The “Step Inside” documentary arrives in sync with the 30th anniversary reissues of the group’s fourth album, “Hysteria.”
Due August 4, a remastered edition of the record will be issued in various packages, including a 7-disc Super Deluxe Edition, 3CD Deluxe Version, 1CD Vanilla Version, 2-LP Black Vinyl Version and a limited edition 2-LP Colored Vinyl Version.
The reissues include B-sides and live tracks, plus the audio for “In The Round In Your Face (Live)” on CD for the first time.
“Hysteria” reached No. 1 in the band’s native UK and the US, where it went on to achieve Diamond status for sales of more than 10 million while selling more than 25 million copies worldwide.
Currently off the road, Def Leppard will head to South America to begin a series of shows there in September.
Metallica delivered a tribute to Van Halen during their July 29 performance at the Rose Bowl in the latter band’s hometown of Pasadena, CA, and the group are sharing professional footage from the concert.
Frontman James Hetfield led the rockers through an abbreviated version of Van Halen’s 1978 classic, “Runnin’ With The Devil”, complete with an attempt to replicate David Lee Roth’s iconic screams on the tune.
"That's all I can sing," Hetfield told the crowd. "That's a little homage to the Pasadena boys, alright. Sorry you had to put up with that,” adding, “That wasn’t too bad … that was kinda fun.”
The tribute appeared just prior to the closing number of the group’s main set, “Seek & Destroy.”
Van Halen was formed in Pasadena, CA in 1972 by brothers Eddie and Alex Van Halen.
Metallica toured the US with the classic rockers in 1988 on the Monsters Of Rock trek, where the pair were joined by Scorpions, Dokken, Living Colour and Kingdom Come.
Metallica’s appearance at The Rose Bowl is part of their WorldWired tour in support of 2016’s “Hardwired…To Self-Destruct.”
The show marked the band’s return to the stage after a two-week break on the summer North American run, which will wrap up in Edmonton, AB on August 16.
Supergroup Black Country Communion will return this fall with the release of their fourth album, “BCCIV”, via Mascot Records on September 22.
The lineup of bassist/vocalist Glenn Hughes, guitarist Joe Bonamassa, keyboardist Derek Sherinian and drummer Jason Bonham recorded the set at Cave Studios in Los Angeles with producer Kevin Shirley.
"We had around 4 months to write this album, and I think the results speak for themselves," says Hughes. "All four of us wanted to make a record that stood up to the first three albums, however, the new album is more of a progression, as we wanted to be careful not to repeat the previous albums. A lot has happened since we last recorded the Aferglow album in 2013, so, in many ways, the new album shows BCC with a much harder, riffier and bigger and bolder sound. If you’re looking for a folk album, this ain’t the one.
"I wanted the new album to physically shake your soul," he added, “It’s a wake-up call."
“BCCIV” will be previewed soon with the lead single, “Collide.”
Formed in 2009, the band issued their self-titled debut album in 2010, “Black Country Communion 2” in 2011 and “Afterglow” in 2012.
Black Country Communion will launch “BCCIV” with two exclusive concerts in the UK in January, with shows at the Wolverhampton Civic Hall on January 2 and London’s Hammersmith Apollo on January 4.
These will be the only two concerts the band will play in the UK and Europe. Planet Rock will run a 48-hour ticket pre-sale from 9 AM on Wednesday, August 2nd. Order your pre-sale tickets from planetrock.com.
Tickets will then go on sale to the general public from 0844 844 0444 and can be booked online from www.ticketmaster.co.uk and www.eventim.co.uk.

The Rolling Stones will release a 50th anniversary reissue of the 1967 album, "Their Satanic Majesties Request", via ABKCO Music on September 22.
Available as a special Deluxe Edition box set containing double vinyl/double hybrid Super Audio CD (compatible with all CD players), the set delivers both the stereo and mono versions of the project newly-remastered by Bob Ludwig.
Originally released in December of 1967, “Their Satanic Majesties Request” is the first self-produced album in The Rolling Stones’ catalog. Featuring the US Top 25 single, “She’s A Rainbow” – with string arrangements by future Led Zeppelin member John Paul Jones - the record peaked at No. 2 on the US Billboard 200 on its way to Gold status Stateside for sales of 500,000 copies.
“Their Satanic Majesties Request” was recorded in pieces between February and October of 1967 during a tumultuous period for the group: Mick Jagger, Keith Richards and Brian Jones were arrested for drug possession, with Jones spending three weeks in a nursing home. The Stones’ original manager/producer Andrew Loog Oldham quit halfway through recording sessions, leaving the band to finish the album on their own. Very rarely were all five members in the studio at the same time but despite these impediments, drummer Charlie Watts recalled, “The sessions were a lot of fun because you could do anything. It was so druggy - acid and all that.”
The 2017 reissue includes Michael Cooper’s original 3-D lenticular cover photograph, featuring the band at the peak of the psychedelic era, in a fold-out album limited edition numbered package with a 20 page book including more of Cooper’s photos from the original session.
“Their Satanic Majesties Request” was originally mixed in both stereo and mono, as was standard practice in 1967. The limited edition 50th anniversary edition will include the entire album on 180 gram vinyl in stereo, another 180 gram vinyl record in mono, and two hybrid Super Audio CDs (one in stereo and one in mono). Each of these discs includes the entire musical content in both Super Audio CD (SACD) as well as standard CD, providing for complete backward and forward hardware compatibility. The discs will play flawlessly on any SACD compatible or standard CD player.

The Eagles headlined the opening night of the inaugural Classic East festival at New York’s Citi Field on July 29, and video from the show has surfaced online.
Following opening sets by Steely Dan and The Doobie Brothers, The Eagles’ new lineup hit the stage featuring the late Glenn Frey’s son, Deacon, and country singer Vince Gill on board for the 2017 concert series.
The 24-song show mirrored the California band’s lineup debut at The Classic West festival at Dodger Stadium in Los Angeles on July 15, with one exception: the addition of Don Henley’s “New York Minute” from 1989’s “The End Of The Innocence”, performed live for the first time by the group since 2002.
Night two of Classic East – on July 30 – featured Fleetwood Mac alongside guests Journey and Earth, Wind & Fire.
The band will be joined by The Doobie Brothers for the show at Safeco Field, home of MLB’s Seattle Mariners.
Tickets for The Classic Northwest go on sale August 5 at 10AM PDT.
NOTE: The Eagles and/or their representatives appear to be very aggressive about removing live videos from YouTube these days; in the meantime, we'll do our best to continue to track down footage for fans.
TMZ reports the rocker’s family and closest friends gathered for a private funeral service Saturday afternoon at South Coast Botanic Garden, with many of the guests musicians who'd played or toured with Bennington and Linkin Park.
A full stage, including a drum kit, was set up for musical tributes to be performed.
Bennington’s family decided to have a private funeral as opposed to a public one for fans, and security was reportedly tight.
All attendees were given memorial wrist bands and an access pass, similar to most concert VIP passes.
A former member if the band Of Mice And Men, Austin Carlile, shared an image of the memorial pass, writing, "The service today was beautiful. Thank you Linkin Park, thank you Chester. For everything."
Bennington is survived by his wife, Talinda, and six children.
"One week ago, I lost my soulmate and my children lost their hero-their Daddy," she wrote via Twitter. "We had a fairytale life and now it has turned into some sick Shakespearean tragedy. How do I move on? How do I pick up my shattered soul? The only answer I know is to raise our babies with every ounce of love I have left.
"I want to let my community and the fans worldwide know that we feel your love. We feel your loss as well."
"My babies are so young to have lost their daddy,” she continued. “And I know that all of you will help keep his memory alive. He was a bright, loving soul with an angel's voice. And now he is pain-free, singing his songs in all of our hearts.
"May God Bless us all and help us turn to one another when we are in pain. Chester would've wanted us to do so. Rest in peace, my love."
Linkin Park recently launched a tribute website to their fallen bandmate with links to suicide prevention resources in case fans, or someone they know, needs support during a time of crisis.
Former Oasis singer Liam Gallagher performed his US solo debut during a secret show at the McKittrick Hotel in New York on July 18, and video from the event is streaming online.
“That was old skool last night NYC,” tweeted the rocker. “You smelt fantastic.”
Ahead of a scheduled appearance at Lollapalooza in Chicago, IL on August 3, Gallagher delivered a 13-song set of Oasis classics and tunes from his forthcoming debut album, “As You Were.”
Due October 6, the 15-track project was produced by Greg Kurstin (Adele, Beck) and Dan Grech-Marguerat (Radiohead, Mumford And Sons).
“As You Were” will be available in standard and deluxe editions on digital, CD, vinyl and limited edition coloured vinyl, with a special boxset also offered via Gallagher’s website.
The launch of the former Oasis singer’s solo career follows a five-year, two-record stint with Beady Eye, who disbanded in 2014.
The three-week, nine-show run will open in San Francisco, CA on November 13, with stops in several major markets including Chicago, Boston, New York, Philadelphia and Toronto, among others.
Axl Rose performed the AC/DC classic, “Highway To Hell”, with Billy Joel during the singer’s July 28 date at Target Field In Minneapolis, MN and fan-filmed video from the event has surfaced online.
Joel welcomed the Guns N’ Roses rocker to the stage late in his main set for the 1979 track, which Rose delivered regularly while on tour last year with AC/DC in the absence of long time frontman Brian Johnson.
“I ain’t a frontman, I’m a piano player,” Joel told the crowd. “I’m going to bring on a friend of mine … gonna do this next song with us. You probably know this song. Please welcome Axl Rose.”
Rose returned during the encore to join Joel on his 1978 hit, “Big Shot.”
The Guns N’ Roses leader was in the city ahead of a July 30 show with the band at the U.S. Bank Stadium as part of the newly-launched North American summer leg of their Not In This Lifetime tour, which opened in St. Louis, MO on July 27.
Rose made global headlines last year when he joined AC/DC for shows in Europe and the US after longtime vocalist Brian Johnson was sidelined from touring on the advice of doctors due to hearing loss issues.
Alter Bridge are streaming a live video for the track, "The Other Side", as a preview to the September 8 release of a new collection, “Live At The O2 Arena + Rarities”, via Napalm Records.
The clip mixes performance footage the band’s 2016 appearance at The O2 Arena and at 2017’s Download festival.
The forthcoming 3-CD package captures Alter Bridge in concert at the London O2 venue on November 24, 2016, alongside a disc of 13 rarities from their career.
While the first two discs feature the live performance, the third disc delivers 13 rarities from their career, including never-before released tracks "Cruel Sun" and "Solace” that were recorded during the sessions for their 2004 debut, “One Day Remains”, as well as the song “Breathe” from the same time which has only ever been available as a US retail exclusive via Best Buy.
These tracks join seven other songs that have only been released in Japan until this collection.
“Live At The O2 Arena + Rarities” will be available as a 3CD set, and limited deluxe editions – including a 4-LP set and a CD/DVD Earbook – which also include an exclusive Alter Bridge documentary featuring extensive interviews with the band, their crew, and family, giving a glimpse behind the scenes of the group’s biggest UK show to date.
Alter Bridge will play a handful of US shows next month before heading to South America in September.
The group plan to deliver a totally different set list than they played on a recently-completed summer run in the region.

Bennington died of suicide by hanging at his Palos Verdes Estates home after an employee discovered the singer hanging from a belt on a bedroom door early on the morning of July 20.
Following the incident, Linkin Park cancelled their North American tour in support of their seventh album, “One More Light”, which was to start in Mansfield, MA on July 27.
The group launched a tribute website to their fallen bandmate with links to suicide prevention resources in case fans, or someone they know, needs support during a time of crisis.
Guns N’ Roses opened the summer North American leg of their Not In This Lifetime tour in St. Louis, MO on July 27, and video from the event is streaming online.
The band’s 31-song set before 37,000 fans at The Dome At America’s Center mixed hits with classic tracks and ran a marathon 3.5 hours, according to The St. Louis Post-Dispatch.
The date marked GNR’s return to the midwestern city 26 years after a riot broke out at a 1991 concert when frontman Axl Rose tackled a spectator who was photographing the show, resulting in injuries, arrests and property damage.
This time, the rockers came in peace while extending an olive branch with a cheeky reference to the past.
“St. Louis - seems like just yesterday we were here,” said a voice off-stage as the band members took the stage.
A six-song encore included covers of AC/DC’s “Whole Lotta Rosie” and “The Seeker” by The Who, as well as “Sorry”, “Patience”, “Don’t Cry” and “Paradise City.”
“Hopefully we’ll see you again," said Rose at the end of the night. "Hopefully a lot sooner."
Def Leppard are streaming part one of their mini-documentary, “Step Inside: Hysteria At 30.”
The project opens with a look at the fallout from a 1984 car accident that saw drummer Rick Allen lose his left arm when his Corvette flipped off a country road. Meanwhile, recording for the the group’s fourth album proceeded slowly with drum machines while Allen recovered and learned how to play a combination electronic/acoustic drum kit to see if he could rejoin his band mates in the studio.
The documentary arrives in sync with the upcoming 30th anniversary reissues of the UK band’s 1987 album, “Hysteria.”
“It’s hard to believe that it’s been thirty years since the release of Hysteria,” says frontman Joe Elliott. “In some respects it really does seem like only yesterday. So, to mark this milestone, we wanted to do something very special for our fans and give them the definitive version of the album, one that incorporates all of the memories and milestones that we caught on tape and some of the madness that we got up to on the road. We hope it means as much to you as it does to us.”
Produced by Mutt Lange, “Hysteria” reached No. 1 in the band’s native UK and the US, where it went on to achieve Diamond status for sales of more than 10 million while selling more than 25 million copies worldwide.
The Cars are streaming the unreleased track, “They Won’t See You”, as a preview to the July 28 release of an expanded reissue of their 1979 album, “Candy-O.”
The Northern Studios session recording of the tune follows a stripped-down demo version originally included in the 1999 reissue of the Boston, MA band’s 1978 debut.
Led by the US Top 15 hit single “Let’s Go”, “Candy-O” reached No. 3 on the Billboard 200 on its way to US platinum sales within two months after release, eventually racking up US sales of more than 4 million copies.
The expanded “Candy-O” reissue features the original album plus six bonus tracks of alternate mixes and the previously unissued version of "They Won't See You."
An expanded reissue of The Cars’ third album, “Panorama”, will also be released on July 28.
The group’s third consecutive platinum album peaked at No. 3 on the Billboard 200 with the help of the US Top 40 single, “Touch And Go.”
The expanded reissue of “Panorama” presents the original release plus four bonus tunes, including the previously unreleased songs "Shooting For You," "Be My Baby" and "The Edge."
The “Candy-O” and “Panorama” reissues will be available on CD, 2LP vinyl and digitally.

Mick Jagger has issued videos for a pair of new songs: “England Lost” and “Gotta Get A Grip.”
The Rolling Stones frontman dropped the tracks on Thursday, the day after his 74th birthday.
“I'm excited to share new music with you!,” says Jagger. “I started writing these two songs a few weeks back and wanted to get them out to you straight away. Doing a whole album often takes a long time, even after finishing it, with all the record company preparations and global release set up. I feel a slight throwback to a time when you could be a bit more free and easy by recording and putting it out there immediately. Enjoy them.”
The rocker explains that he wrote the surprise tracks about the current climate in the UK as a reaction to the “anxiety [and] unknowability of the changing political situation. … We obviously have a lot of problems. So am I politically optimistic? No,” adding, “I didn't want to wait until next year when these two tracks might lose any impact and mean nothing."
British rapper Skepta joins Jagger on “England Lost”, a song that uses a soccer match as a metaphor for the country’s political turmoil, with a haunting black and white video featuring UK actor Luke Evans.
“It’s about the unknowability about where you are and the feeling of insecurity,” Jagger explains Jagger. “That’s how I was feeling when I was writing. It’s obviously got a fair amount of humor because I don’t like anything too on the nose but it’s also got a sense of vulnerability of where we are as a country.”
The rocker says the dancier “Gotta Get a Grip” also delivers a relevant message in these uncertain times.
“The message, I suppose, is despite all those things that are happening, you gotta get on with your own life, be yourself and attempt to create your own destiny,” he explained.
The project follows-up the successful 2016 blues covers record, “Blue & Lonesome.”
The band returns to live action this fall on the No Filter European tour, which opens at the Stadtpark in Hamburg, Germany on September 9.
The month-long run will also make stops in Austria, Switzerland, Italy, Spain, Holland, Denmark and Sweden before it wraps up with the second of two shows at the new U Arena in Paris, France on October 22.
Due September 8 and produced by Don Was, the project delivers a collection of songs written by Allman’s friends and favourite artists, including Jackson Browne, Willie Dixon, Jerry Garcia & Robert Hunter, Lowell George and Spooner Oldham & Dan Penn, meant to serve as a farewell to his legion of devoted fans and admirers.
“As his producer, I was dedicated to helping Gregg crystallize his vision for the record and to help make sure that this vision made it to the tape,” says Was. “He was a musical hero of mine and, in later years, had become a good friend. The gravitas of this particular situation was not lost on me. Gregg was a sweet, humble man with a good heart and good intentions and it was a great honor to help him put his musical affairs in order and say a proper farewell.”
Allman, well aware his time was short, approached the project with an unambiguously realistic agenda. High atop his list of goals was to capture the sound of the ultimate Gregg Allman Band in full flight, considering them the tightest knit combo of all the line-ups that had backed him over his 40+ year solo career.
“Gregg was very excited to be in the studio,” says friend and collaborator Michael Lehman. “He was especially thrilled to be recording this studio album with his solo band – he was so proud of them and loved the sound that they produced together. Gregg felt close to every single one of them. The Gregg Allman Band was like a family or a well-oiled machine, always knowing what the other band members were thinking and doing.”
The Southern rock and jam band legend recorded “Southern Blood” at the world-renowned FAME Studios in Muscle Shoals, AL.
“A constant discussion during all of my nearly 15 years working with Gregg was his desire to return to Muscle Shoals,” explains Lehman. “He always would talk about how he needed to get back to FAME Studios to bring him full circle.”
“Muscle Shoals is hallowed musical ground,” Was adds. “FAME was the place where Gregg’s brother Duane first started making waves in the music world and where the earliest seeds of The Allman Brothers Band were sown in a back room during their first, seminal rehearsals. Duane’s presence is still ubiquitous in that building. Recording there was Gregg’s way of making his spirit a part of this album, in the same way that his spirit continued to be part of Gregg’s life.”
Allman co-wrote the lead single with Gregg Allman Band guitarist/musical director Scott Sharrard.
“‘My Only True Friend’ was Gregg’s attempt to contextualize the course of his life,” says Was. “The man that his fans saw performing onstage was the essential Gregg Allman – he was whole and truly satisfied when he was up there playing music. The trials and troubles he faced in life were mostly the result of not knowing what to do with himself in between shows.
"In this song, he’s addressing a woman and explaining that, although he loves her and doesn’t want to face living his life alone, being away on the road and performing every night is his lifeblood. If you understand this about Gregg Allman, every other aspect of his life makes complete sense.”
Ahead of its September 8 release, a limited-edition, numbered double-sided picture disc of “Southern Blood” will be available at some local record shops to be announced or with pre-orders of the album via GreggAllman.com.

Iron Maiden frontman Bruce Dickinson’s memoir, “What Does This Button Do?”, will be published on October 19 via HarperCollins.
Following a stint with UK rockers Samson, Dickinson joined Iron Maiden in 1981, and made his first appearance with the group on record with the release of their third album, 1982’s “The Number Of The Beast.”
35 years and more than a dozen studio albums and countless world tours later, Dickinson has emerged as rock’s true renaissance man, engaged in off stage activities as an airline pilot and captain, an aviation entrepreneur, a beer brewer, motivational speaker, film scriptwriter, twice-published novelist, radio presenter, TV actor and a world-class fencer.
In “What Does This Button Do?”, Dickinson – a man who famously never gives interviews about his personal life – shares, for the first time, the most fascinating recollections, including his years with Iron Maiden, the early days, his childhood within the eccentric British school system, going solo, realizing his dream of flying jumbo jets and his recent battle with tongue cancer.
Dickinson worked on the project extensively while on the road for the band’s world tour in support of 2015’s “The Book Of Souls”, which has covered 39 countries and 117 shows since February 2016. The rocker filled seven A4 notebooks by writing his story in longhand, in addition to his duties as a performer and as the pilot of Iron Maiden’s new 747 jumbo jet Ed Force One as he flew band, crew and 22 tons of equipment around the globe.
The group’s 2017 tour recently wrapped up with two dates at New York’s Barclays Center.
Since their formation in 1975, Iron Maiden have sold over 90 million albums and played more than 2000 shows in 63 countries.
Stone Temple Pilots will release multiple 25th anniversary deluxe editions of their 1992 debut album, “Core”, on September 29 via Rhino Records.
The San Diego, CA band – guitarist Dean DeLeo, bassist Robert DeLeo, drummer Eric Kretz and vocalist Scott Weiland - debuted with “Core” in the fall of 1992 and by the following summer were one of the biggest rock acts on the scene, powered by exhilarating live shows and a string of now-classic songs from the album, remastered here for the very first time.
The 4CD Super Deluxe Edition features a newly-remastered version of the original record, plus more than two hours of unreleased demos and live performances, including the band’s performance on “MTV Unplugged.” The package also delivers the original album on vinyl and a DVD that contains a 5.1 Surround Sound Mix along with videos for the album’s four singles: “Sex Type Thing”, “Plush”, “Wicked Garden” and “Creep.”
Limited to 15,000 copies worldwide, the 4CD set is packaged in a richly detailed 12x12 hardcover book with rare and unseen photographs from the era.
A full track listing can be found below.
Fans can pre-order a limited edition bundle of the “Core: Super Deluxe Edition” at stonetemplepilots.com which includes a bonus replica 7” vinyl single of “Plush” that was originally released in the UK in 1993; the exclusive bundle is limited to 1,000 copies.
A 2CD Deluxe Version contains a newly-remastered version of the original album expanded with rare b-sides and previously unreleased demos.
A single disc remaster of the original album will be available, as well.
“Core” peaked at No. 3 on the US Billboard 200 on its way to sales of more than 8 million copies Stateside and a 1994 Grammy Award for “Best Hard Rock Performance” for their Top 20 hit, “Plush.”

A hologram of the late Ronnie James Dio will be featured in an upcoming world concert tour billed as “Dio Returns.”
The hologram – created by Eyellusion with the full support of Dio’s widow and manager, Wendy – will be seen delivering the singer’s actual live vocal recordings mixed with music performed by Dio Disciples, a group of former collaborators including guitarist Craig Goldy, drummer Simon Wright and keyboardist Scott Warren; the band is rounded out by bassist Bjorn Englen and vocalist Tim "Ripper" Owens, with Oni Logan to appear on select dates.
The Dio hologram will perform for the majority of the show, delivering an alternating set list that will feature songs such as “Rainbow In The Dark”, “We Rock”, “Neon Nights”, “King Of Rock & Roll”, “Man On The Silver Mountain”, “Heaven & Hell”, “Holy Diver” and more.
Following its debut at last year's Wacken Open Air festival in Germany, the hologram of the late rocker saw its US debut at the 28th annual Pollstar Awards in Los Angeles, CA on February 2.
The “Dio Returns” production will play more than 80 shows around the globe, with the first series of dates set to begin this fall in Europe, kicking off in Helsinki, Finland on November 30 and a US tour planned for spring 2018.
“Working with Eyellusion over the past year and a half to turn our dream of this tour into a reality has been absolutely incredible,” says Wendy Dio. “No one has ever been able to put together a show and tour like this and we like to think of Ronnie smiling down as we continue to find new ways to share his music with all generations of fans. We cannot wait to be able to finally bring this incredible experience to Ronnie’s fans around the world.”

Sixx:AM and former Motley Crue bassist Nikki Sixx is recovering from shoulder surgery on July 25.
The rocker previewed the event with a social media post, writing, “Last hour of playing guitar before going into surgery tomorrow to repair my rotator cuff from breaking guitars. IRONIC?”
Sixx updated fans late Tuesday evening with a pair of post-op photos, adding, “Rotator and torn bicep fixed. Doctor did a great job.”
The project will mark the first release under the media brand’s new 12 X 12 imprint that will deliver a line of music-themed art books and graphic novels exploring the songs and experiences of musical artists.
Chronicling a year of decadence and depravity that almost cost Sixx his life during the recording and tour for Motley Crue’s 1987 album, “Girls, Girls, Girls”, the memoir became a worldwide bestseller.
The rocker will soon announce details regarding 10th anniversary editions of “The Heroin Diaries” book, Sixx:A.M.’s soundtrack by the same name, and a companion play version of the project.
