Rock News Artist of The Year No. 4 – SAMMY HAGAR

As Sammy Hagar and The Circle resumed live performances in January, the band previewed their forthcoming debut studio album with the lead track, “Trust Fund Baby.”

The group launched a US tour in April, just weeks before Hagar kicked off season four of the AXS-TV series “Rock & Roll Road Trip”, and the release of the full “Space Between” record.

Aided by an album/concert ticket bundle for the spring trek, the album debuted at No. 4 on the US Billboard 200 while landing at No. 1 on four other charts: Top Album Sales, Top Rock Albums, Hard Rock Albums and Independent Albums.

The group stopped by the Howard Stern Show to chat about the project and tour in April, where they also performed the Van Halen classic, “Finish What Ya Started.”

The spring series wrapped up in early June, with Hagar and The Circle playing a few shows in August as they prepared to headline the Red Rocker’s second annual High Tide Beach Party & Car Show in Huntington Beach, CA in September; the event was ultimately cancelled after organizers reportedly failed to secure the necessary permits.

In October, Hagar premiered a short film based on “Space Between”; directed by ZZ Satriani, the project is based on what the singer refers to as “a concept record about money, greed, enlightenment and truth.”

Hagar hosted his annual birthday bash concert series in Cabo San Lucas, Mexico in October as he celebrated turning 72; the rocker closed out the year with more dates with The Circle before participating in an “Evening With” event at the Grammy Museum in Los Angeles that saw him interviewed by moderator Scott Goldman before being joined by guitarist Vic Johnson to perform an acoustic set of classic tracks for the crowd in attendance.

Hagar and the band currently have a few spring 2020 concerts on their schedule, including a number of shows in South America in March.
