VIDEO: Stone Temple Pilots perform with Joss Stone on Jimmy Kimmel Live

Stone Temple Pilots teamed up with soul singer Joss Stone for a performance on Jimmy Kimmel Live on Monday.

The latest installment of the ABC-TV late night program’s “Mash-Up Mondays” feature saw the pairing deliver “Interstate Love Song” under the banner of “Joss Stone Temple Pilots.”

Prior to the Kimmel appearance, Linkin Park singer Chester Bennington announced his departure from Stone Temple Pilots after two years following the February 2013 firing of original frontman Scott Weiland.

Bennington expressed his thanks to STP for their inspiration and time together as he struggled to juggle his work with the group alongside his Linkin Park and personal obligations.

“The last few years have been an amazing experience,” said Bennington. “I got to create and perform with one of the greatest rock bands of our generation, that had so much influence on me growing up. With the amount of time STP deserves, in addition to being in Linkin Park, and with the needs of my family, one of them always seems to fall short.

“Going in to this, the four of us… Robert, Eric, Dean and myself knew what we were up against. We decided in due fairness to friends, fans and the legacy of STP that it needs more than time was allowing me. And in all fairness to my bandmates in Linkin Park, as well as to myself and to my family, I’m going to focus solely on Linkin Park so I can contribute 100%. It’s been an amazing experience and a dream come true, and I look forward to the future of both STP and Linkin Park.”

STP members Robert and Dean DeLeo and Eric Kretz thanked Bennington for his efforts and vowed to search for a new singer so that the band may move forward with new music.

“Miracle Worker” is the lead track from the band’s debut, due out September 19 (Sep. 20 in North America).

Jagger and Stewart co-produced the album, which was recorded in various studios around the world, including those in France, Cyprus, Miami and India. VIDEO: Joss Stone, Dave Stewart rock the Tonight Show

Joss Stone returns to action with the release of her fifth album, “LP1,” on July 26.

As a world-renowned soul singer who Smokey Robinson calls "Aretha Joplin," Joss has sold over 11 million records globally. Having just turned 24, Joss has already amassed a career's worth of successes. She is a Grammy winner, five-time Grammy nominee, and the recipient of several Brit Awards.

Stone recently established her own label, Stone’d Records, and has partnered with Surfdog to release LP1. This is the first album Joss has recorded with total creative freedom. She co-wrote and co -produced it with super-producer and Eurythmics co-founder, Dave Stewart; together, they immersed themselves into a rock n' soul musical odyssey in Nashville, Tennessee, finishing LP1 in only six days.

“This is the most fun I’ve ever had making a record with Crazy Dave Stewart at the helm, and yes the players in Nashville are unbelievable!!!” says Stone. “This album captures a specific moment in time that was spontaneous and full of creativity.”

"Joss can sing with the ferocity of a lioness and dynamically switch to the most delicate whisper in the same phrase,"
says Stewart. "She is always honest and full of real emotion. It is an honor to work alongside a true artist who understands so much at such a young age."

Joss and Dave are also working together as part of SuperHeavy – the new supergroup that also features Mick Jagger, composer A.R. Rahman and reggae artist Damian Marley; their debut is due September 20.

Stone and Stewart teamed up for a rocking live performance on Jay Leno’s show this past Monday…check it out:

SuperHeavy: Mick Jagger supergroup to release debut in September

Mick Jagger’s new supergroup – SuperHeavy – will release its debut album this September.

The SuperHeavy lineup features Jagger, Eurythmics founder Dave Stewart, singer Joss Stone, composer A.R. Rahman and reggae artist Damian Marley.

Jagger and Stewart co-produced the album, which was recorded in various studios around the world, including those in France, Cyprus, Miami and India. The majority of the tracks were laid down over three weeks in Los Angeles earlier this year. The quartet wrote 22 songs in their first six days together.

The first single is titled "Miracle Worker" and the band will be recording a video for the track.

Jagger and Stewart had worked together on the 2004 soundtrack to the film "Alfie" and Stewart produced Stone's last album. Both wanted to bring in a Jamaican musician and Marley entered the picture with his rhythm section, bassist and composer Shiah Coore and drummer Courtney Diedrick. They met Rahman while recording in Los Angeles.

According to the band's bio, SuperHeavy came together after Jagger and Stewart wondered what a band of musicians from different genres would sound like. Jagger had his doubts it would come together.

One of the first on the album is Jagger singing in Urdu. He takes lead on Rahman's song "Satyameva Jayate," which translates to "the truth alone triumphs."

"It's different from anything else I've ever been involved in," Jagger told Rolling Stone last month. "The music is very wide-ranging – from reggae to ballads to Indian songs in Urdu."

"We didn't know what the hell we were doing,"
added Stewart. "We were just jamming and making a noise. It was like when a band first starts up in your garage. Sometimes Damien would kick it off and then Joss would sing something on top of it. We might have a 22 minute jam, and it would become a six minute song."
