Ghost rocked its track, “Lachryma”, on the July 23 episode of NBC’s The Tonight Show starring Jimmy Fallon, and the show is sharing video of the performance.
The tune is the second single from the band’s latest release, “Skeleta”, which recently saw the Swedish rockers top the US charts for the first time.
The band’s sixth studio set debuted on the Billboard 200 album chart at No. 1 with accrued sales of 86,000 in the week since its April 25 release via Loma Vista Recordings.
Produced by Gene Walker, “Skeleta” marks the follow-up to 2022’s “Impera” and 2024’s “Rite Here Rite Now”, which captured Ghost over the course of a pair of sold-out shows at the Kia Forum in Los Angeles that also served as the two-night finale of the group’s Re-Imperatour U.S.A. 2023.
Ghost launched the North American leg of the “Skeletour” earlier this month in Baltimore, MD, with shows running into mid-August.

Ghost frontman Papa V Perpetua paid tribute to Ozzy Osbourne with a 1983 classic by the iconic rocker as part of his farewell performance in Birmingham.
The singer delivered the title track to Osbourne’s “Bark At The Moon” during the event, where he joined a supergroup that featured Vernon Reid, Nuno Bettencourt, Adam Wakeman, Rudy Sarzo and Travis Barker.
The album followed “Blizzard Of Ozz” and “Diary Of A Madman” as Osbourne’s third solo project following his dismissal from Black Sabbath in 1979.
“Bark At The Moon” peaked at No. 19 on the US Billboard 200 on its way to triple platinum status for sales of more than 3 million copies in the region.
Prior to joining Black Sabbath for the final time, Osbourne played a 5-song set of his own while highlighting some of the most famous songs in his solo catalog.
Swedish rockers Ghost have topped the US charts for the first time with their latest record, “Skeleta.”
The band’s sixth studio set debuts on the Billboard 200 album chart at No. 1 with accrued sales of 86,000 in the week since its April 25 release via Loma Vista Recordings.
Of “Skeleta”’s first-week equivalent album units, album sales comprise 77,000, SEA (streaming equivalent albums) units comprise 9,000 (equaling 12.45 million on-demand official streams of the set’s songs) and TEA (track equivalent albums) units comprise a negligible sum. The set’s first-week sales were bolstered by its availability across more than 15 vinyl variants, three CD variants and four cassette variants (all containing the same tracklist, but in collectible packaging).
With “Skeleta” scoring 9,000 in SEA units (12.45 million on-demand official streams of the album’s songs), the group logs its biggest streaming week ever for an album as it surpasses the opening-week of “Impera” (7,000 SEA; 9.11 million streams for its songs).
In addition to being the first time a hard rock album has topped the Billboard 200 since 2020, “Skeleta” has racked up the biggest sales week for a rock, hard rock or alternative album in 2025 – as well as the biggest vinyl sales week for any hard rock LP since the dawn of the “Luminate” era in 1991 and the most for any rock album since 2023.
Currently the world's biggest-selling album and the week's lone Top 10 debut, “Skeleta” also debuted at No. 1 on the U.S. Album, Vinyl Album, Indie Store Album, Independent Album, Rock Album, Rock and Alternative Album, and Hard Rock Album charts.
Internationally, the album bowed at No. 1 in the band’s native Sweden as well as Germany, Australia, Austria, Belgium, Switzerland and Finland, No. 2 in the UK, Netherlands and Norway, No. 4 in France and No. 6 in Ireland, among others.

Ghost has released an animated music video for its latest single, “The Future Is A Foreign Land.”
Written by the 3rd Papa Nihil, the newly-uncovered 1969-era song is the sole previously-unreleased studio track to be featured on the soundtrack to the group’s “Rite Here Rite Now” film.
Papa Nihil has previously been credited with writing “Kiss The Go-Goat” and “Mary On A Cross”, which were issued on the 2019 EP “Seven Inches Of Satanic Panic.”
“Rite Here Rite Now” captures Ghost over the course of a pair of sold-out shows at the Kia Forum in Los Angeles that also served as the two-night finale of the group’s Re-Imperatour U.S.A. 2023.
The film presents a narrative story that picks up plot threads from the band’s long-running webisode series; the result blends favorites from all five of Ghost’s albums interwoven with the silver screen debuts of a few faces familiar to the band’s legions of fans—all interacting behind the scenes with Ghost’s Papa Emeritus IV, as his future and fate lay in the hands of the Ministry.

Ghost have scored a 2024 Grammy Award nomination for their cover of the 1980 Iron Maiden classic, “Phantom Of The Opera.”
The Swedish rockers released the iconic metal tune as part of their covers EP “Phantomime.”
Originally issued as part of Iron Maiden’s self-titled debut album, the 2023 version sees Ghost update the song for the five-track project alongside tunes recorded by Genesis, Tina Turner, The Stranglers and Television.
Ghost’s version has been nominated in the Best Metal Performance category alongside tracks by Disturbed (“Bad Man”), Metallica (“72 Seasons”), Slipknot (“Hive Mind”), and Spiritbox (“Jaded”).
The 66th Grammy Awards will take place on Sunday, February 4 at the Crypto.com Arena in Los Angeles; it will air live at 8:00 PM ET on the CBS Television Network and will stream on Paramount+ (live and on demand for Paramount+ with Showtime subscribers, or on demand for Paramount+ Essential subscribers the day after the special airs).
Ghost previously won a Best Metal Performance Grammy in 2016 for "Cirice", a track from the “Meliora” album; their latest full studio release is 2022’s “Impera.”
Ghost and actor-director Patrick Wilson have teamed up to cover the 1992 Shakespears Sister hit, “Stay”, as featured in the new movie “Insidious: The Red Door.”
Available in cinemas today, the Wilson-directed project is the fifth film in the “Insidious” franchise.
“The song will be haunting the end credits of the new film ‘Insidious: The Red Door’,” says Ghost. “Thank you for your undying support.”
Wilson first approached Ghost leader Tobias Forge last year after being a longtime fan of the Swedish outfit.
"It was Joe Bishara, our Insidious composer and resident Lipstick Demon who first got me into Ghost about 10 years ago,” explains Wilson. “Joe knew I liked metal... but he also knew I liked melody. What can I say? I'm a child of the '80s... when soaring voices and blazing guitars were played at every dance, every fast food parking lot, and every day in my house. Ghost had the right blend of metal, melody, and an unforgettable image. This coming from a guy who collected Kiss cards in the '70s... so I know good rock branding and imagery when I see it!
“Ghost, for me, is one of the most unique rock bands out there,” he continues. “Tobias' sense of melody is only matched by his storytelling. The blistering imagery of him and the band is unlike any other. The balance of dark lyrics with soaring (and dare I say... angelic) melodies, make listening to them a different experience than any other band out there. At least that's what it does for me.
“So clearly, when I wanted a band that embodied the spirit of Insidious lore, I knew where to look first. 'Stay' is such a hauntingly beautiful tune to end my film with, because the dark lyrics juxtaposed against the sweeping melody (written by Dave Stewart) are a great bookend to my film. Singing on it, alongside Tobias, was an absolute thrill. I wanted the tune to feel like it was Josh Lambert (my character) singing... and then being tempted by the devil (the lipstick demon)... in this case, sung by the brilliant Tobias Forge. Tobias' tone is a sharp contrast to mine, and his new arrangement of the song is faithful yet fresh. It was an honor to be featured on the tune, and I can't thank Tobias and the Ghost crew, especially Tim Bickford and Kristen Mulderig, for making this happen.
"Ghost is the perfect blend of theatricality met with musical mastery. Tobias is at the top of his game and I'm thrilled to have him on the soundtrack, and honored to sing alongside him."
Curently on the road across Europe, Ghost will release an extended box set edition of the band's latest album, "Impera", on July 28; the package will feature the original cover version of “Stay” as an exclusive to this box set.

Ghost won the "Best Hard Rock/Metal" category at the Swedish Grammis Awards on May 3 at Annexet in Stockholm.
The band was honored for their 2022 album, “Impera”, ahead of fellow nominees Amon Amarth (“The Greatest Heathen Army”), Arch Enemy (“Deceivers”), The Halo Effect (“Days Of The Lost”), and Watain (“The Agony & Ecstasy Of Watain”).
"For some reason I thought this would happen earlier in the evening,” Ghost leader Tobias Forge said while accepting the award (translated from Swedish). “When I realized it would happen a bit later... as you know, it takes a lot of teamwork to make a record, everything from getting the record together sonically to getting it out in physical form. I've worked with a lot of people and halfway through this evening, I realized, 'F**k we haven't been mentioned yet, our category hasn't been mentioned! I'm gonna be way too drunk!' So I told Klas - Klas Åhlund, producer of our record, that if we win anything, we should get up here together because it would be difficult to remember everyone that's been part of it.
“So, some of the people who have helped us: Klas Åhlund, Salem Al Fakir, Vincent Pontare, Max Grahn... and a whole lot of other people. Everyone from Universal, Nicholas, Christian, BMG, Live Nation has been there and helped us so much. Thank you very much everyone who has been involved!"
“Impera” topped the Swedish charts last year to deliver Ghost its fourth straight No. 1 album in their homeland, joining 2013’s “Infestissumam”, 2015’s “Meliora”, and 2018’s “Prequelle.”
