Sebastian Bach and Skid Row continue war of words over reunion

The war of words between Sebastian Bach and his former bandmates in Skid Row continued this past week, with Bach issuing a response to comments made by Skid Row bassist Rachel Bolan.

Yahoo Music reports Bolan was quoted in a recent interview with Spotlight Report as saying that answering questions about the possibility of working with Bach again is "a waste of time."

“I go on my Twitter feed and I read things like [Jan. 24] was the 25th anniversary of the release date of the first Skid Row album, and Skid Row doesn't give a f---,” replied Bach. “I would love to do something to celebrate it, and my former bandmates are like, 'Nah, we're playing a bowling alley. We're happy. We don't care.'"

"There's a lot of unreleased material sitting around collecting dust," he added. "The fans would love it, but I guess my band is allergic to cash. They're happy not being big. It's such an insult to the millions of people who dug our albums. It's like saying, 'We were just joking [back then]. Happy anniversary!'"

Skid Row’s 1989 self-titled debut reached No. 6 on the US Billboard 200, based on the success of singles like “Youth Gone Wild”, “18 And Life” and “I Remember You.” The record went on to sell 5 million copies in the States alone.

Meanwhile, Bach is gearing up for the release of his upcoming new album, “Give “Em Hell.”

Due April 22 in North America (March 18 in Japan and March 25 in Europe), the project will feature guest appearances by Duff McKagan, John 5 (Marilyn Manson, Rob Zombie) and Steve Stevens (Billy Idol), along with new guitarist Devin Bronson and longtime drummer Bobby Jarzombek.

Sebastian Bach clarifies autobiography comments

In a recent interview with Billboard, Sebastian Bach was asked about his plans to write a memoir about his rock n’ roll life.

"Oh, my story is insanely insane," he is quoted as telling the music industry magazine. "I think I could do a hell of a book. I could make (Motley Crue's) 'The Dirt' look clean if I wanted to.”

Now, Bach has posted his thoughts on the Billboard story, which has spread to rock news sites around the globe.

“Why does the press always put words in my mouth? You would think I would know better by now,” he wrote on Saturday. “Someone asked me about my book & my answer was exactly this: ‘I could make the dirt look clean if I wanted to.’ Now, every single thing I read about my book says, Sebastian says his book will surpass Motley Crue's The Dirt.’ Only thing is....I never said that. I don't even know what kind of book it will be yet.”

“My book has nothing to do with Motley Crue!,” continued Bach. “I love the Crue but I have not decided if I want my book to be full-on madness, or something different. I have never used the words ‘Motley Crue’ when talking about my book, until this very post. Thank you, I feel much better.”

Sebastian Bach talks about writing his autobiography

Sebastian Bach has wrapped up a series of summer dates promoting his 2011 release, “Kicking & Screaming.”

One of the next projects on Bach’s plate may be writing his autobiography.

Sebastian tells The Macomb Daily that he’s been approached to write his memoir, which he predicts will make Motley Crue’s “The Dirt” “look clean” if he decides to take that tack.

“It seems like such an overwhelming project, so don’t hold your breath for it,” says Bach. “It has to blow me away before I release it. I want to write it by myself; I look at Duff McKagen’s book, Dee Snider’s book, they wrote them by themselves and they’re amazing books. So I might try, but if it doesn’t put goosebumps on my arm I won’t put it out.”

Sebastian Bach explains guitarist’s absence

Sebastian Bach guitarist Nick Sterling was missing in action for the band’s August 2nd live AXS TV (formerly HDNet) broadcast from Los Angeles, and now the singer is explaining what happened.

"We did a big broadcast on AXS TV that we worked really, really hard on. It was a very big deal that we were on television from coast to coast all across the United States of America,” Bach tells Green Bay’s 93 Rock. “Everybody that was involved in the broadcast had to sign a release so we could film it and they would agree to be part of the broadcast and the DVD coming out. Everybody [else] signed it. I talked to Nick two days before the show and he still hadn't signed it. And I'm like, 'Dude, we're filming this in two days. You have to sign this.' And he guaranteed to me on the phone that he would sign it and be a part of it, and then when we got to soundcheck, he wouldn't sign the release. So we could not film the show with him; he wouldn't let us. He wanted all these sorts of demands that nobody else in the band wanted that were completely unreasonable.”

"If someone is not happy in my band, I will be the first one to show them the door and say, 'Don't let it hit you in the ass on the way out,’" Sebastian continued. “If you're not happy and you're not part of the team and you're not interested in being successful or being professional, then get out of my band. I've been doing this for 25-30 years and all I ask is that somebody is a professional in my band and has it together on stage and doesn't wreck it for the rest of us, which is what he did in L.A. the other day."

"I am very sad about it,” added Bach. “I love playing with him on stage… I love the album [2011’s “Kicking & Screaming”] that we made. I completely love the music that we made, and I hope to make music in the future with him. But the fans out there should know how rare and special albums are. It's not a joke when you get musicians together that all believe in the same purpose and goal and work together to achieve that goal. I'm so proud of the record that we made. I don't know what the future will hold, but everybody should listen to that and realize that we captured a very cool, unique moment in time between me and him. I could not be more proud of the record.”

"I wish Nick all the best,” summed up the singer. “I hope he can figure out how to be the type of man, as a human being, to other people as the incredible musician as he is on stage… He's an amazing, amazing guitar player, but if you can't honor your word and can't be a team player and consider all the other musicians on stage and the business side of things and how much effort people put into doing a live broadcast across the country, and then you just [decide not to] do it, like, an hour before the show, I don't wanna play with you anymore. And that's the way it is. I'm not into fighting all the time. So if you wanna fight with me, it's not gonna last too long. [laughs]"

Fans first got wind of the situation when Sterling posted a note to his Facebook page before the L.A. show, writing "Unfortunately, I will not be performing tonight at Nokia Live. There were some contractual issues that we just couldn't work out. No hard feelings."

The scenario left Bach without a player before showtime, but he brought in a couple of guest guitarists for the AXS TV broadcast, including Jinxx (Black Veil Brides) and Brent Woods (Wildside, Vince Neil).

Sebastian Bach’s guitarist missing shows over contract dispute

Sebastian Bach guitarist Nick Sterling is sitting out the last couple of shows on the singer’s current North American tour due to an apparent contract dispute.

"Unfortunately, I will not be performing tonight at Nokia Live," Sterling wrote on his Facebook page before Sebastian's Los Angeles concert on Friday. "There were some contractual issues that we just couldn't work out. No hard feelings."

Friday’s concert was being broadcast live by AXS TV, formerly known as HDNet.

Bach brought in a couple of guest guitarists for the L.A. date, including Jinxx (Black Veil Brides) and Brent Woods (Wildside, Vince Neil), and raved about it afterwards.

“Words cannot describe how thankful and appreciative I am to the band Black Veil Brides for helping me out in Los Angeles the other night,” Bach wrote on Saturday. “Jinxx the guitar player came up on stage and kicked ass on a couple of tunes and looked incredible in his full stage regalia. Ashley came up on Youth Gone Wild it was totally great. These guys are such an awesome band and such true rockers and very good friends too. Thank you so much Jinxx, Ashley and CC for coming to the show. I am proud to call you freaks my true rockin' brothers!”

Bach has a more dates to play over the next few weeks; no word on who will be handling guitar duties in Sterling’s absence, or if he’ll rejoin the band at some point.

In June, Bach and crew rolled into Clisson, France to play the second day of Hellfest on a bill topped by Guns N’ Roses; Megadeth and Motley Crue headlined the other nights.

Sebastian is touring behind his latest release, “Kicking & Screaming.”

Pro-shot footage of Bach’s full set has now surfaced.

Sebastian continues his road trip this summer playing across North America.

Skid Row singer says there will be no reunion with Sebastian Bach

After years of bitterness between the camps, Sebastian Bach surprised many fans this spring when he said he would reunite with Skid Row.

"Four out of five [members of the classic Skid Row lineup] want to do it. Believe it or not, I am one of the four who would do it," tweeted Bach in response to a fan question about the situation.

That news came on the heels of comments made by Bach confirming music industry interest in such a reunion.

"We [Skid Row] got offered a couple of reunion shows,” Sebastian told the Boise Music Examiner. “A lot of the time people say, ‘How come you aren't together?' and I've never been offered any reunion with those guys until this year. There was a couple of offers for this Knebworth gig in England. Sonisphere… And they actually printed up a poster, 'KISS with special guests Skid Row,' and that was actually a real thing, but those guys [the current members of Skid Row] did not want to do it."

Now, in a new interview, current Skid Row singer Johnny Solinger speaks out on the subject.

“I've never said anything bad publicly about the guy, because I don't care, it's my band to sing in now and has been for thirteen years,” Solinger tells John Parks at Legendary Rock Interviews. “First of all, when he comes out and says stuff like that it's all crap. It is, just like ‘four out of five dentists approve’ is crap. He's been wanting back in the band since I joined but there's not much he can say about it and not much I care to say about it. His statement that four out of the five guys are wanting a reunion with him was just his way of getting a little attention, and we don't really care either way about it because it's not going to happen. I'm not saying that to be bad to the dude, because I've never been that kind of guy to slag him or anything he does. In fact, I totally understand the old Skid Row fans that abandoned us when I joined; that's fine, I get it. I totally love the fans that stayed on and enjoyed me with the band, of course (laughs) and I totally love the old Skid Row fans that have come back into the fold. I just appreciate all of the fans, old and new, because they're all Skid Row fans. It's all about the songs and the creativity and I love that about this band and their fans because they get it.”

“The thing that blows my mind about all these guys is that they're all still friends,” Johnny continued. “I mean, we play shows with other bands where the guys in the band can't even stand to be in the same room at the same time and it shows when they're onstage. My guys, to their credit, are all very cool. They hang together, they talk to each other and are genuinely close which isn't always as common as you'd think and is really something that makes it a pleasure to be in this band. There's not a druggie in the band, all these different personal issues that can get in the way of making music are not an issue for us anymore, which is why it's so funny when those reunion rumors pop up, because it's just not gonna happen. All the true-blue fans know that by now, though.”

VIDEO: Sebastian Bach loses microphone during Italian festival show

Sebastian Bach has been winding his way across Europe while he tours to promote his latest release, “Kicking & Screaming.”

Last Friday, Bach rolled into the Gods Of Metal festival in Milan, Italy to perform on the second day of the three-day event.

A few hours before he returned to the stage to sing with pal Axl Rose and headliners Guns N’ Roses (watch video here), Bach did a solo set on the festival’s main stage.

During his opening number, Skid Row’s “Slave To The Grind,” Bach lost his microphone while spinning it in the air over his head, ala Roger Daltrey of The Who.

Sebastian had his solo band stop the set, and returned to the stage a few minutes later to restart things once the technical issue was addressed.

Sebastian Bach: Skid Row refused use of band’s biggest hit in Rock Of Ages

The Broadway play-turned-movie Rock Of Ages opened this past weekend with disappointing results.

The Tom Cruise flick landed in 3rd place at the box office with sales of just $15.1 million, placing it behind "Madagascar 3: Europe's Most Wanted" ($35.5 million) and "Prometheus" ($20.2 million).

Rock Of Ages is billed as a love story told through the music of Bon Jovi, Journey, Poison, Twisted Sister and other artists from the 1980s.

One of the songs music fans won’t hear in the movie is Skid Row’s hit, “I Remember You.”

Former Skid Row man Sebastian Bach, currently on tour promoting his latest effort, “Kicking & Screaming,” fills Cristina Massei of Sonic Shocks in on the story.

"The fact is Snake [Dave Sabo, Skid Row guitarist] and Rachel [Bolan, Skid Row bassist], who have co-writing credits for 'I Remember You', refused to allow it to be in the movie," explains Bach. "[The producers of 'Rock Of Ages'] wanted 'I Remember You' [to be] in the play and the movie, but Snake and Rachel don't like money. [Laughs] They have an aversion to cash. They'd rather not have cash. I don't know why — you can interview them about that — but that is the truth of the matter. The play wanted the [song] and they [Skid Row members] didn't want it in the movie — because money is bad."

The track was the third single from Skid Row's 1989 eponymous debut album; it reached #6 on the Billboard Hot 100.

VIDEO: Dee Snider joins Sebastian Bach for Skid Row classic in Sweden

Sebastian Bach played the Sweden Rock Festival Thursday night, and had a little help along the way.

Sebastian was joined by Twisted Sister frontman Dee Snider for the Skid Row cut, “Youth Gone Wild.”

Bach is currently on the road promoting his latest effort, “Kicking & Screaming.”

Earlier this week, he released the video for “I’m Alive,” the third and latest single from the project - check out the video here.

Sebastian plays Hamburg, Germany on Friday and the Download Festival on Sunday.

A Skid Row reunion may be closer than fans think.

Despite years of saying it would never happen, Sebastian Bach has come forward to update fans on the possibility of such an event.

VIDEO: Watch full Skid Row set at M3 Rock Festival

Skid Row headlined the Festival Stage at the M3 Rock Festival in Maryland last weekend.

The band rocked an 8-song set of classic songs from their early 90s-era.

Professional video of Skid Row’s M3 set has surfaced and can be viewed below.

The group’s last album was 2006’s “Revolutions Per Minute,” and guitarist Dave “Snake” Sabo was asked by the team at Legendary Rock Interviews if the guys were working on new music.

“We’ve written and completed a bunch of songs, we have like twelve songs but the thing is, they’re not all great. So, we’re weeding them out and wading through it because it’s really important that we make a GREAT album,” says Sabo. “We don’t wanna just put something out because it’s been a while, we’re going to keep working and I really don’t have a concrete answer as far as how much longer we’re going to take. We’re kind of in a rush because we are busy and have tour dates so we wanna get something out there, but at the same time we’re not in a rush because we’re not about to put something out that’s half ass. I know the fans want to hear something new from us and it’s been a while, but at the same time we respect them enough to not just rush something out there. I would really like to have something out by the end of the year.”

Sebastian Bach talks Skid Row reunion

Sebastian Bach had some fun recently when he posted an April Fools’ gag suggesting that he was reuniting with his old band.

Here’s the post:

“Wow, i have been waiting a long time to make this announcement. It looks like the stars have finally aligned! It is amazing to me to say that ... Yes... Talks are underway for the reunion tour of all reunion tours!! I am happy to announce I am negotiating details with my old band & we are gonna get the band back together for an epic tour of sheds, arenas, casinos & marinas that will span the globe! We are going to start immediately on our new CD "Rock Sucker" that is guaranteed to be Eddie Trunks wet dream come true & we are all getting along famously! Or infamously, as the (hard) case may be! More details to come, watch this space!!”

Bach later confessed to the prank - which was picked up as a real item by FOX News – and added, “where there is smoke, there is fire. Kinda sorta.”

VIDEO: Jon Bon Jovi named in Skid Row controversy

There is some question over the use of the band name Skid Row and original member Brendan ‘Brush’ Sheils is looking for answers.

Bassist Sheils formed Skid Row in Dublin in 1967, along with drummer Noel Bridgeman, guitarist Bernard Cheevers and singer Phil Lynott. After some lineup changes, guitarist Gary Moore was brought in, marking his first appearance in a professional band; Lynott and Moore would later team up a few times in the 70s in Thin Lizzy.

The Irish band released two albums and a bunch of singles in the late 60s and early 70s, long before a more modern-era group named out of New Jersey named Skid Row – fronted by Sebastian Bach – appeared on the scene.

Sheils is getting set to release a new Skid Row project, and has recorded and posted a video online explaining his need to clear up the confusion caused by two bands using the same name – and he’s looking to track down Jon Bon Jovi for answers.

Bon Jovi manager Doc McGhee signed the US band in the late 80s, and they were reportedly signed to a publishing company owned by Jon and guitarist Richie Sambora.

“A couple of years ago,” explains Sheils, “I’m looking at MTV, having a look at this guy Sebastian Bach; somebody asked him a question and he said they paid Gary Moore $35,000 for the use of the name. Now, I know for fact that this is a lie.”

In his video, Sheils explains that he was told that Jon contacted Moore about the use of the name, who told Bon Jovi that he would have to contact Sheils to explore the issue further.

The US band released their debut in January of 1989 and, for whatever reason, it’s taken Sheils 23 years to raise this issue publicly while he asks for Bon Jovi to contact him on it.

“All I’m saying is, Jon Bon Jovi – if you’d like to contact me or one of your representatives and explain what happened, and why these guys got to use the name Skid Row without contacting me. Because, when I tried to contact you, I found it impossible most of the time.”

“Jon, if you’re out there - from one rock professional to another – give us a call, Brush Shiels, Skid Row, the republic of Ireland.”

VIDEO: Sebastian Bach & Asking Alexandria rehearse Skid Row classic

Some video of Sebastian Bach and Asking Alexandria rehearsing for the third annual Revolver Golden God Awards in L.A. earlier this spring, has surfaced.

Revolver is now sharing footage of the rehearsal, as the guys run through a couple of takes on the Skid Row track, “Youth Gone Wild.”

Bach did double-rock n’ roll duty at the April 20 event, hosting the VH1 pre-show “black carpet,” doing interviews with all the rockers, before joining AA on stage during the show.

Since the awards, Bach has recorded and released his latest solo album, “Kicking & Screaming,” and will be out playing some U.S. shows in November.

VIDEO: Sebastian Bach rocks Vegas with Sin City Sinners

Sebastian Bach was in Las Vegas this week, sitting in with the Sin City Sinners.

These days, Bach’s been on the promo circuit, out talking to the press about his new release, “Kicking & Screaming.”

Monday night at the Rio Hotel, however, it was Bach to rocking for Sebastian, joining the Sinners for a bunch of his Skid Row hits, as well as the title track from the new album.

The Sinners feature Brent Muscat (Faster Pussycat), Rob Cournoyer (Raging Slab), Dr. Michael Ellis, Louie Merlino (Beggars & Thieves) and Jimmy Crespo (former lead guitarist of Aerosmith).

Bach has lined up a series of tour dates in November to take his new music live to the fans.

VIDEO: Sebastian Bach, Cee Lo Green jam with Steel Panther

Another Monday night at the House Of Blues in West Hollywood and Steel Panther are holding down the fort.

This week, SP were joined by Sebastian Bach and Cee Lo Green for some cover songs, including stuff by Bach’s former band, Skid Row, as well as Journey’s all-time smash “Don’t Stop Believin’.”

Bach’s new album, “Kicking & Screaming,” is due September 27 via Frontiers Records; the title track is the first single and it’s available as of August 23.

The follow-up to 2007’s “Angel Down,” the new disc was produced by Bob Marlette and features guitarist Nick Sterling and drummer Bobby Jarzombek.

Rocker James Durbin has released footage of some casual covers of a couple of Skid Row classics….songs he wasn’t allowed to perform on American Idol.

Durbin recently hung out with Sebastian Bach in Los Angeles, and he filled the former Skid Row vocalist in on a few things.

"Interesting. Hanging with James Durbin from American Idol,” posted Bach on Facebook. “He tells me he wanted to sing [the Skid Row song] “18 And Life” on American Idol but was told he's not allowed to, it's 'not cleared.' Who makes these decisions and why? How? He was told he could do a Bon Jovi song but not Skid Row. Very interesting. And s**tty."

Durbin made a name for himself in the rock community after being the first Idol contestant to embrace hard rock and heavy metal on the reality show contest. From his opening week cover of Judas Priest’s “You’ve Got Another Thing Coming” to having Zakk Wylde join him for a Sammy Hagar tune, Durbin grew stronger throughout the series as he gears up to launch his career.

Sebastian Bach done mixing new album

Three months and the music is complete.

Back in February, Sebastian Bach entered an L.A. studio with his new guitarist Nick Sterling, drummer Bobby Jarzombek and producer Bob Marlette to record Bach's next CD, due this fall via the Italian label Frontiers Records.

"We are DONE mixing the new CD," Bach updated fans Thursday via his Facebook page. "The last song we just completed was 'Awake', which a lot of you know. The melody from Nick Sterling in the chorus is so incredible; tender, heart-wrenching, builds into an emotional crescendo that is so beautiful and heavy to me. After much attention to detail from producer Bob Marlette, Nick, and myself, we now have the 'magic mix' of this track that literally makes me want to rip the skin off my chest it sounds so good."

"Next up we master the CD and vinyl versions of the record at Precision Sound in L.A.,” added Bach. “Like my last CD, Tom Baker will master the record, because he did such a perfect job mastering 'Angel Down'.”

"Get ready to rock, mothertruckers! In stores this September!"

Sebastian plays the Rocklahoma Festival this Saturday (28) on a bill headlined by Staind; the same day, the Canadian rocker will also be featured on the VH1 Classic broadcast of the third annual Revolver Golden God Awards, which happened last month in Los Angeles.

Bach hosted the VH1 pre-show “black carpet,” doing interviews with all the rockers, before joining Asking Alexandria on stage for a cover of Skid Row’s “Youth Gone Wild.” Revolver has just released a special Golden Gods issue of the magazine, which features exclusive behind-the-scenes photos and interviews.

VIDEO: Sebastian Bach rocks M3 Festival

A few days after Sebastian Bach made headlines for his arrest on marijuana charges for the second time in six months, the former Skid Row singer was back to work playing live dates.

Last weekend, Bach played the M3 Rock Festival in Columbia, Maryland, on a bill headlined by Whitesnake.

Sebastian had some fun with his bust, mixing a reference in while singing “Youth Gone Wild”…“I never played by the rules, I never really cared, my nasty reputation took me to TMZ.”

Gossip site TMZ broke the news of Bach’s arrest, which happened as a result of a traffic infraction; the singer was pulled over for 'failing to keep right' on a highway in New Jersey’s Monmouth County at 3:32 a.m. on Tuesday, May 10.

Bach was arrested for possessing less than 50 grams of marijuana and possession of drug paraphernalia; he was taken to a local jail and eventually released pending a future court hearing.

Las November, Bach was charged assault, possession of marijuana and mischief after he allegedly bit the hand of a bartender trying to throw him out of Riley's Olde Towne Pub in his hometown of Peterborough, Ontario, Canada. Bach was in town dealing with the estate of his father following his passing.
