Mike Starr tops the hennemusic Hot 10

The recent passing of former Alice In Chains bassist Mike Starr made headlines around the world, as fans tried to make sense of it all.

A public memorial for Starr was set for Sunday, March 20 in Seattle, in the hope that fans would have a place to gather to remember Mike and his contributions to life, AIC, and music in general.

The HH10 is a list of the most-viewed rock news stories in the past week by hennemusic readers.

Rock fans continue to check hennemusic for the Motley Crue/Poison tour dates, which was the #2 news item of the week, following 2 weeks in the top spot.

Comments by Steven Tyler that his American Idol experience has taught him that his music “era is over,” came in at #3. Tyler was offering his insight into the changes in the entertainment industry; when Aerosmith started, artists had to pay their dues by playing anywhere and everywhere, in direct contrast to the ‘new system’ of reality shows and online, which often pushes people to the top in a quicker, more efficient manner.

The Rock & Roll Hall Of Fame induction took place in NYC on Monday, and Alice Cooper was the main rock attraction. Video of Alice’s interviews at the historic event were the 4th most-read rock story of the week.

Van Halen fans continue to keep the band’s album/tour rumor story in the Top 5, while news that Aerosmith will perform on American Idol was #6 – in fact, it was actually #1 to guitarist Joe Perry, who knew nothing about it when asked by the Boston Herald later in the week.

Other top stories of the week included news that a new Pearl Jam album is in the works, a new Best-Of compilation by metal legends Iron Maiden is on the way, and the definitive answer from Gene Simmons about when the original KISS lineup will reunite rounded out the HH10.
