Rock News Artist of The Year No. 5 – GUNS N' ROSES

As Guns N’ Roses prepared to return to live action in late January, Slash reconfirmed that the band were actively working on new music while off the road.

Following a January 31 appearance at the 2020 Bud Light Super Bowl Fest in Miami, FL, the group announced a two-month summer tour of North America stadiums.

As news of the coronavirus broke and businesses started to shut down to prevent further spread, a March 18 show in Costa Rica was among the earliest events to be cancelled by that country’s Ministry Of Health, while GNR’s scheduled Lollapalooza gigs in South America were moved to late fall.

Guns N’ Roses managed to headline the Vive Latino festival in Mexico City, Mexico on March 14 after more than a dozen acts cancelled their appearance at the weekend event over coronavirus concerns.

Duff McKagan’s wife, Susan, shared an update on the band’s new music in April, just weeks before the group postponed planned 2020 European and North American shows.

Like many other artists, GNR launched a streaming series, “Not In This Lifetime Selects”, in May as a way of staying in touch with fans.

By mid-summer, GNR recsheduled the European and North American dates to next year while cancelling a South American run.

In September, Guns N’ Roses released the debut vinyl edition of their 2004 “Greatest Hits” collection, while Slash bassist Todd Kerns confirmed that the guitarist would release a new studio album next year with Myles Kennedy And The Conspirators.

GNR recently announced late 2021 tour dates for Australia and New Zealand.
