James Durbin tops the hennemusic Hot 10

Rocker James Durbin’s post-American Idol career has already started, and fans are looking for more, as the Santa Cruz Kid tops the hennemusic Hot 10 this week.

Following the singer’s shocking May 12 ouster from the reality show, James quickly went into full-on media mode, heading to New York City for interviews and appearances on a wide range of programs.

On Live! With Regis & Kelly, James brought out the full version of Carole King’s “Will You Still Love Me Tomorrow,” which continues to get rave reviews from hennemusic readers.

More James Durbin at #3, as he rocked The Tonight Show the day after his Idol elimination. Durbin sat in with the show’s band as they performed many of the rock songs that James sang on the reality series.

New Queensryche is on the minds – and now, in the ears – of fans of the Seattle band as Amazon hosts audio samples of the band’s new album, “Dedicated To Chaos,” due out June 28.

Some big Van Halen news this week, as the L.A. band takes up 3 of the final 6 spots on the HH10. Up first – at #5 - the band’s first series of 2011 concerts were announced about 10 days ago, and fans continue to check-in with hennemusic for the latest live VH news. At #6, news about an Eddie VH photo book due out this fall by noted rock photographer Neil Zlozower. And, landing in the #10 position, only hours after the story went online, is a news update on the current VH sessions as the band continues at work in the studio on a new album. Slash, of all people, told the U.K.’s Rock Radio that VH are in the mixing stages these days, thanks to a mutual employee the two bands share.

Other big stories this week include an AC/DC book-signing tour for singer Brian Johnson, which happens this coming week in the New York area; check the story for details so you don’t miss out on a rare in-store appearance. Rush’s Alex Lifeson confirmed that the Canadian rockers will return to the studio in September to continue work on “Clockwork Angels,” set for release in 2012. And Steven Tyler is now a celebrated author, with the news that his new autobiography, “Does The Noise In My Head Bother You?” had a huge debut on the New York Times Best Seller List.
