The Darkness issue video for Motorheart single It’s Love, Jim

The Darkness have issued a video for “It’s Love, Jim”, as the latest preview to their forthcoming album, “Motorheart.”

“This song (herein referred to as “she/her”) is all about an extra-terrestrial goddess of other worldly beauty,” explains Justin Hawkins. “She’s fast, powerful, not of this earth. Her sensual symphony nestles in your ear and lays mind eggs that seep confidence liquid into your brains. You’ll feel invincible all day long, and everything will go right after you hear it. Yeah, so it’s really catchy and should be number 1 all around the world please.”

Due November 19, “Motorheart” marks the follow-up to 2019’s “Easter Is Cancelled”, which reached the UK Top 10.

The Darkness will launch the album on a previously-announced fall UK tour that will begin next month in Brighton.

The Darkness stream Heart Explodes lyric video

The Darkness are streaming a lyric video for “Heart Explodes”, as the latest preview to their forthcoming album, “Easter Is Cancelled.”

"It's about the despair of change. Having to reappraise your life and what you're holding on to,” says frontman Justin Hawkins. “It's like that feeling when you just want to go for a swim and keep going. Wanting to be enveloped by something that will gradually pull you down. If you really, really want to survive that process, you can. We've all been there - people who say they haven't are lying."

"The difference between The Darkness sadness and other bands' sadness is that we don't wallow in it,” adds guitarist Dan Hawkins. “Even when it’s sad, there's a playfulness to it."

Produced by the guitarist and due October 4, the band’s sixth record marks the follow-up to 2017's "Pinewood Smile", which was a Top 10 project in their native UK.

The Darkness stream live version of Christmas Time

The Darkness are streaming audio of “Christmas Time (Don’t Let the Bells End)”, a seasonal tune featured on their 2018 release, “Live At Hammersmith.”

The project captures the group in a December 2017 concert at London’s Eventim Hammersmith Apollo.

“As Santa prepares to empty his sack into our collective Christmas chimney, and young faces smeared with festive brandy butter gaze up expectantly, every day is a fun-filled festive frolic of presents and pies,” says frontman Justin Hawkins. “Much as you will enjoy your turkey leftovers on Boxing Day, we are serving up Christmas Time (Don’t Let The Bells End) again, this time in a tasty live sauce. Hooray, eh?

"A rocking good Christmas to one and all!”

The Darkness will perform the song on the UK Christmas Day TV special, The Great British Bake Off; the show will see four bakers compete before a judging panel of Paul Hollywood, Prue Leith, Noel Fielding and Sandi Toksvig.

The special event will air on UK’s Channel 4 on Christmas Day at 8pm, with a repeat on New Year's Day at 7:40pm.

The Darkness are working on a follow-up to 2017’s “Pinewood Smile” – their first with new drummer Rufus Taylor (son of Queen legend Roger Taylor) – which reached No. 8 on the UK charts.

The Darkness stream Solid Gold from Live At Hammersmith

The Darkness are streaming performance audio of their 2017 single, “Solid Gold”, as the latest preview to the June 15 release of a new package, “Live At Hammersmith.”

The tune was the second single from the band’s fifth album, “Pinewood Smile” – their first with new drummer Rufus Taylor (son of Queen legend Roger Taylor) – which reached No. 8 on the UK charts.

The new live set captures the group in a December 2017 concert at London’s Eventim Hammersmith Apollo.

“The Darkness is untamed. It cannot be caged,” says frontman Justin Hawkins. “Some very clever recording engineers have discovered a way to capture its essence; all that remains is for us to release it back into the wild.

“Life is about experiences, not possessions,”
he continues. “This is your opportunity to possess the experience of The Darkness Live, as perceived by your ears, leaving your eyes free to scan the road ahead for obstacles, or to watch Emmerdale with the sound off, or to mould clay, or to darn socks, or to look at the beautiful artwork in this magnificent gatefold. Release yourself into The Darkness - Live at Hammersmith.”

The live album will be available via CD, gatefold double vinyl, cassette, download and streaming.

Having recently completed a North American tour, The Darkness will open a series of European and UK shows for The Hollywood Vampires this month.

VIDEO: The Darkness stream Pinewood Smile single Happiness

The Darkness are streaming a new animated video for “Happiness”, the latest single from their latest album, “Pinewood Smile.”

Created by Chicago’s Vitamin Pictures, the clip was directed by Daniel DelPurgatorio.

"'Happiness' is about seeing only the golden sand and overlooking the broken glass,” says frontman Justin Hawkins. “Hearing the waves crash and filtering out the grotesque cries of mating gulls. Smelling the distant odor of fresh chips and ignoring the stench of nearby dog s**t.

“Happiness is a choice. Choose The Darkness."

Produced by Adrian Bushby (Foo Fighters, Muse), “Pinewood Smile” was recorded in Cornwall, UK and delivers the group’s first record with drummer Rufus Taylor - son of Queen legend Roger – who joined the lineup two years ago after the departure of Emily Dolan Davies following her work on 2015’s “Last Of Our Kind.”

The Darkness are currently playing dates in support of “Pinewood Smile” on a fall European tour that will wrap up in Bristol, UK on December 14.

The Darkness preview Pinewood Smile with Southern Trains video

The Darkness are streaming a video for the track “Southern Trains”, as the latest preview to their forthcoming album, “Pinewood Smile.”

“This song has genuine realness in it, innit,” says frontman Justin Hawkins about its reflection on the UK railway system. “Dan and I had to endure the Southern Trains ‘services’ during the making of this album. The only difference between a normal day on Southern Trains and a day when they're all on strike, is that on strike day the ArseClownery is deliberate.

“They are utterly incapable of running a reliable service. Fact. The rest of the world is laughing at us. I hope this song goes some way towards facilitating change...”

The video, which features the group performing the song via Snapchat footage, can be seen here.

Due October 6, “Pinewood Smile” was recorded in Cornwall, UK with producer Adrian Bushby (Foo Fighters, Muse).

The set delivers the group’s first record with drummer Rufus Taylor - son of Queen legend Roger – who joined the lineup in two years ago after the departure of Emily Dolan Davies following her work on 2015’s “Last Of Our Kind.”

“Pinewood Smile” was first previewed with the lead single, “All The Pretty Girls”, and it’s follow-up, “Solid Gold.”

The Darkness will launch the album on a European tour that will begin in Limerick, Ireland on October 13; the trek includes 17 dates in their native UK throughout November and December, highlighted by a headline appearance at London’s Hammersmith Eventim Apollo on December 10.

The Darkness are streaming “All The Pretty Girls” as the lead single and preview to their forthcoming album, “Pinewood Smile.”

Due October 6, the band’s fifth set was recorded in Cornwall, UK with producer Adrian Bushby (Foo Fighters, Muse).

The project delivers the group’s first record with drummer Rufus Taylor - son of Queen legend Roger Taylor – who joined the lineup in two years ago after the departure of Emily Dolan Davies when she replaced original sticksman Ed Graham for sessions on 2015’s “Last Of Our Kind.”

“Why should anybody care? Because if you don't, we're f-d!!,” says frontman Justin Hawkins of the forthcoming album. “History will remember us as the apathetic generation who negligently ushered in a dreadful dystopian age that may or may not come to be known as ‘The Rise of the Arseclowns’. We cannot allow this to continue!

“You may not give a s**t about Brexit or Trump, but PLEASE... give a s**t about The Darkness otherwise the last bastion of cultural sensibility will fall and our airwaves will be polluted by meaningless pop purveyed by a***holes and morons... Oh wait!”
