Michael Monroe and Slash rock I Live Too Fast To Die Young title track

Michael Monroe has released a video for the title track to his latest album, “I Live Too Fast To Die Young”, which features a guest appearance by Slash on lead guitar.

“Slash is one of the nicest guys that I know and one of rock’s greatest guitarists as he’s maintained the spontaneity, the human touch and the heartfelt kick-ass attitude in his playing,” says Monroe. “I figured this would be a good one for him to play a solo on, he said he loved the song and that it’s super catchy!”

“Having Slash play an absolutely ripping guitar solo on it was a real honor,”
adds guitarist Rich Jones, “and it’s since become a fan favorite in our live shows.”

Monroe recorded his tenth studio set at Inkfish Studios in Helsinki, Finland between November and December 2021.

“This one started life as just a song title - a tongue-in-cheek nod to Vivienne Westwood’s ‘Too Fast To Live, Too Young To Die’ t-shirts after I had been gifted one by a fan in Japan,” explains Jones about the inspiration for the song. “It’s a reference to Michael’s seemingly boundless energy and the fact that he’s still kicking ass after all these years.”

“I love reinventing old clichés,”
Monroe laughs. “The whole ‘live fast, die young’ cliché is so boring, so I live too fast to die young! It takes more to survive and be here today than to self-destruct and die young!”

Monroe and Motorhead’s Phil Campbell And The Bastard Sons will hit the road next month with Black Star Riders on that band’s 10th anniversary UK tour; the series will open on February 13 at Nottingham’s Rock City.

Michael Monroe releases Derelict Palace video

Michael Monroe has released a video for “Derelict Palace”, a track from his latest album, “I Live Too Fast To Die Young.”

“'Derelict Palace' is about watching someone that you care about disappear into drug addiction," guitarist Rich Jones explains. “I had been listening to a lot of post-punk when I wrote it - Echo & The Bunnymen, Psychedelic Furs, The Church - and I wanted to see if we could push the band in that kind of musical direction."

“The song was written about people who get a little too into drugs and before you know it, they kind of disappear from all of the people and things that they used to love,”
adds Monroe. “Of course, that’s sad, but that said, there’s something cool about being an outcast and not fitting in… This is one of my favorite songs off the ‘I Live Too Fast To Die Young’ album and it adds a nice new dimension to my band’s sound and style. Plus, we found the perfect place to film the video for it!”

Monroe recorded his tenth studio set at Inkfish Studios in Helsinki, Finland between November and December 2021.

Michael Monroe streams Rock Hard Festival performance

Michael Monroe recently performed at the 2022 edition of Germany's Rock Hard Festival, and pro-shot video of the Finnish rocker’s full set is streaming online.

The June 5 appearance took place just days before Monroe released his latest album, “I Live Too Fast To Die Young.”

Monroe recorded his tenth studio set at Inkfish Studios in Helsinki, Finland between November and December 2021 with a lineup that includes Steve Conte (guitars and vocals), Rich Jones (guitar, vocals), Karl Rockfist (drums) and Sami Yaffa (bass/vocals/guitar).

“This album has a great combination and balance of songs, and the collection tells a great overall story,” says Monroe, who became internationally famous as frontman of the enormously influential Hanoi Rocks in the early ‘80s. “It has a lot of color and energy, and of course it is rock ’n’ roll, but punk is also always going to be a part of who we are, that will never die."

Monroe will wrap up his current live dates with an August 27 show in Sheffield, UK and a September 23 performance in Helsinki.

Michael Monroe streams new single Everybody’s Nobody

Michael Monroe is streaming a video for “Everybody’s Nobody”, the latest single from his forthcoming album, “I Live Too Fast To Die Young.”

“It’s a tongue-in-cheek tale about letting go of the ‘good old days’ and finding the things that make you happy here and now,” says Monroe. “A lot of artists in our position seem content to bask in the glow of nostalgia instead of striving to move forward. And since they never ‘made it big’, they’d rather claim that they never really wanted to.

“The title can also be about your own self-worth,”
adds Monroe, “everybody’s at least been a nobody and that’s already an achievement in itself.”

“Everybody’s Nobody” follows “Murder The Summer Of Love” and “Can’t Stop Falling Apart” as the third preview to Monroe’s tenth studio album, which he recorded at Inkfish Studios in Helsinki, Finland between November and December 2021.

Due June 10, “I Live Too Fast To Die Young” will be available in multiple formats, including CD Digipak, 12” Red Vinyl, Signed Limited Edition 12” Vinyl with Alternative Artwork, Digital Download, Streaming and special D2C bundles.

Michael Monroe streams new single Can't Stop Falling Apart

Michael Monroe is streaming a video for “Can't Stop Falling Apart”, the latest single from his forthcoming album, “I Live Too Fast To Die Young.”

“It’s an ode to our wives and loved ones who have stuck by our sides through years of playing music and touring the world,” says Monroe. “But this can also apply to any person working hard, away from home a lot of the time, who is lucky enough to have a loved one sticking by their side through thick and thin. So, it’s a celebratory song to our nearest and dearest who are always there for us.”

“It's a big, 1970's Slade-inspired glam stomper,”
adds guitarist Rich Jones. “It celebrates our loved ones who support us through the ups and downs of being a touring musician.”

“Can't Stop Falling Apart” follows “Murder The Summer Of Love” as the second preview to Monroe’s tenth studio album, which he recorded at Inkfish Studios in Helsinki, Finland between November and December 2021.

Due June 10, “I Live Too Fast To Die Young” will be available in multiple formats, including CD Digipak, 12” Red Vinyl, Signed Limited Edition 12” Vinyl with Alternative Artwork, Digital Download, Streaming and special D2C bundles.

Michael Monroe streams Last Train To Tokyo video

Michael Monroe is streaming a video for “Last Train To Tokyo”, the second single from his forthcoming album, “One Man Gang.”

Directed and edited by Toni Kristian Tikkanen, the clip was recorded in Japan and features footage from the group's performances at the recent Summer Sonic 2019 festivals in Osaka and Tokyo.

"It's a groovy, rockin' track paying homage to Tokyo and Japan, one of the most rockin' countries in the world," says Monroe. "In the '80s Hanoi Rocks had, and I have always had, a very special relationship with Japan and it will always be one my favorite countries. Plus, they still live for rock 'n' roll as it should be celebrated, they still have physical product, they still make it crazy, exhausting and really exciting every time you go there, which I am really grateful for."

In sync with the “Last Train To Tokyo” video release, Monroe has also announced a three-date tour of Japan, with stops in Osaka (Dec 2), Shibuya City (Dec 3) and Nagoya (Dec 6).

Due October 18, Monroe’s eleventh studio record will feature guest appearances by ex-Hanoi Rocks guitarist Nasty Suicide and The Damned legend Captain Sensible.

The band will launch the project with a three-week fall tour of Europe that will begin in Helsinki, Finland on October 19 and wrap up with a 10-date UK run at the Hard Rock Hell Festival in Great Yarmouth, UK on November 9.

Michael Monroe is streaming a lyric video for the title track to his forthcoming album, “One Man Gang.”

“It sometimes seems like everybody’s pissing on their own parade,” says Monroe, “whether that’s voting stupid people into power and then complaining about them or whatever, but I’m all about living with a P.M.A. – positive mental attitude – and I’ll never allow myself to be forced away from that.”

Featuring a guest appearance by Captain Sensible of The Damned, the tune marks the lead single from the project, which was recorded and mixed by Petri Majuri at E-Studio in Sipoo, Finland over three weeks in March of 2018.

Michael Monroe joined Metallica’s Robert Trujillo and Kirk Hammett for a performance of his 1989 single, “Dead, Jail Or Rock 'N' Roll", at the Hartwall Arena in Helsinki, Finland on May 9, and the band are streaming professional video from the event.

The tune, which appeared on the Hanoi Rocks’ singer’s second solo record, “Not Fakin’ It”, made headlines when it was originally issued with an accompanying video that featured Guns N’ Roses singer Axl Rose and secured rotation on MTV back in the day.

A legend in his native country, the Finnish rocker’s latest release is 2015’s “Blackout States.”

The May 9 stop in Helsinki is the first of two dates in the city, as Metallica prepare to wrap up their current arena tour of Europe with another show at the same venue on May 11.

Metallica will enjoy a break from their WorldWired tour in support of “Hardwired…To Self-Destruct” this summer before launching a North American arena run this fall.

"Following last summer's sold-out 25-date stadium run,” says the band, “this year we're bringing the in-the-round production currently being seen in European arenas to the U.S. and Canada kicking off on September 2, 2018 in Madison, WI.

“Along the way we'll be visiting 34 cities we did not go to last year, including a few we haven't been to in decades, including Grand Forks, ND (nearly 30 years), Sioux Falls, SD, El Paso, TX, Birmingham, AL (nearly 26 years) and State College, PA (20 years). About time, wouldn't you say?!”

Michael Monroe details new best of collection

Finnish rocker Michael Monroe has revealed the track list for his upcoming 2-disc set,“The Best.”

Due June 30 via Spinefarm Records, the 29-track career-spanning collection delivers material from Monroe’s solo career, which he launched in 1987 after the demise of Hanoi Rocks due to the death of drummer Nicholas “Razzle” Dingley in a 1984 car crash with a drunken Vince Neil of Motley Crue behind the wheel.

Monroe’s 1987 debut, “Nights Are So Long”, was followed by a series of studio releases up to, and including his latest, 2015’s “Blackout States.”

“And since Slash has the biggest heart of gold in rock 'n' roll, he was kind enough to allow me to use it on this album. God bless him!"

The set also features two other previously unreleased songs, "Fist Fulla Dynamite" and "Simpletown", outtakes from "Blackout States", and the new single "One Foot Outta The Grave."

Monroe will kick off an extensive 2-month tour of his Finnish homeland with an appearance at Rockfest in Vanataa on June 10.

Michael Monroe to release best of collection

Finnish rocker Michael Monroe will release “The Best”, a 2-CD, 29-track career-spanning collection on June 30 via Spinefarm Records.

"This album is a great representation of my 30-year solo career,” says Monroe, “including four songs from the Little Steven-produced ‘Demolition 23’ album – which has been unavailable for over 20 years – plus some special rarities and previously unreleased bonus tracks."

Monroe launched his solo career in 1987 after the demise of Hanoi Rocks following the death of drummer Nicholas “Razzle” Dingleyin a 1984 car crash; he was a passenger while Motley Crue singer Vince Neil was speeding drunk on his way to the liquor store for more alcohol.

“The Best” includes high-profile numbers such as "Dead, Jail Or Rock 'N' Roll" (from his second solo album, 1989's "Not Fakin' It", the promo clip for which features an onstage cameo from Axl Rose) and "'78" from 2011's "Sensory Overdrive", voted "Album Of The Year" by Classic Rock magazine.

"There's a couple of extra special tracks like 'It's A Lie,' sung as a duet with Stiv Bators (Dead Boys, Lords Of The New Church) back in 1985,” Monroe explains, “and a never-before-released second version of the Steppenwolf cover 'Magic Carpet Ride,' featuring Slash, left over from the Coneheads soundtrack project that Slash did with me in 1993.

Michael Monroe premieres Goin’ Down With The Ship video

Finnish rocker Michael Monroe is premiering the video for “Goin’ Down With The Ship”, the latest single from his 10th album, “Blackout States.”

“The song is not necessarily about sailing or seamanship as such,” explains Monroe. “It’s basically about us getting on the tour bus and hitting the road with our band. Ville Juurikkala, who shot the videos for ‘Ballad of the Lower East Side,’ ‘Stained Glass Heart,’ and ‘Old King’s Road’ has done this new one, too.

“It was pretty easy to make and includes some footage shot by the band while we were on tour. I think the video has a good vibe and we’re all happy with the way it turned out. Hope you enjoy it!”

Monroe recorded the follow-up to 2013’s “Horns And Halos” with his touring band – bassist Sami Yaffa (ex-Hanoi Rocks/New York Dolls), guitarist Steve Conte (ex-New York Dolls/Company Of Wolves), guitarist Rich Jones (ex-Black Halos/Amen) and drummer Karl Rockfist (ex-Chelsea Smiles/Danzig).

The singer launches a 2-week series of US shows with Sweden’s Hardcore Superstar tonight in Las Vegas.

Michael Monroe premieres Old King’s Road video

Finnish rocker Michael Monroe is premiering the video for “Old King’s Road”, the lead single from his forthcoming album, “Blackout States.”

Due October 9, Monroe’s 10tth studio effort was produced by Chips Kiesbye (Hellacopters, Nomads) in Gothenburg, Sweden and mixed by Petri Majuri in Helsinki, Finland.

Monroe recorded the follow-up to 2013’s “Horns And Halos” with his touring band – bassist Sami Yaffa (ex-Hanoi Rocks/New York Dolls), guitarist Steve Conte (ex-New York Dolls/Company Of Wolves), guitarist Rich Jones (ex-Black Halos/Amen) and drummer Karl Rockfist (ex-Chelsea Smiles/Danzig).

“I’m extremely excited about our new album, Blackout States,” says Monroe. “It has all the ingredients of a perfect rock ‘n’ roll record – strong melodic songs with great meaningful lyrics that defy all clichés, delivered with a punky, ballsy attitude by a killer band.

“I highly recommend ‘Blackout States’ to anyone who’s even a little bit interested in what real, authentic, high energy rock ‘n’ roll at its best sounds like today.”

Monroe will play a co-headlining tour with Sweden’s Hardcore Superstar this fall along with some UK dates with Alice Cooper.

Michael Monroe joined Alice Cooper for his 1972 classic, “School’s Out”, at the Tuska festival in Helsinki, Finland on Sunday.

Cooper’s encore with Monroe wrapped up a 24-song set the event as the shock rocker performs on his Raise The Dead tour.

“Hey, had a FANTASTIC time with Alice Cooper tonight at the Tuska Festival in Helsinki!!,” posted Monroe after the show. “Thank You, Alice! Thank You Toby, the Band & the entire crew & everybody there! Good times!!”

The former Hanoi Rocks frontman will release his 10th studio album, “Blackout States”, on October 16.

Monroe recorded the album with his touring band – bassist Sami Yaffa (ex-Hanoi Rocks/New York Dolls), guitarist Steve Conte (ex-New York Dolls/Company Of Wolves), guitarist Rich Jones (ex-Black Halos/Amen) and drummer Karl Rockfist (ex-Chelsea Smiles/Danzig).
