VIDEO: Red Hot Chili Peppers – Brendan’s Death Song

The Red Hot Chili Peppers have released a new video from their “I’m With You” album.

Directed by Marc Klasfeld and shot in New Orleans, “Brendan’s Death Song” pays homage to the band’s long time friend Brendan Mullen.

Mullen is best known as the founder of the Hollywood punk rock club The Masque that he set up and ran from 1977 until it was shut down in 1978 due to the city’s refusal to issue the necessary permits to run it as a legal nightclub.

After its closure, Mullen spent many years booking shows for Club Lingerie. It was during this time he met Anthony Kiedis and Flea and after hearing their demo, Mullen offered them an opening slot on a Bad Brains show.

The Peppers credit him as one of their first major supports and giving them their start.

The band is currently playing shows across Europe for the next five weeks.
