Whitesnake share behind the scenes video look at Flesh And Blood album

Whitesnake are streaming a behind the scenes video look at the making of their latest album, “Flesh & Blood.”
Issued this past spring, the band’s thirteenth studio set presents 13 new tracks with David Coverdale joined by a lineup featuring guitarists Reb Beach and Joel Hoekstra, bassist Michael Devin, keyboardist Michele Luppi and drummer Tommy Aldridge.
The project was introduced with the lead single, “Shut Up & Kiss Me”, whose companion video featured a Whitesnake throwback and went on to top 1 million views in its first month on YouTube.
“We’ve got some really dark energy going on in the world right now, so we’re gonna write and record a fun, knees up, song about falling in love with a fabulous babe,” explained Coverdale. “You’re over-talking, over-compensating and she just looks at you, takes the reins and says, 'Shut Up And Kiss Me!' and that’s it!!
“My video director and creative partner Tyler Bourns and I discussed a great storyline for the video, which involves a surprise guest: my fabulous old white Jaguar. We ended up cleaning and detailing it, as it has been in storage since I moved to Lake Tahoe, then we dusted off my old turquoise silk jacket from the original ‘Here I Go Again’ video and I was thinking, "man, this is going to be fun!" It’s a respectful acknowledgment and positive nod to the past, just fun stuff.”
Whitesnake will return to the road in February for shows in Australia and New Zealand with the Scorpions before performing in Indonesia, Singapore and Japan the following month.

Queen drummer Roger Taylor named OBE on New Year’s Honours List
Queen drummer Roger Taylor has been named an Officer of the British Empire (OBE) as part of Queen Elizabeth’s New Year's Honours list.
A member of Queen since its formation in 1970, Taylor is being recognized for his services to music as part of the annual event, which also sees performers Elton John and Olivia Newton-John recognized for their work.
“Congratulations Rog OBE!!!,” posted guitarist Brian May on Instagram. “What does OBE mean? Well, for all you non-Brits, let me explain. The letters stand for ‘Order of the British Empire’ – a traditional honor presented to people who have achieved worthy things in the eyes of … well, the British Monarchy, under advice. It’s the beginning of a whole spectrum of honors.
“Next one up is the MBE – ‘Member of the British Empire’ – and above that is the CBE – ‘Commander of the British Empire’. The next level of the game is a KBE – a Knighthood – which entitles the recipient to be known as ‘Sir’. I received a KBE some years ago. It doesn’t change your life very much apart from giving you some letters to put after your name in correspondence!”
“The award which really moves you to a different place in Society is when they make you a LORD – which entitles you (or requires you) to sit in the House of Lords, participating in the passing of British laws and policies,” continued May. “So there ya go! Who decides these things? Well, it’s all done quietly behind closed doors by a small committee – but most awards have been lobbied for, by friends and colleagues who feel the person deserves recognition. Thanks, guys! Bri”
Queen were inducted into the Rock And Roll Hall Of Fame in 2001, and all four original members were inducted into the Songwriters Hall of Fame in 2003.

Rockers release Tom Petty tribute single for charity
Acclaimed musicians Jakob Dylan, Dhani Harrison, Amos Lee, Lukas Nelson, Micah Nelson and Willie Nelson have released a Tom Petty tribute single for charity in honor of the late rocker.
Billed as “For Real—For Tom”, the cover of Petty’s “For Real” – which was released earlier this year as part of “The Best Of Everything” compilation – will see all net proceeds benefit The Midnight Mission, a comprehensive homeless shelter and homeless services provider is Los Angeles that was very dear to Petty and for which he significantly supported throughout his career.
To donate and/or learn more about the organization, visit midnightmission.org.
The only previously-unreleased tune on the 2019 package was recorded in August of 2000 when Petty and The Heartbreakers went to producer Bill Bottrell’s studio near Mendocino, CA to record a new version of “Surrender” (originally written in 1976 but not included in the group’s self-titled debut that year) for the “Anthology: Through The Years” package.
Petty passed away in October of 2017 at the age of 66 in a Santa Monica, CA hospital after being found unconscious and in cardiac arrest at his Malibu home.

Nirvana: Smells Like Teen Spirit video hits 1 billion YouTube views
Nirvana’s 1991 smash, “Smells Like Teen Spirit”, has passed 1 billion views on YouTube.
The band announced the milestone achievement on social media, with bassist Krist Novoselic sharing the news with a retweet, adding “Thanks to you all!!!!”
Posted to YouTube in June of 2009, the clip reached the landmark view milestone in ten and a half years.
Directed by Samuel Bayer, the video filmed on a soundstage in Culver City, CA on August 17, 1991, just a few weeks before the song would be issued as the lead single from the Seattle outfit’s second studio album.
“Smells Like Teen Spirit” would reach No. 6 on the Billboard Hot 100 while “Nevermind” would go on to become the group’s first US chart-topper when it knocked Michael Jackson’s ”Dangerous” out of the No. 1 spot on the Billboard 200 after that record sold four million copies in its first month following release.
“Nevermind” would sell 30 million copies worldwide, including earning diamond status for US sales of more than 10 million.
With sales of more than 75 million albums worldwide, Nirvana were inducted into the Rock And Roll Hall Of Fame in 2014.
Thanks to you all!!!! https://t.co/QGiy3qX7CZ

Foo Fighters revisit The Colour And The Shape on new EP
The Foo Fighters revisit material from their 1997 album, “The Colour And The Shape”, on the latest EP from the band’s ongoing archive series.
“00979725” presents six songs from the era, including a slow version of “Up In Arms” and an acoustic take of “See You” – both previously available as b-sides to the set’s lead single, “Monkey Wrench”; “Dear Lover”, a b-side to the “My Hero” single; and, a single mix of “Walking After You” that appeared on “The X-Files: The Album”, a soundtrack to the 1998 film, “The X-Files.”
The EP also features a pair of live recordings from a May 1997 appearance at the BBC, including “I’ll Stick Around” and a cover of Killing Joke’s “Requiem” from that band’s 1980 eponymous debut studio album.
The Foo Fighters’ second record, “The Colour And The Shape” reached No. 10 on the US Billboard 200 on its way to sales of more than 2 million copies in the country.
The group launched the archival series in July as the band toured throughout 2019, with an eye to some new music in their future.
"Well, from what I've heard from our fearless leader, Dave Grohl, he has a lot of demos that he's worked on,” drummer Taylor Hawkins revealed during a stop in Glasgow, Scotland. “And I think we'll start, once this [European] tour is over... I think not too soon after that, we'll start the process of putting the songs together as a band.
"It's a long process – we do a lot of demoing and stuff – but I think that we'll have, I'm hoping, I think we'll have a new record by next year. We should."
Grohl confirmed the project during a September 28 headlining set at Rock In Rio in Brazil, where he told the crowd: “We go home next week and we start making a new Foo Fighters record. It's good, it's good."
The Foo Fighters and Alice Cooper are among the acts set to pay tribute to Aerosmith when the Boston band will be honored with the 2020 MusiCares Person Of The Year Award in January.

Black Sabbath guitarist Tony Iommi streams holiday greetings video

Black Sabbath guitarist Tony Iommi is streaming his annual holiday greeting video message to fans as 2019 winds down.
"Hello, here we are again. Another Christmas. And here I am, wearing a Black Sabbath Christmas sweater. How about that?,” Iommi begins. “Well, it's been an interesting year for me and Sabbath. We started off at the beginning of the year getting a Grammy award, a 'Lifetime Achievement' award, which is brilliant — I mean, it's really great; it's the highest award you can have, Grammy-wise.
“And then, a few months afterwards, or a month afterwards, I went to Armenia with Ian Gillan for the 30th anniversary of the Rock Aid Armenia, which was fabulous. We had a great time there. We went to visit the school that we built, and that was lovely. And see all the kids and see all the people. They looked after us amazingly. That was so nice.”
“And then, just recently, I went to Nashville, to the Gibson factory,” continues the rocker. “I was invited there by the new owners, who, I've gotta tell you, are great. And they're so enthusiastic — lovely people. And I went around the factory and met all the people that work there, and they're so dedicated to what they do — all of them there now. And the Gibson product is lifted a million times, I tell you. They're so good, and wanna do the best, which is great for guitar players. So, that was lovely.
"But, anyway, I'm here to wish you a very merry Christmas and a really happy new year. Have a great year, and I'll look forward to seeing you next year."
Three-quarters of the original Black Sabbath lineup reunited to receive their Grammy Lifetime Achievement Award during the "Grammy Salute To Music Legends" awards ceremony and live tribute concert at the Dolby Theatre in Los Angeles, CA on May 11.
Iommi, Geezer Butler and Bill Ward represented the groundbreaking metal outfit, while frontman Ozzy Osbourne missed the event as he continued to recover from surgery following an injury at his L.A. home.
In June, Iommi and Butler were on hand for the official naming ceremony and unveiling of the “Black Sabbath Bridge” in the band’s Birmingham, UK hometown; the unveiling coincided with a major Home Of Metal exhibition celebrating Black Sabbath and the band’s legacy, which ran throughout the summer at the Birmingham Museum and Art Gallery.
Earlier this month, Black Sabbath released a new box set highlighting their classic 1970s-era recordings; “Black Sabbath: The Vinyl Collection 1970-1978” is a 9LP package that delivers the group’s first eight studio albums alongside a mono singles collection.

Ozzy Osbourne shares behind the scenes look at Under The Graveyard video

Ozzy Osbourne is sharing some behind the scenes footage from the set of his new music video for the single, “Under The Graveyard.”
The official video was directed by Jonas Akerlund, who worked with Osbourne on clips for “Gets Me Through” from 2001’s “Down To Earth” and “Let Me Hear You Scream” from 2010’s ”Scream.”
Starring Jack Kilmer as Ozzy and Jessica Barden as Sharon Osbourne, “Under The Graveyard” tells the story of the rocker’s downfall with booze and drugs in the period after he was fired from Black Sabbath and before he was in any shape to organize a comeback as a solo artist.
The song will be featured on Osbourne’s forthcoming album “Ordinary Man”; due in January, the set was produced by guitarist Andrew Watt and includes appearances by Guns N’ Roses bassist Duff McKagan and Red Hot Chili Peppers drummer Chad Smith.
The singer’s No More Tours 2 series is scheduled to resume in Atlanta, GA on May 27.

Lindsey Buckingham announces first show since heart surgery
Lindsey Buckingham has announced his first show since undergoing open-heart surgery in February.
The guitarist will mark his return to the stage in May as part of the Beale Street Music Festival in Memphis. TN; the three-day event will also see appearances by The Lumineers, The Avett Brothers and Brittany Howard, among others.
Full festival details are available at memphisinmay.org.
Following his firing from Fleetwood Mac last year, the rocker toured in support of a career retrospective, “Solo Anthology - The Best Of Lindsey Buckingham.”

He made his first public appearance following the procedure in May when he accompanied his daughter, Leelee, and her classmates on the 1975 Fleetwood Mac classic, “Landslide”, during their high school graduation ceremony.

Whitesnake expand European tour
Whitesnake have expanded a spring 2020 European tour in support of their latest album, “Flesh & Blood.”
The band have added seven new shows – with guests Europe – to the 2020 schedule, with appearances in Poland, Lithuania, Estonia, Norway, Denmark, the Czech Republic and Switzerland.
Tickets for the new dates are on sale now.
The veteran band’s thirteenth studio set, “Flesh & Blood” was a top 10 album in several European countries upon its release this past spring.
The record was launched on Valentine’s Day 2019 with the lead single, "Shut Up & Kiss Me"; Whitesnake will release a limited-edition 12-inch picture-disc single of the track, "Always & Forever", on Valentine’s Day 2020.
"I love 'Always & Forever',” says singer David Coverdale. “That's a pretty new song. It's a relative of a song from the 'Forevermore' album, I think — one of my favorite Whitesnake songs, called 'Love Will Set You Free'. And this song came out of a meditation. I meditate every day, and it's an amazing time to receive channeled messages or whatever. And I go, 'Oh, thank you.' I love that, this little idea of floating by. And I started working on it.
“It's very traditional chords, but it's a really genuine love song. I really think it's gonna be one of those classic love songs in the vein of 'The Deeper The Love' and that kind of stuff. I'm very pleased with it."

Pink Floyd are streaming a video for an alternate version of their 1987 classic, “Learning To Fly”, from the newly-issued box set, “The Later Years 1987-2019.”
The tune was the lead single from the group’s thirteenth studio record, “A Momentary Lapse Of Reason”, which marked the first project from the UK outfit’s post-Roger Waters era; the set reached No. 3 on both the US and UK charts.
Serving as a companion to 2016's “The Early Years 1965–1972”, the new 5-CD/6-Blu-ray/5-DVD package includes an updated version of “A Momentary Lapse Of Reason”, an expanded edition of 1998’s live album, “Delicate Sound Of Thunder”, a series of 1987 & 1994 live recordings & unreleased studio recordings, and full versions of the group’s 1989 Venice Concert and 1990 appearance at Knebworth.

Motley Crue offshoot SixxAM release X-Mas In Hell lyric video
Motley Crue offshoot SixxAM have released a lyric video for “X-Mas In Hell”, a tune from their 20017 soundtrack to “The Heroin Diaries.”
When bassist Nikki Sixx’s memoir was published in 2007, it was the first book to be accompanied by a soundtrack; recorded by SixxAM, the 13 tracks on the record each correspond to one month of Sixx's diary, which he kept from 1986 to 1987 and formed the basis for the autobiography.
“X-Mas In Hell” is based on Sixx’s 1986 Christmas Day diary entry: “There is something about spending Christmas alone, naked, sitting by the Christmas tree gripping a shotgun, that lets you know your life is spinning dangerously outta control.”
Sixx’s 1987 overdose was re-enacted in Motley Crue’s 2019 Netflix biopic, “The Dirt.”
"I am trying to take things that happened in my life and turning them into positives,” explains the rocker. “Opioid Addiction usually ends in death and that is something we would like to turn around."
This past fall, SixxAM issued a new song, “Talk To Me”, in support of a campaign by the National Opioid Action Coalition to overcome the stigma plaguing the opioid use disorder.
Sixx and Motley Crue have reunited for a 2020 stadium tour with Def Leppard, Poison and Joan Jett & The Blackhearts that will open in San Antonio, TX on June 21.

Whitesnake release video for Flesh And Blood track Hey You (You Make Me Rock)

Whitesnake has released a video for “Hey You (You Make Me Rock)”, a track from their current album “Flesh & Blood.”
Billed as a Christmas gift for fans “in appreciation and gratitude for a fantastic year”, the clip delivers footage from the band’s 2019 world tour in support of their thirteenth studio record.
"This album, I'm really happy to say,” explains frontman David Coverdale, “contains a lot of what I would regard as Whitesnake anthems, total into the crowd, easy to remember, crowd involvement, which is what we love with the Whitesnake choir.
"I think this is gonna be a biggie. It's a great audience-involvement song about a beautiful, dangerous woman, of course, which is the very best kind."
Whitesnake will return to the road in February for shows in Australia and New Zealand with the Scorpions before performing in Indonesia, Singapore and Japan the following month and teaming up with Foreigner for UK dates starting in late May.

David Gilmour is revisiting a host of previously-unreleased material in Pink Floyd’s newly-issued box set, “The Later Years 1987-2019”, in the fourth and final installment in the band’s limited-edition podcast series, “The Lost Art Of Conversation.”
Beyond a number of remixed studio and live records from the era, the 5-CD/6-Blu-ray/5-DVD package delivers over 13 hours of unreleased audio and audiovisual content.
The set presents a number of studio recordings from sessions for 1994’s “The Division Bell”, live material from the group’s 1987 and 1994 tours, the sought-after 1989 Venice and 1990 Knebworth concerts, as well as 5.1 surround sound mixes and high-resolution stereo mixes, single B-sides and memorabilia.
While 2014’s “The Endless River” album marked the band’s final studio release following Richard Wright’s passing in 2008, a companion film by Ian Emes makes its debut in the 2019 box set, which is rounded out by hours of unreleased bonus materials including music videos, documentary footage, bonus live tracks, upgraded tour screen films and documentaries.
It includes the first ever release, on Blu-ray, DVD and 7” vinyl, of the last live performance of Pink Floyd with Gilmour, Wright and Nick Mason together - a special performance of "Arnold Layne" took place at the Syd Barrett Tribute Concert at The Barbican in 2007.

Ozzy Osbourne debuts Under The Graveyard video

Ozzy Osbourne is streaming a newly-released music video for his single, “Under The Graveyard.”
Directed by Jonas Akerlund, the clip – which stars Jack Kilmer as Ozzy and Jessica Barden as Sharon Osbourne – tells the story of the rocker’s downfall in the period after he was fired from Black Sabbath in April of 1979.
“Jonas developed the story into a ‘mini movie,’” says Ozzy. “But, to be quite honest, it’s hard for me to watch because it takes me back to some of the darkest times in my life.
"Thankfully Sharon was there to pick me up and believe in me. It was the first time she was there to fully support me and build me back up, but it certainly wasn’t the last.”
“Under The Graveyard” recently captured the No. 1 position on the US Rock Radio Chart and has eclipsed 5.4 million streams worldwide; the song marks Osbourne’s third No. 1 on this chart and his first in 10 years.
The tune will be featured on Osbourne’s forthcoming album “Ordinary Man”; due in January, the set was produced by guitarist Andrew Watt and includes guest appearances by Guns N’ Roses bassist Duff McKagan and Red Hot Chili Peppers drummer Chad Smith.

Rock News Artist of The Year No. 1 – THE ROLLING STONES
The Rolling Stones ended last year with details of a 2019 tour of North America that would open in Miami in late spring.
Mick Jagger shared video of himself in February playing along with what appears to be new music from the band, in his home recording studio.
The following month, Keith Richards released an expanded 30th anniversary reissue of his 1988 solo debut, “Talk Is Cheap”,while the Stones prepared to issue a new best-of collection, “Honk”, in sync with the spring tour.
In late March, the group made headlines when it was revealed that the tour would be postponed in order for Jagger to undergo heart valve replacement surgery, which he did successfully in a New York hospital on April 4.
The 75-year-old rocker shared an update on things following the procedure before making his first public appearance at an event two weeks later, with bandmate Ronnie Wood revealing how he and Richards supported him throughout the process as Jagger streamed a workout video the following month.
In May, the Stones announced rescheduled dates for the North American tour that would start with two shows in Chicago, IL in June, the same month the group reissued their 1968 concert special, “Rock And Roll Circus”, and released “Bridges To Bremen”, a live package from their 1997-98 Bridges To Babylon tour.
The band occasionally delivered some rare tracks during the summer series, including playing “Mercy, Mercy” for the first time in 50 years during a July 3 show in Landover, MD; jamming with Gary Clark Jr. in Foxborough, MA on July 7; performing their 1973 classic, “Doo Doo Doo Doo Doo (Heartbreaker)”, in Houston, TX on July 27; the 1967 rarity, “She’s A Rainbow”, in East Rutherford, NJ on August 1; their cover of the R&B classic, “Harlem Shuffle”, for the first time in almost three decades during an August 5 show in East Rutherford, NJ; their 1967 classic, “She’s A Rainbow”, at the Rose Bowl Stadium in Pasadena, CA on August 22; and the 2019 No Filter tour debut of their 1965 classic, “Get Off Of My Cloud”, in Glendale, AZ on August 26 before wrapping up the tour in Miami, FL on August 30 after moving the event up by a day due to the oncoming Hurricane Dorian.
The 2019 series joined 2005-07’s A Bigger Bang Tour to earn the Stones the distinction of becoming the first act to gross more than $400 million on two separate treks.
Jagger was featured in “The Burnt Orange Heresy”, a new film starring Claes Bang, Elizabeth Debicki and Donald Sutherland, that closed the 76th Venice International Film Festival in September.
November saw the Stones release a 50th anniversary edition of their 1969 album, “Let It Bleed”, and “Bridges To Buenos Aires”, a live package capturing the band in a 1998 concert in Argentina.
Wood’s extensive career was featured in a new documentary entitled “Somebody Up There Likes Me” as Jagger reissued his catalog of solo albums on vinyl in December.
