Rock News Artist of The Year No. 6 – AEROSMITH

Aerosmith began the year with news that their 1975 classic, “Walk This Way”, was among 25 recordings inducted into the 2019 Grammy Hall Of Fame.

The second single from the band’s third album, “Toys In The Attic”, reached No. 10 on the Billboard Hot 100, and earned a second life when Run–DMC were joined by Steven Tyler and Joe Perry for the hip-hop group’s 1986 cover, which hit No. 4 on the same US chart.

Aerosmith played their first live date of 2019 with a February 1 show at the Super Bowl Music Fest in Atlanta, GA, which was followed by an appearance at Tyler’s second annual Grammy Awards Viewing Party to benefit Janie’s Fund at Raleigh Studios in Hollywood.

The Boston rockers scheduled February 14 Hollywood Walk Of Fame ceremony was postponed due to severe weather.

Aerosmith opened their Deuces Are Wild Las Vegas residency at the Park MGM's Park Theater on April 6; the series made headlines in its first month when drummer Joey Kramer was forced to miss some shows due to an injury, while his drum tech, John Douglas, stepped in to perform in his absence.

As the residency dates continued, Aerosmith were featured on an episode of the History channel series American Pickers in June as the group would be reunited with their original 1970s touring van after it was located last summer by hosts Mike Wolfe and Frank Fritz in the woods near Chesterfield, MA, about 110 miles west of Boston.

The band expanded their residency gig with a series of US east coast shows in August, which included an incident when Tyler fell onstage during a concert at the MGM National Harbor in Oxon Hill, MD.

By the fall, the Deuces Are Wild residency topped the $35 million mark and was extended with a series of new dates in 2020.

Aerosmith will be honored with the 2020 MusiCares Person Of The Year Award in January; they are being recognized for their considerable philanthropic efforts over five decades and impact on American music history.

In addition to the ongoing Las Vegas residency, Aerosmith have announced a series of summer 2020 shows across the UK and Europe as part of their 50th anniversary tour.
