Black Star Riders debut almost ready for mastering

The debut album by Black Star Riders – featuring former members of Thin Lizzy – has almost reached the end of the mixing stage.

“Last song being mixed today by [producer] Kevin [Shirley] then off to Bob Ludwig for mastering!,” posted the band. “Almost done folks - Album title, track listing, cover art, definitive release dates etc to be announced very soon!!”

The group spent January in the studio with Shirley recording the project; it’s been in the mixing stage for the past month.

The band has said the album will be released at the end of May, with the first Black Star Riders live appearances launching around the same time.

Black Star Riders are Thin Lizzy alumni Ricky Warwick (vocals), Scott Gorham (guitar), Damon Johnson (guitar), Marco Mendoza (bass) with new addition Jimmy DeGrasso on drums (Alice Cooper, Megadeth, David Lee Roth, Suicidal Tendencies).

After touring the past few years as Thin Lizzy, the lineup adopted the new band name to start the project with a clean slate, and out of respect to the legacy of the late Phil Lynott.

On Thursday, Black Star Riders kicked off a tour of Australia – as Thin Lizzy – as the opening act on the KISS/Motley Crue package.
