Red Hot Chili Peppers top the hennemusic Hot 10

The Red Hot Chili Peppers are, well, red hot, as they top this week’s hennemusic Hot 10.

Ahead of the August 30 release of their 10th studio album, “I’m With You,” the Peppers played a couple of Summer Sonic festivals in Japan recently where they played three songs from the new disc, and hennemusic has video for fans to check out.

The HH10 is a list of the most-viewed rock news stories in the past week by hennemusic readers.

At #2 this week on the HH10, we have video of Sammy Hagar doing a Grand Funk Railroad cover in Detroit with Kid Rock at one of the Kid’s hometown shows, both of which were opened by the Red Rocker.

“Miracle Worker,” the first single/video from SuperHeavy – the new supergroup led by Mick Jagger and Dave Stewart – came in at #3, with its cool reggae-infused beats and triple vocals by Jagger, Damian Marley and Joss Stone.

Another Hagar-related item lands at #4 as Chickenfoot news reveals the band had plans recently to audition Kenny Aronoff for the vacant drum chair for some fall tour dates, as Chad Smith is back full time with the Red Hot Chili Peppers.

Three of the bottom five on the HH10 this week are Van Halen items, as anticipation and rumors build for their upcoming new album with David Lee Roth.

At #5, speculation by Triple M radio Melbourne that promoters are trying to snag VH for some early 2012 tour dates in the wake of the cancellation of the Soundwave Revolution festival this fall, which was to be headlined by VH. #6 has Eddie VH feeling the pressure of trying to better his past with the new music and, at #10, a shaky rumor that the new VH single could be released this coming Tuesday. As usual, no word on anything from the band itself while others jockey for position as unofficial spokespeople. Stay tuned.

Other items include an inconclusive autopsy in the death of former Warrant lead singer Jani Lane (#8), and a set of new AC/DC wine is now available throughout Australia (#9).
