Aerosmith, Extreme & more to perform at Boston Strong event

Aerosmith, Boston, Extreme and more are among the artists who will perform at "Boston Strong: An Evening Of Support And Celebration," a benefit concert to be held at the TD Garden on Thursday, May 30.

Net ticket proceeds from the historic concert will benefit The One Fund Boston, set up by Massachusetts Governor Deval Patrick and Boston Mayor Thomas Menino to help the people most affected by the tragic events that occurred in Boston on April 15.

Tickets for the event will go on sale Monday at 10 a.m. through Ticketmaster for $35 to $285 (including all fees and service charges).

In an effort to make sure all net proceeds from ticket sales go directly to The One Fund, all tickets will be sold through Ticketmaster's paperless ticket delivery. Fans must have the credit card used to make the purchase and a valid, government-issued ID to gain entry.

"Live Nation and TD Garden have hosted thousands of concerts over the years, but none with such a sense of purpose as 'Boston Strong: A Concert Of Support And Celebration'," said Don Law, President of Live Nation New England, in a press release. "Boston is a city with strong roots, and homegrown artists reached out to us to see what could be done. We are proud to help solidify this huge concert lineup."

VIDEO: Godsmack singer unplugs for Metallica cover

Godsmack frontman Sully Erna is currently playing some solo dates before the band regroups to hit the road again late next week.

Erna is out promoting the upcoming release of “Avalon Live,” a live DVD/Blu-ray featuring the singer performing material from his 2010 solo effort, “Avalon.”

The DVD was filmed at Erna’s Boston show on December 16, 2011. An update on the project’s release comes from director Dan Catullo:

"For anybody wondering - "Avalon Live" will be released as a box set this Spring (probably late April) and then in 3D and as a single disc (Blue Ray 2D and in 3D) in the Fall. The box set will have 3 DVD's (the show, the "Journey To Avalon" documentary and a behind the scenes doc), 2 CD's, a book, T-shirt, guitar pick, poster, incense, etc and a custom metal Sully Erna engraved metal box with a suede lining! Only 5,000 will be available!! Start spreading the word!!"

Camp Freddy & guests rock L.A. December 3

All-star jam band Camp Freddy have returned to The Roxy in L.A. for their annual Christmas residency.

Camp Freddy are a rotating band of players, but the core is typically based around guitarist Dave Navarro, guitarist Billy Morrison (Billy Idol), drummer Matt Sorum (Velvet Revolver), singer Donovan Leitch (son of legendary folk singer Donovan), and bassist Chris Chaney (Jane’s Addiction, Alanis Morrisette).

During December, the band will play shows December 3, 10 and 17...as welel as a New Year's Eve gig.

Week One of the Annual 2010 Camp Freddy Residency opened with a bang on December 3 when, for the fourth year in a row, the band and their friends rocked the Sunset Strip at a sold-out Roxy Theater. It has become an annual tradition that Camp Freddy play a weekly show throughout December at The Roxy, and perform a different set with different guests each week.

"The idea is to have a cheap ticket price so that everyone can come and have fun at the end of the year," says band singer and MC, Donovan Leitch. "We play a lot of shows throughout the year that are private or 'red rope affairs', so we like to close out the year with some real, up close and personal, loud rock n roll and invite everyone to come down!."

This year, the shows sold out in just a few days, so the band have added a New Years Eve show at The Roxy, which is on sale now. Dave Navarro (the band’s lead guitarist) and Chris Chaney (bass) will not be at the NYE show, but Steve Stevens (Billy Idol) and Chris Wyse (The Cult) will be joining the band onstage.

The December 3rd show included guitarist Steve Stevens and featured a variety of guests, including Glenn Hughes (Deep Purple, Black Sabbath, Black Country Communion), Sully Erna (GODSMACK), Franky Perez (Carnival Of Dogs), Nikki Costa and Richard Patrick (FILTER).

hennemusic Halloween Festival (part 1)

Welcome to the hennemusic rock n’ roll Halloween festival!

Halloween is said to have its roots in the Celtic festival of Samhain and the Christian holiday All Saints' Day. Samhain marked the end of the harvest, the end of the "lighter half" of the year and beginning of the "darker half". Traditionally celebrated over the course of several days, many scholars believe that it was the beginning of the Celtic year.

In part 1 of the hennemusic Halloween festival, we open with tunes from Marilyn Manson, Helloween, Nekromantix, Godsmack, Concrete Blonde and Oingo Boingo.

Part 2 will feature Black Sabbath, Iron Maiden, Meat Loaf, Warren Zevon, The Cramps and the Edgar Winter Group.
