a two night stand at The Venetian Theatre inside The Venetian Resort Las Vegas, where Cheap Trick will perform "At Budokan" - the 1978 album captured at the Nippon Budokan in Tokyo - in its entirety, along with the group's other hits.

Cheap Trick's first live album, "At Budokan" went on to become the band's best-selling album, having been certified triple platinum by the RIAA. In 2019 it was chosen by the US Library of Congress for preservation in the National Recording Registry.

A collector's edition Orange Marble vinyl variant limited to 1,000 units is available to pre-order exclusively via the band's new D2C store.

Journey announce UK and Ireland tour

Journey has announced dates in the UK and Ireland as part of the band’s 50th anniversary Freedom Tour.

The series will open in Cardiff on October 30 and hit nine more cities before wrapping up at The O2 in London on November 17.

"It's been too long since we've seen you all!" says guitarist Neal Schon. "We are all very excited to be coming back to the U.K. and playing with our good friends Cheap Trick, who I've known and played with since the '70s. It's going to be a great party for all!"

An AEG presale will begin Thursday, February 29 at 10am, with general public tickets going on sale Friday, March 1 at 10 a.m.

The tour news comes just a few weeks after Journey launched the 2024 Freedom Tour shows – with special guests Toto – in Biloxi, MI.

Cheap Trick expand North American tour

Cheap Trick has expanded their North American tour schedule with the addition of a new series of fall US dates.

Currently on the road playing headline shows of their own, the Illinois rockers will next team up with Rod Stewart in early August for a month of concerts before resuming their own gigs.

And now, Cheap Trick has added a new series of October dates to the schedule.

Rick Nielsen remains sidelined from Cheap Trick tour

Guitarist Rick Nielsen remains temporarily sidelined from Cheap Trick’s fall US tour.

The band are sharing an update on the rocker, who missed a couple of dates last month ahead of the postponement of another pair of appearances.

“Six weeks ago, Rick had a procedure that has required him to stay off the road until fully recovered,” says the group. “Unfortunately, Rick still needs a little bit more time and will not be out with us this week. Robin Taylor Zander will be moving to lead guitar for the next two shows. We appreciate the continued support.”

Singer Robin Zander’s son, Robin Taylor Zander, has previously filled in on bass, drums and lead guitar for the Rockford, IL band in recent years when other members weren't available.

Cheap Trick will play shows in Sahuarita, AZ on December 9 and Indio, CA on December 10 without Nielsen; following a scheduled month-long break, the group are due to return to the stage for dates in mid-January.

Cheap Trick postpone shows as Rick Nielsen recovers from minor procedure

Cheap Trick has postponed a pair of US dates this week as Rick Nielsen continues to recover from “a minor procedure.”

The Rockford, IL band recently announced Nielsen’s health status and had singer Robin Zander’s son, Robin Taylor Zander, step in to handle guitar duties in his absence this past week for shows in Port Huron, MI and Kalamazoo, MI.

Now, Cheap Trick will reschedule appearances this week in Auburn, WA and Boise, ID to give their guitarist more recovery time, as per his doctor’s orders.

“As we stated last week, Rick has been home recuperating from a minor procedure that kept him off the shows last weekend,” says the group. “While Rick is recovering nicely, he is being advised by his doctor to take a little more time. Rather than perform the shows without Rick, the guys have decided to postpone the shows this weekend and will announce the new dates shortly.”

Cheap Trick are next scheduled to begin a six-city concert series in Japan starting November 24 in Tokyo.

Rick Nielsen temporarily sidelined from Cheap Trick tour

Guitarist Rick Nielsen has been temporarily sidelined from Cheap Trick’s fall US tour.

“A few days ago, Rick had a minor procedure that requires him to stay off the road for this week and not travel,” shared the group on social media. “Robin Taylor Zander will be stepping up this weekend. We look forward to Rick rejoining the guys on the west coast later next week.”

The band’s upcoming live schedule includes dates in Michigan this weekend ahead of shows in Auburn, WA and Boise, ID late next week, after which they will head to Japan for a six-city concert series.

Robin Taylor Zander – the son of lead singer Robin Zander – has previously filled in on bass, drums and lead guitar for the Rockford, IL band when other members weren't available.

Rod Stewart and Cheap Trick have expanded their summer tour of North America with the addition of 19 new concert dates.

Originally scheduled to open in Fort Worth, TX on July 1, the series will now begin in Vancouver, BC on June 10, with shows wrapping up in Edmonton, AB in mid-September.

Tickets for most of the newly-added US tour dates go on sale to the public starting on Friday, February 25 at 10 AM local time, and tickets to the Canadian dates go on sale on Friday, March 4 at 10 AM local time on LiveNation.com.

Separately, tickets for the Santa Barbara, CA concert on June 18 will go on sale to the public on Friday, March 4 at 10 AM local time via AXS.com and through the Santa Barbara Bowl box office.

Cheap Trick to join Rod Stewart for summer tour

Cheap Trick will join Rod Stewart as special guests on his summer tour of North America.

The series will open in Fort Worth, TX on July 1 and is scheduled to wrap up in Tampa, FL on September 3.

Stewart shared the news via social media while also confirming that tickets are now on sale.

Originally planned for 2020, the tour was put on hold as the live music industry – like many others – shut down during the pandemic.

Cheap Trick will next be seen hosting a new Las Vegas residency later this month when they begin a series of album-themed shows at The Strat Hotel Casino & SkyPod.

“We’re going to play sort of like what we had done before, when we’ve played a full album, and then extra tracks,” guitarist Rick Nielsen tells the Las Vegas Review-Journal. “We’re going to try to do that in Vegas. We can play the first album, the second album, third album and fourth album over a four-night stand.”

Cheap Trick perform at Baltimore Ravens NFL game

Cheap Trick were on hand to perform at the Baltimore Ravens NFL home game at the city’s M&T Bank Stadium on January 9.

The Ravens were hosting the Pittsburgh Steelers during the final weekend of regular season play as the league prepares to begin playoff rounds this week.

“Getting ready for halftime in Baltimore”, posted the band on social media prior to their appearance.

According to setlist.fm, Cheap Trick performed three songs from the Bud Light Touchdown Club during halftime with a lineup that saw Robin Zander, Rick Neilsen and Tom Petersson joined by the singer’s son, Robin Taylor Zander, on drums in place of longtime touring member Daxx Neilsen.

Cheap Trick will launch a Les Vegas residency at The Strat Hotel Casino & SkyPod next month.

Cheap Trick announce Las Vegas residency

Cheap Trick have announced the first dates of a new Las Vegas residency.

The band will perform a series of album-themed shows at The Strat Hotel Casino & SkyPod, with appearances starting February 25, 26 and March 4 & 5.

“We’re going to play sort of like what we had done before, when we’ve played a full album, and then extra tracks,” guitarist Rick Nielsen tells John Katsilometes at the Las Vegas Review-Journal. “We’re going to try to do that in Vegas. We can play the first album, the second album, third album and fourth album over a four-night stand.”

Cheap Trick is working around an ever-changing touring schedule, so additional Vegas dates are expected but not yet penciled in. A European tour set for February has been pushed from ‘21 to this year. So has the band’s booking at the Under The Stars festival in Australia. Cheap Trick’s co-headlining tour with ZZ Top in Canada has been moved to this spring. A series with Rod Stewart has been moved to this summer.

“We have so many other shows that that we’ve scheduled and rescheduled, and scheduled, I don’t know exactly what can be worked out,” Nielsen says. "That’s all stuff that is backed up, moving, and has been going on for about two years now. It’s like, I know what year it is, but sometimes I’m not sure (laughs). I just want to get onstage and play. We will make it special, that I can promise.”

Rick Nielsen of Cheap Trick gives guitar collection tour

Rick Nielsen of Cheap Trick gives a private tour of his guitars in the latest installment of the Gibson series, “The Collection.”

“When it comes to guitar collections, some are so large, so special, and so rare, that even the best collectors can’t help but do a double-take. This is how you would define Rick Nielsen’s collection - a total head-turner,” reads the show’s synopsis. “In the latest episode of ‘The Collection,’ host Mark Agnesi heads to Rockford, IL to visit the godfather of guitar hoarding. Rick Nielsen, the lead guitarist for Cheap Trick, takes us through his cavern of guitars. Ranging from quirky and strange to the ultimate rare and last of its kind. And in a “The Collection” first, Rick shows off three original 1958 Explorers out of only nineteen in existence.

“While Rick's guitar bevy is superior to most, what's striking is his irreverence for 'value' in a world full of collectors and purists. In Rick's eyes, the guitar belongs to him, and how pristine the guitar is doesn't really matter. His passion for guitars and the guitar world is apparent as he is still adding to the vault. Follow along as Rick takes us through his fantastic collection.”

Neilsen was among the members who formed Cheap Trick in Rockford in 1973; the group issued its self-titled debut and follow-up, “In Color”, in 1977 and “Heaven Tonight” in 1978 before breaking into the mainstream with the 1979 live album, “At Budokan.”

With sales of more than 20 million albums, Cheap Trick were inducted into the Rock And Roll Hall Of Fame in 2016.

Cheap Trick perform on The Late Show with Stephen Colbert

Cheap Trick performed their new single, “Boys & Girls & Rock N Roll”, on the April 8 episode of CBS-TV’s The Late Show with Stephen Colbert.

The virtual appearance saw the group rounded out with an additional guitarist, while bassist Tom Petersson was seated and the only band member to wear a mask.

“Hi everyone, you may have noticed that I was sitting down during Stephen Colbert’s Late Show performance last night,” shared the rocker on social media. “I had to have open heart surgery a month ago and am under doctor’s orders to take it easy. I’m currently recuperating and slowly but surely getting stronger every day. Can’t wait to get back to see all of you again soon.”

Cheap Trick’s Late Show debut came on the eve of the release their new album, “In Another World.”

Produced by Julian Raymond, the set marks the Rockford, IL group’s 20th studio release.

“In Another World” is now available digitally as well as on standard black vinyl, CD, digitally and via streaming platforms.

Cheap Trick to perform on The Late Show with Stephen Colbert

Cheap Trick will perform on CBS-TV’s The Late Show with Stephen Colbert on Thursday, April 8.

The appearance comes the night before the band release their new album, “In Another World.”

Produced by Julian Raymond, the project has been previewed with the singles “Light Up The Fire” and “Boys & Girls & Rock N Roll”, and includes the group’s 2019 cover of John Lennon’s “Gimme Some Truth.”

The Rockford, IL band’s 20th studio release follows a pair of 2017 records: "We're All Alright!" and "Christmas Christmas", and last fall’s cover of the David Bowie classic “Rebel Rebel.”

“In Another World” will be available digitally as well as on standard black vinyl, CD, digitally and via streaming platforms; a limited edition blue and white splattered vinyl will be available at independent record stores across America, while a limited edition picture disc will be available exclusively via Target.
