Cream announce Goodbye Tour Live 1968 box set

Cream will release “Goodbye Tour Live 1968”, a 4-disc box set of material from the group’s farewell tour, on February 7.

The package brings together 36 tracks, including 29 making their first appearance on CD, recorded during Cream’s farewell tour of the U.S. in October 1968 and their final UK date at London’s Royal Albert Hall on November 26 of that same year.

There are a total of 19 previously unreleased tracks, and a further 10 tracks from the Royal Albert Hall show, which have only ever been available on DVD.

On its original release in February 1969, “Goodbye” – which combined live performances from their last tour dates with a handful of studio recordings – topped the UK charts while reaching No. 2 on the US Billboard 200.

This new expanded edition comprises three US concerts – at the Oakland Coliseum, Los Angeles Forum and San Diego Sports Arena – alongside London’s Royal Albert Hall.

“Cream was a shambling circus of diverse personalities who happened to find that catalyst together….. any one of us could have played unaccompanied for a good length of time,” explains Eric Clapton. “So you put the three of us together in front of an audience willing to dig it limitlessly, we could have gone on forever…. And we did….just going for the moon every time we played.”

“Goodbye Tour Live 1968” is bring previewed with a stream of previously-unreleased live audio of “Sunshine Of Your Love” from the Oakland concert date.

The box set will arrive shortly before Clapton hosts a tribute concert in honor of drummer Ginger Baker, who passed away in October at the age of 80; the February 17 event will be held at the Eventim Apollo Hammersmith in London.

Cream bassist Jack Bruce died of liver disease in 2014 at the age of 71.

Clutch release cover of CCR classic Fortunate Son

Clutch are streaming a video of a cover of the Creedence Clearwater Revival classic, “Fortunate Son”, in sync with the release of the latest single in their ongoing Weathermaker Vault Series.

“Growing up it was hard not to hear CCR’s Fortunate Son on the radio, on TV or even at the county fair,” says drummer Jean-Paul Gaster. “The groovy backbeat and sloshy hi-hats that introduce John Fogerty’s timeless lyrics written so many years ago could be found everywhere.

“While it may be true to say that Fortunate Son could be seen as a political song, we think it’s bigger than that. For us, Fortunate Son is an inspirational song. For that reason we’d like to dedicate the song to the most inspirational person we’ve ever had in our lives, our late manager Jack Flanagan. Jack Flanagan was no Fortunate son. He worked tirelessly and passionately all the while keeping a razor-sharp sense of humor until his last days. Thank you, Jack, for making us better than we ever thought we could be.”

In the video that accompanies this release, guitarist Tim Sult pays homage to Jack Flanagan by playing Jack’s beloved 90’s Les Paul.

The video was shot at J Robbins’ Magpie Cage Recording Studio in Baltimore, MD. J Robbins produced the Clutch albums “Robot Hive/Exodus” (2005) and “Strange Cousins From The West” (2009), and he recorded all of the Weathermaker Vault Series singles.

Previous releases in the Maryland band’s singles collection include covers of Willie Dixon’s “Evil” and ZZ Top’s “Precious And Grace”, and a reworked version of their own 2007 classic, “Electric Worry.”

Clutch resume their 2019 tour with shows across Europe starting in Wiesbaden, Germany on December 2; the group’s latest studio album is 2018’s “Book Of Bad Decisions.”

Pink Floyd stream Sorrow live video from Delicate Sound Of Thunder 2019 remix

Pink Floyd are streaming live video of their 1987 track, “Sorrow”, from the forthcoming 2019 remix of their 1988 album, “Delicate Sound Of Thunder.”

The project captures the band during a sold-out, five-night stand as part of the “A Momentary Lapse Of Reason” world tour at the Nassau Coliseum on Long Island, NY, where they played before more than 71,000 fans while earning almost 1.8 million at the box office.

The 2019 remix is featured as part of the December 13 release of a new box set entitled “The Later Years 1987-2019”, which delivers the work of guitarist David Gilmour, drummer Nick Mason and keyboardist Richard Wright from 1987 onwards, a period that saw the group generate sales of more than 40 million records.

Also presented is an updated version of 1987’s “A Momentary Lapse Of Reason”, a series of 1987 & 1994 live recordings and unreleased studio recordings, and full versions of the group’s 1989 Venice Concert and 1990 appearance at Knebworth.

Among the DVD/Blu-ray material in the package is a restored and re-edited edition of the 1995 live set “Pulse”, and a number of various unreleased live films, music videos and screen films.

“Pink Floyd: The Later Years 1987-2019” will also be available in a 2LP / 1CD ‘Highlights’ package that comes in a gatefold sleeve (for both CD and 2LP), while each will contain a 24-page booklet containing previously unseen and rare photos.

Motley Crue singer Vince Neil undergoes hand surgery

Motley Crue singer Vince Neil underwent hand surgery in Nashville, TN on November 27.

The rocker shared a photo from hospital on Instagram, alongside a caption that reads: "Hand Surgery Today!! #vikingdisease #Dupuytrenscontracture #nashville"

The hashtags reference a health issue called Dupuytren's contracture which, according to WebMD is a condition that gradually causes connective tissue under the skin of your palm to thicken and become scar-like while restricting movement by curling a finger, or fingers, towards your palm.

Neil is displaying a curled pinky finger on his right hand in the photo from the Nashville hospital.

Motley Crue recently announced plans to return to the concert stage, just five years after signing an agreement that they would no longer perform together following the end of their official farewell tour in 2015.

In 2014, the group signed a formal Cessation Of Touring Agreement that could not be undone unless all band members agreed to do so; industry sources are indicating the band will headline a to-be-announced 2020 US stadium tour with Def Leppard and Poison.

Eric Clapton announces Ginger Baker tribute concert

Eric Clapton has announced a one-time only concert to celebrate the musical life of his friend and Cream bandmate Ginger Baker, who passed away last month at the age of 80.

“Eric Clapton & Friends: A Tribute to Ginger Baker” will take place Monday, February 17, 2020 at the Eventim Apollo Hammersmith in London.

According to a press release, the set list for the concert “will look to honor Baker’s lifetime in music and will, of course, include Clapton and Baker’s work together in Cream and Blind Faith.”

Forthcoming announcements will detail the artist line-up for the event, which will benefit Leonard Cheshire, a charity close to the Baker family that supports people living with disabilities; learn more at leonardcheshire.org.

Tickets for the tribute concert will go on sale on Friday, November 29 at 10:00am via the usual outlets.

Prior to his passing, Baker had faced a number of health issues in recent years, including degenerative osteoarthritis and chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD).

Baker and Clapton teamed up with bassist/vocalist Jack Bruce in London in 1966 to form one of the first high-profile power trios in rock; Cream would release four records by the time they split in 1968 while going on to sell 15 million albums worldwide.

Pink Floyd launch new podcast series

Pink Floyd are streaming the first episode in a limited-edition podcast series in support of their forthcoming box set, “The Later Years 1987-2019.”

Entitled “The Lost Art Of Conversation”, the four-part weekly program sees guitarist David Gilmour sit down with BBC Radio's Matt Everett to explore the legendary UK band’s history in the years following the departure of Roger Waters, who left the outfit in 1985.

The group’s first studio project without the bassist was 1987’s “A Momentary Lapse Of Reason.”

“It’s quite a big thing to carry on Pink Floyd with Roger Waters having gone,” recalls Gilmour. “He is a big, big part of it obviously, a major talent and our primary lyricist, so it was difficult.

“I was so glad to have Rick Wright there with his ideas and playing the way he did. And Nick Mason is the perfect drummer for Pink Floyd. It all felt so right on those sessions.

“I remember sitting at the piano coming up with the music,”
he adds, “knowing we were on to a killer.”

Recording the set in a series of London studios was not without its distractions, as Waters and the remaining members fought over legal control of the Pink Floyd name.

“We were in the middle of a major lawsuit,” Gilmour explains, “and between every little bit I was doing, I was on the phone to lawyers; that stuff was just eating away at me, us and our time.”

Gilmour and Mason eventually won the legal battle, and went on to tour behind their thirteenth studio album with a multi-year run that included almost 200 shows and earned $135 million at the box office.

Due December 13, “The Later Years 1987-2019” includes an updated version of “A Momentary Lapse Of Reason”, an expanded edition of 1998’s live album, “Delicate Sound Of Thunder”, a series of 1987 & 1994 live recordings and unreleased studio material, and full versions of the group’s 1989 Venice Concert and 1990 appearance at Knebworth.

Among the DVD/Blu-ray material in the package is a restored and remixed concert film for “Delicate Sound Of Thunder”, a restored and re-edited edition of the 1995 live set “Pulse”, and a number of various unreleased live films, music videos and screen films.

Robert Plant revisits the title track to his 2017 album, “Carry Fire”, on the latest episode of the rocker’s podcast series Digging Deep.

Plant will conclude season two of Digging Deep with the release of a very special limited-edition seven-inch singles box set of the same name on December 13.

The package will include 16 A-sides and rare B-sides as featured in the first two seasons of the online series, with material spanning three decades of Plant’s extensive solo career.

Queen wins American Music Award for Bohemian Rhapsody soundtrack

Queen’s soundtrack to their 2018 biopic, “Bohemian Rhapsody”, was honored with an American Music Award during the November 24 ceremony in Los Angeles.

The project was named “Favorite Soundtrack” by music fans ahead of “A Star is Born” by Lady Gaga and Bradley Cooper, and “Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse.”

“Thanks to all that voted,” posted Queen online, adding, “Many congratulations to all of the team involved.”

Directed by Dexter Fletcher, the film – which follows Queen from their formation in 1970 through to their legendary 1985 Live Aid appearance – won four Academy Awards in February, including Best Actor to Rami Malek for his portrayal of Freddie Mercury, and technical production honors in the fields of Sound Editing, Sound Mixing and Film Editing.

The project inspired Queen’s 2019/2020 Rhapsody tour,

which opened in Vancouver, BC on July 10; the group will bring their all-new live production to South Korea, Japan, Australia and New Zealand in early 2020.

VIDEO: Ozzy Osbourne performs on American Music Awards with Post Malone

Ozzy Osbourne joined rappers Post Malone and Travis Scott, and guitarist Andrew Watt, for their collaboration, “Take What You Want”, during the 2019 American Music Awards in Los Angeles on November 24.

The appearance came three days after Osbourne performed the track with Malone at The Forum, which also marked the rocker’s live return in almost a year as he continues to recover from a series of health issues.

The single from Malone’s recently-released album, “Hollywood’s Bleeding”, debuted at No. 8 on the US Billboard Hot 100 to deliver Osbourne his first US Top 10 appearance in more than three decades.

Singing on “Take What You Want” via producer Watt led to Osbourne working with the guitarist on a new album, “Ordinary Man”, which features guest appearances by Guns N’ Roses bassist Duff McKagan and Red Hot Chili Peppers drummer Chad Smith; the project is due in January.

Ozzy is previewing the record with the lead single, “Under The Graveyard”, and its follow-up, “Straight To Hell”, which features Slash on guitar.

U2 stream new single Ahimsa

U2 have released a new single, “Ahimsa” – a collaboration with legendary Indian composer A.R. Rahman – ahead of their first ever performance in India on December 15 as part of their Joshua Tree tour.

The Sanskrit word for non-violence, “Ahimsa” celebrates the spiritual diversity of India and connects the spirit of U2 with Rahman.

“Ahimsa requires courage and strength,” explains Rahman. "A quality that is impervious to weapons or power. It's a mission which is most needed to heal the modern world and it is incredible timing to collaborate with U2, with their amazing legacy, to revive this movement.”

Working with A.R, says The Edge, had been "an absolute joy”.

"A superstar and a talent both towering and generous, we are especially excited to visit his homeland in just a few weeks,” continues the guitarist. “India has been on our bucket list for a very long time, the principles of ahimsa or non-violence have served as an important pillar of what our band stands for since we first came together to play music. We can't wait to experience the culture of India first hand, a place that brings together the modern and the ancient all at once.”

The fight against injustice has always been so important to us, adds Bono.

"We were somewhat shaped and formed by Martin Luther King, who was a student of Mahatma Gandhi,” adds the singer. “Martin Luther King said 'The moral arc of the universe is long but it bends towards justice….' I don't believe that anymore… It doesn't bend towards justice, it has to be bent towards justice. We have to be actively involved in our democracy to preserve it and show people how we feel and what we care about.

"We come as students to the source of inspiration. That is Ahimsa… non-violence. India gave this to us… the greatest gift to the world. It is more powerful than nuclear energy, the armies, the navy's, the British Empire. It is power itself. And it's never been more important.”

Ahead of next month’s show in Mumbai – which will mark U2’s final live event of 2019 – they will wrap up a series of dates in Australia and New Zealand with a November 27 concert in Perth before heading to Singapore, Japan, South Korea and their first-ever appearance in the Philippines.

Guns N’ Roses: Not In This Lifetime Tour tops $580 million

Guns N’ Roses’ Not In This Lifetime tour has topped the $580 million mark following its conclusion with a pair of shows in las Vegas, NV earlier this month.

According to Billboard, the four-year reunion series featuring Axl Rose, Slash and Duff McKagan earned $584.2 million from 5,371,891 tickets sold to 158 concert appearances around the globe.

Following its launch in April 2016, the tour was primarily rooted in North America, with 87 of 158 shows (55%) taking place in the US, Canada, and Mexico; but there were also multiple visits to Europe (31 shows), Asia (16) and South America (15), plus eight dates in Australia and one in Johannesburg, South Africa.

With more time in North America, Guns N’ Roses was able to play a more even mix of stadiums and arenas, as opposed to quicker runs of only stadiums internationally; their home-continent touring amounted to $258.5 million and 2.3 million tickets sold, still far ahead of Europe’s $166.1 million.

The final numbers place the Not In This Lifetime trek as the No. 3 highest-grossing tour in the history of the Billboard Boxscore chart.

Guns N’ Roses will now regroup to begin recording new music for a future release.

"When we finish the tour in the fall," Slash told Detroit's 101 WRIF earlier this year, “then we will commence working on [what] will end up being the next Guns record.”

The project will mark the group’s first studio album since 2008’s “Chinese Democracy.”

Pink Floyd stream Sorrow 2019 remix from The Later Years box set

Pink Floyd are streaming a new 2019 mix of their 1987 track, “Sorrow”, as the latest preview to the December 13 release of a new box set entitled “The Later Years 1987-2019.”

Originally produced by Bob Ezrin and David Gilmour for the band’s thirteenth studio album, “A Momentary Lapse Of Reason”, the remix was put together by Gilmour and Andy Jackson with assistance by Damon Iddins.

Reaching No. 3 on both the US and UK charts, the project was the first Pink Floyd album recorded without founding member Roger Waters, who left the outfit in 1985.

Serving as a companion to 2016's “The Early Years 1965–1972”, the new 5-CD/6-Blu-ray/5-DVD package includes an updated version of 1987’s “A Momentary Lapse Of Reason”, an expanded edition of 1998’s live album, “Delicate Sound Of Thunder”, a series of 1987 & 1994 live recordings & unreleased studio recordings, and full versions of the group’s 1989 Venice Concert and 1990 appearance at Knebworth.

Among the DVD/Blu-ray material in the package is a restored and remixed concert film for “Delicate Sound Of Thunder”, a restored and re-edited edition of the 1995 live set “Pulse”, and a number of various unreleased live films, music videos and screen films.

The Who stream new single I Don’t Wanna Get Wise

The Who are streaming the track, “I Don’t Wanna Get Wise”, as the latest preview to their forthcoming album, “Who.”

“I’ve been asked what I think Keith Moon and John Entwistle would have thought of this song,” says guitarist Pete Townshend. “I imagine they would have needed to be alive to hear it so presumably they would – like me – have gotten old enough to suffer from being wise in old age.

“I think we three would have gathered around the fireside with our various eccentric outfits (Keith by this time dressing as the Pope) and wondered what Roger thought about it."

“I Don’t Wanna Get Wise” follows the set’s lead single, “Ball And Chain”, and “All This Music Must Fade” as the third preview to The Who’s first new album in thirteen years, ahead of its release on December 6.

The Who were honored this week as the first inductees into the new Music Walk Of Fame in London, UK; the attraction plans to recognize 20 artists per year moving forward.

Ozzy Osbourne joined Post Malone for their collaboration, “Take What You Want”, during a November 21 show at The Forum in Los Angeles.

The appearance marked Osbourne’s first performance in almost a year, as he spent most of 2019 recovering from a series of health issues that included surgery after the rocker fell at home.

Malone issued “Take What You Want” – featuring Osbourne and Travis Scott – in September as a single from his new album “Hollywood’s Bleeding”, which debuted atop the US Billboard 200.

Osbourne, Malone and Scott will team up to perform the track this weekend at the 2019 American Music Awards, which will air live from the Microsoft Theater in Los Angeles on November 24 at 8 p.m. ET on ABC.

Ozzy has just released “Straight To Hell” – featuring Slash on guitar – as the new single from his forthcoming album, “Ordinary Man.”

Ozzy Osbourne streams new single Straight To Hell featuring Slash

Ozzy Osbourne is streaming audio of his new single, “Straight To Hell” - featuring Slash of Guns N’ Roses on guitar – as the latest preview to his forthcoming album, "Ordinary Man."

Due early next year, the project was recorded in Los Angeles by producer andguitarist Andrew Watt and includes appearances by Guns N’ Roses bassist Duff McKagan and Red Hot Chili Peppers drummer Chad Smith.

“Straight To Hell” follows “Under The Graveyard” as the second taste of Osbourne’s first new solo studio record in almost a decade, which he worked on while recovering from a series of health issues that made for a tough year on the 70-year-old rocker.

"This album was a gift from my higher power - it is proof to me that you should never give up," says Ozzy, “And this is quite possibly the most important album I have done in a very long time, probably since 'No More Tears.'"

On November 29, the singer will release a solo career-spanning, limited edition vinyl box set entitled “See You On The Other Side.”

VIDEO: Sammy Hagar performs acoustic set of classics at Grammy Museum

Sammy Hagar delivered an acoustic set of classic tracks during a special “Evening With” event at the Grammy Museum in Los Angeles, CA on November 19.

Following an interview with moderator Scott Goldman, the Red Rocker was joined by guitarist Vic Johnson for a six-song performance of fan favorites like Montrose’s ”Rock Candy”, Van Halen’s “Right Now” and “Finish What Ya Started”, and solo cuts “Little White Lies”, “Eagles Fly”, and the tune “No Worries”, from his 2019 album with The Circle, “Space Between.”

Launched with the lead single, “Trust Fund Baby”, the record debuted at No. 4 on the Billboard 200 this past spring.

The rare intimate event saw Hagar share his plans for 2020.

"I'm going to do a 40-city tour," Hagar told Goldman. "I haven't done this in a long time. This year, we made a record and I was told, 'You've got to go out and support it.' I don't like to go away and tour, but I love to play shows. The way we do it with The Circle, we play a couple shows a month, but I'm going to do 40 cities – a real tour – next year. I'm doubling from what I did this year.

“I decided that I've got to do this while I still can. There's going to be a day I wake up and go, 'I can't do this no more,' not because I don't want to in my heart, but because my knees, my back, my voice, something's going to say, 'Nope.' It's inevitable for everyone, so I'm going to go ahead and dig in.”

The singer recently hosted his annual birthday bash series at his club in Cabo San Lucas, Mexico in honor of his 72nd birthday.

Ozzy Osbourne is streaming a preview of his new single, “Straight To Hell”, before its official release on November 22.

The tune follows “Under The Graveyard” as the second song issued from the rocker’s forthcoming album, “Ordinary Man”; due in January, the set was produced by guitarist Andrew Watt and includes guest appearances by Guns N’ Roses bassist Duff McKagan and Red Hot Chili Peppers drummer Chad Smith.

"Duff and Chad came in and we would go in and jam during the day and I would go work out the songs in the evenings,” explains Ozzy. “I previously had said to Sharon I should be doing an album, but in the back of my mind I was going 'I haven't got the f***ing strength...' but Andrew pulled it out of me.

"I really hope people listen to it and enjoy it, because I put my heart and soul into this album."

“Ordinary Man” marks Osbourne’s first new studio album since 2010’s “Scream.”

Chris Cornell has received a posthumous nomination for the 2020 Grammy Awards.

The team that put together the late Soundgarden rocker’s self-tilted 2018 compilation has been recognized in the Best Recording Package category, highlighting the work of Barry Ament, Jeff Ament, Jeff Fura and Joe Spix; the project presents material from Cornell’s extensive career as a solo artist and work with Soundgarden, Temple Of The Dog and Audioslave.

The set will compete for honors alongside packages delivering the music of Voces Del Bullerengue (Anonimas & Resilientes”), The Muddy Basin Ramblers (“Hold That Tiger”), Bon Iver (“I, I”) and Intellexual (“Intellexual”).

“Thank you to The Recording Academy for honoring the life and legacy of Chris Cornell - he would be so proud!,” says Vicky Cornell. “Thank you to those who’s love helped make this such a special record and package. Special thanks to Jeff Ament and Ume - our children and I are so grateful to you for your passion and dedication. Huge thank you to all his fans - this was made for you!”

The 62nd Annual Grammy Awards will be broadcast live on the CBS Network from the Staples Center in Los Angeles on Sunday, January 26, 2020.

Noel Gallagher debuts Wandering Star video

Noel Gallagher’s High Flying Birds are debuting a video for “Wandering Star”, the lead single from their forthcoming EP, “Blue Moon Rising.”

“This isn’t an anti-Christmas video, quite the opposite,” explains director Dan Cadan. “We wanted to highlight the plight that can affect people, especially around Christmas. The pressures from commercial bombardment and a consumerist society, for a single-parent who will stop at nothing to ensure their kids feel the magic that so many take for granted.

“Stevie G is my muse and this is our third collaboration, my second with his incredibly talented wife Hannah Walters and they brought more to this than we could have dreamed – which is part of the package when working with these two actors. Their performances bring further to life Noel’s brilliant music and lyrics and we hope this fills you with Christmas cheer, and strikes chord enough for you to raise a glass to those less fortunate but equally as deserving.”

Due May 6, 2020, “Blue Moon Rising” will also include “Come On Outside” and three mixes of the title track.

Noel Gallagher’s High Flying Birds are currently on tour with U2 in Australasia with dates across Australia and New Zealand; the band will also play a date in Bangkok, Thailand before the end of the year.
