Liam Gallagher releases new single All You’re Dreaming Of

Liam Gallagher is streaming a lyric video for his new single, “All You’re Dreaming Of.”

The former Oasis singer describes the tune as “a timeless track and perfect for this time of year. Considering the year that we've all had, I hope this brings back some much needed love and hope. Bing Crosby would have been proud. Merry Christmas.”

All proceeds from the track will go to the UK charity Action For Children, which works to improve life for children in the region.

Earlier this year, Gallagher’s “MTV Unplugged” release debuted atop the UK album charts; recorded and filmed last year, the project followed on the heels of his 2019 album, “Why Me? Why Not.”

Heart biopic in the works

Heart singer Ann Wilson has revealed that a biopic about the Seattle band is in the works.

The project will be written and directed by Sleater-Kinney guitarist Carrie Brownstein.

“I can't tell you all about it, because it's still being written right now,” Wilson tells SiriusXM show "Volume West" host Lyndsey Parker. “I saw the first draft of [Brownstein’s] script, and it's really cool,” revealing that the movie, which is “definitely coming along” but is “still in development right now because COVID slowed everything down,” will begin with the Wilsons’ childhood and end in the ‘90s.

The rocker further explains that casting for the lead roles of the Wilson sisters is already underway.

“A few actresses have come forward, but no one that's right,” Ann adds. “Anne Hathaway came forward, but I don't think she's exactly right for it. I just don't have any idea. I'm too close to it. … But it's known that the role of Nancy and the role of me is being cast. I'm just as excited about finding out as you are.”

With sales of more than 35 million albums worldwide, Heart were inducted into the Rock And Roll Hall Of Fame in 2013.

Ann recently released a cover of the 2004 Steve Earle track, “The Revolution Starts Now”, as a new single, while guitarist Nancy Wilson issued a cover of Bruce Springsteen’s “The Rising” as the lead single from her forthcoming debut solo album, “The Lab”, which is expected in 2021.

Journey guitarist Neal Schon to release new solo album

Journey guitarist Neal Schon has announced plans to release a new solo album entitled “Universe.”

“Coming early December” shared the rocker on social media alongside the cover art for the project, adding: “There are some interesting covers on here as well as originals written and produced by Narada Michael Walden Jimi /Prince / John McLaughlin / Stevie Wonder / Beatles / and Journey. There’s some very healing music for this Christmas.”

With more details expected soon, “Universe” will mark Schon’s first solo effort since 2015’s “Vortex.”

The record isn’t the only new music Schon has been working on lately; he recently confirmed that the members of Journey were recording material that he expects fans will hear in 2021.

“We have 13 new tracks in the can that Arnel [Pineda] is now singing on, but the band is on fire,” the guitarist told Eddie Trunk in October. “I'm excited about this record and I believe we'll start releasing things after the New Year….I thought we were going to release the single a lot earlier, and then this (pandemic) all came down and they wanted to push it back a bit, and it makes sense. So we're gonna release a single, another single, a few months after that another single, and hopefully by then near the end of '21 we'll be back on tour when everything gets up and running again.

“But yeah, I think the band is on fire, man. It's been really pretty much either Jonathan [Cain] working in his studio, sending us a track, and then we're overdubbing on it, or it's Narada and I playing live together, which is working quite well — just drums and guitar. And then we send it to Randy [Jackson] and to Jon, and then have Arnel on it. So, it's coming together, man. For being a virtual record, it sounds amazing."

Journey’s most recent studio album is 2011’s “Eclipse.”

Iron Maiden score UK top 10 debut with Legacy Of The Beast live album

Iron Maiden have scored a UK top 10 debut with their latest release, “Nights Of The Dead, Legacy Of The Beast: Live In Mexico City.”

According to the Official Charts, the project enters the UK Top 100 album chart at No. 7.

The band were recorded during three sold-out arena shows in Mexico City in September 2019 on the multi-year Legacy Of The Beast world tour, which is scheduled to finish next summer in Europe after plans changed due to the global health crisis.

“When the final leg of our 2020 Legacy tour this summer had to be cancelled due to the COVID pandemic, the whole band was very disappointed and deflated and we know our fans felt the same,” says bassist Steve Harris. “We’d been really looking forward to bringing the show to even more countries and although we’ve been able to reschedule most of our European own-shows for 2021, we thought we’d take a listen to the recordings from the tour so far and see if we could create a definitive live album souvenir that everyone, everywhere could enjoy.

“I’m very pleased with the results, especially as this set list includes songs which have never made it to a live CD before, such as ‘For The Greater Good Of God’, and other older songs like ‘Where Eagles Dare’, ‘Flight Of Icarus’, ‘The Clansman’ and ‘Sign Of The Cross’ which haven’t been included in our live set releases for many years.

“We’ve never released a live album from Mexico before,”
adds Harris, “and I think this recording does justice to the passion and joy of our Mexican fans who always give us such a fantastic welcome whenever we play there.”

“Nights Of The Dead, Legacy Of The Beast: Live In Mexico City” is available in multiple formats, including Digipack 2CD, Deluxe hardcase book 2CD, Triple black heavyweight vinyl, limited-edition heavyweight 180g Mexican Flag triple coloured vinyl and via Digital streaming and download.

Eddie Van Halen featured on unearthed Jimi Hendrix cover

Eddie Van Halen is featured on a newly-unearthed extended cover of the Jimi Hendrix classic, “If 6 Was 9.”

According to Guitar World, keyboardist David Garfield recruited Van Halen for the 1996 recording alongside singer and guitarist Michael Landau, bassist Will Lee and drummer Simon Phillips for his “Tribute To Jeff Porcaro” album.

Garfield is now sharing an extended version of the Hendrix track as part of his new EP, “Guitar Heroes OTB - Vol. 1.”

While the main session was recorded in Chick Corea’s Mad Hatter Studios in Los Angeles, the keyboardist worked with Eddie on his overdubs at his own 5150 Studios.

“I went up to his house to work on the tracks with him, and he was so cool,” says Garfield. “We bonded as keyboard players, too. After that session, we played a live gig together at the Baked Potato, along with Steve Lukather and Michael Landau. We continued to stay in touch, and often he would call me out of the blue, asking for help with keyboard related stuff. I even found a guy to travel with him on tour and play additional parts offstage, as well as be his keyboard tech.

“I'm sure sorry we lost him way too soon,”
he adds. “I was hoping to collaborate with him again. Rest in peace, my brother Ed."

Eddie passed away on October 6 at the age of 65 after a lengthy battle with cancer.

Original Neil Peart Rush drum set up for auction

The original drum set used by Neil Peart during his early years with Rush is now available for purchase via an online auction by Bonhams in Los Angeles.

Offered as part of a Music Memoribalia event that runs from November 23 to December 9, Peart used the Slingerland drum kit with Rush between 1974-77. The package features a pair of bass drums with chrome wrap including the original head; blue resonant heads each with large silver Rush logo and "Neil" on one and "Peart" on the other (originals and additional replicas), and includes a 14-inch Tom Tom with chrome wrap and with original head signed by Peart.

According to Bonhams, the drummer purchased the set in late July/early August 1974 from Long & McQuade in Toronto, ON and used it for three years before placing it in storage in 1977; the package later became one of three drum kit's donated by Peart for Modern Drummer Magazine's "Neil Peart Drumset Giveaway" introduced in their March 1987 issue.

This set was awarded to New York drummer Mark Feldman in the October 1987 issue and comes with a letter signed by Peart informing Feldman that he was a contest winner and commenting on his submission; it was eventually sold by Feldman to the present owner.

Available with a starting bid of $80,000, the Peart package is among the highlights of the Music Memorabilia auction; other items of note include a set of Grateful Dead handwritten lyrics by Mickey Hart to “Fire On The Mountain”, Jim Morrison's driver's license, a Chinese couch formerly owned by John Lennon and Yoko Ono, sold by Yoko in 1984, plus an array of concert posters, guitars, and signed material.

View Peart’s drum set and other items at bonhams.com.

Peart passed away on January 7 at the age of 67 after a three-and-a-half year battle with an aggressive form of brain cancer, Glioblastoma, following the Canadian band’s final concert in Los Angeles in 2015.

Fleetwood Mac: All-star Peter Green tribute concert coming to cinemas

An early 2020 all-star concert tribute to Fleetwood Mac founder Peter Green is coming to cinemas next spring.

Organized by Mick Fleetwood, the February 25 event at London’s Palladium in support of Teenage Cancer Trust saw the drummer salute his former bandmate and the original era of the group with the help of a lineup that included Christine McVie, David Gilmour, Pete Townshend, Kirk Hammett, Billy Gibbons, Steven Tyler, Bill Wyman, John Mayll, Zak Starkey, Noel Gallagher and original Fleetwood Mac guitarist Jeremy Spencer, among others.

“The concert was a celebration of those early blues days where we all began,” says Fleetwood, “and it’s important to recognize the profound impact Peter and the early Fleetwood Mac had on the world of music. Peter was my greatest mentor and it gave me such joy to pay tribute to his incredible talent.

“I was honoured to be sharing the stage with some of the many artists Peter has inspired over the years and who share my great respect for this remarkable musician. ‘Then Play On’...”

The tribute event took place just five months before Green passed away in his sleep on July 25 at the age of 73.

Green was a member of John Mayall’s Bluesbreakers before forming Fleetwood Mac with Fleetwood, Spencer and bassist Bob Brunning in London in 1967; the band issued their self-titled debut album and a second record, “Mr. Wonderful”, in 1968, and a third, “Then Play On”, in 1969 before Green exited the lineup in the spring of 1970.

The guitarist wrote a number of classic tracks and hits for the group during the early years, including “Black Magic Woman”, “Man Of The World”, “Oh Well” and "The Green Manalishi (With the Two Prong Crown)."

The Mick Fleetwood And Friends tribute concert will be screened in cinemas worldwide on March 23 and March 28, 2021, before it sees its release across multiple formats on April 30, 2021.

For screening details and more, visit mickfleetwoodandfriends.com.

ZZ Top documentary earns Grammy Award nomination

The ZZ Top documentary, “That Little Ol’ Band From Texas”, has earned the band a nomination for a 2021 Grammy Award.

The career overview will compete in the Best Music Film category alongside projects on the Beastie Boys (“Beastie Boys Story), Beyonce (“Black Is King), Freestyle Love Supreme (“We Are Freestyle Love Supreme”) and Linda Ronstadt (“Linda Ronstadt: The Sound of My Voice”).

Produced by Banger Films, the documentary tells the story of how three teenage bluesmen - Billy Gibbons, Dusty Hill and Frank Beard – became one of the biggest bands on the planet, all while maintaining a surrealist mystique that continues to intrigue fans and entice onlookers 50 years after the band’s inception.

“That Little Ol’ Band From Texas” presents interviews with the band members alongside conversations with such high-profile fans as Billy Bob Thornton and Queens Of the Stone Age’s Josh Homme, as well as never-before-seen archival footage.

Shot exclusively for this film, an intimate ZZ Top performance at the historic Gruene Hall – the oldest dance hall in Texas – is intercut throughout the documentary, which also features the Ham Estate Archive, which spotlights rare pre-Eliminator ZZ Top concert footage from 1976 and 1981.

The 2021 recognition marks the third Grammy nomination for the group, following a pair in the Best Rock Performance By A Duo Or Group With Vocal category in 1983 (“Elimator”) and 1986 (“Afterburner”).

Hosted by Trevor Noah, the 63nd Annual Grammy Awards will be broadcast live on CBS on Sunday, January 31, 2021 at 8 p.m. ET / 5 p.m. PT.

Queen greatest hits package enters US Top 10 four decades after release

Queen’s 1981 “Greatest Hits” package has entered the US Top 10 for the first time since its release four decades ago.

The compilation jumped from No. 36 to No. 8 on the Billboard 200 after 412 weeks on the chart, beating its previous high of No. 11 in 1992; the set also hit No. 1 on Billboard’s Vinyl Albums Chart with the second-largest sales week of 2020 for any vinyl release.

According to Billboard, “Greatest Hits” sold 36,000 equivalent album units in the past week – including 23,000 on vinyl – with the surge credited to a massive vinyl sale on November 14 at Walmart, where all vinyl albums in-store were marked down to $15.

The package presents classic songs from Queen’s catalog, including “Bohemian Rhapsody”, “We Are The Champions”, “Another One Bites The Dust”, “Crazy Little Thing Called Love” and “Somebody To Love”, among others.

The US sales feat delivers Queen their ninth top 10 album in the region, while “Greatest Hits” remains the best-selling album of all time in the UK.

Foo Fighters stream 25th anniversary special Times Like Those

The Foo Fighters are streaming a 25th anniversary special entitled “Times Like Those.”

The project sees the band sit down to share highlights and memories of the past quarter century, since the release of their self-titled 1995 album debut.

Due to the pandemic, the group were forced to cancel a scheduled 25th anniversary Van Tour of North America that was set to see them perform in the round while revisiting stops along their 1995 trek.

“Maybe the 25th anniversary year didn't go quite as planned,” says the Foos, “but we were still able to come together for a look back at the last 25 years.”

The band are gearing up for the February 2021 release of their tenth record, “Medicine At Midnight.”

The forthcoming set is being previewed with the recently-released lead single, “Shame Shame.”

According to the Australian Recording Industry Association (ARIA), the project earns the group a place in music history by being the only Australian band to have No. 1 albums at least once over the course of five decades.

Recorded with producer Brendan O’Brien in Vancouver in 2018, “Power Up” takes its place atop the ARIA charts alongside “Back In Black” (#1 March 1981), “Live” (#1 November 1992), “Ballbreaker” (#1 October 1995), “Black Ice” (#1 October 2008) and “Rock Or Bust” (#1 December 2014).

“A very big thank you to Denis, and all at Sony Music Australia, and everyone else in Australia who’ve put in their time, effort and creativity to get PWR/UP to #1!,” says Angus Young. “Also a big shout out to all our fans, old and new. You are, and always have been, our guiding inspiration.”

“Congratulations to AC/DC on topping the ARIA chart for a record-breaking fifth decade in a row,”
adds ARIA CEO Dan Rosen. “In a year of uncertainty, at least we can rely on AC/DC to rock the roof off the place. Legendary barely describes their place in Australian music, and after all these years, we continue to salute AC/DC.”

Introduced with the lead single, “Shot In The Dark”, “Power Up” sees Angus Young joined by three members of the group’s “Back In Black” lineup – singer Brian Johnson, bassist Cliff Williams and drummer Phil Rudd – alongside rhythm guitarist Stevie Young, who stepped in for co-founder Malcolm Young after he retired in 2014 due to dementia before passing away in November of 2017.

AC/DC top UK album charts with Power Up

AC/DC have debuted atop the UK charts with their new album, “Power Up.”

According to The Official Charts Company, the band sold 62,000 units to enter No. 1 on the weekly list while also earning the biggest opening week sales tally of 2020 to date … and the fastest-selling album of the year in the region.

“Power Up” marks AC/DC’s first UK No. 1 in a decade – since they last hit the mark with 2010’s “Iron Man 2” soundtrack.

“A very big thank you to everyone who put in their time, effort and creativity to get PWR/UP to Number 1!,” says Angus Young. “Also a big shoutout to all our fans, old and new. You are, and always have been, our guiding inspiration.”

AC/DC recorded the project in Vancouver with producer Brendan O’Brien in 2018.

As the music sales week in North America nears its completion, “Power Up” will also compete for top spot in the US charts in the coming days.

KISS announce New Year’s Eve livestream concert event

KISS will perform a virtual pay-per-view concert on New Year's Eve from Dubai in the United Arab Emirates.

“KISS 2020 Goodbye” will see the classic rock band end the year with a livestream event on December 31 from the city’s Atlantis Dubai hotel and resort.

Filmed with more than 50 cameras and 360-degree views, fans around the world will be able to access the show, while several thousand hotel attendees will be viewing from their balconies.

"Frankly, I wasn't interested in doing a stream on the level of Live at the Troubadour in L.A.," Paul Stanley tells Rolling Stone. "Not that those aren't good, but they aren't KISS. Either we do this right, or we don't do it. For us, size matters. We don't have to reinvent the wheel; we invented it and it runs real well. We're just making sure it's on a scale and a size that does justice not only to the situation we're in, but that it makes the people watching at home feel like they're a part of it."

"We play big,”
adds Gene Simmons. “There's not a lot of subtlety in what we do. It's like the Fourth of July. You don't want chaos. You can have the biggest, but it won't be the baddest because just random explosions everywhere and 300-foot fireballs going off, you can't tap your foot to that or sing along. You want to have something that has coordination. So everything that we're naturally doing onstage is going to be amplified — 10-to-100-fold bigger, oh my God.”

Full event and ticket details are available at kiss2020goodbye.com.

The Dubai concert is part of the KISS’ ongoing "End Of The Road" farewell tour, which opened in Vancouver, BC in January of 2019.

Steve Perry streams new acoustic version of No Erasin’

Steve Perry is streaming a stripped-down version of “No Erasin’” as the latest preview to the December 4 release of an acoustic edition of his 2018 comeback album, “Traces.”

Billed as “Traces (Alternative Versions and Sketches)”, the project sees the former Journey vocalist remove much of the production elements from the original to showcase the material in its barest form.

“When writing songs, the original inspiration is always my 1st compass where the songs should go,” explains Perry. “Alternate Versions & Sketches is exactly that. I’m excited for you to hear the original seeds of these songs.”

“Traces” marked Perry’s first album in 25 years; the set earned the legendary singer his first US solo top 10 album when it debuted at No. 6 on the Billboard 200.
