Def Leppard release video for Let’s Go

Def Leppard have issued a video for “Let’s Go”, the lead single from their newly-released self-titled album.

The group’s 11th record and first new album in 7 years marks the follow-up to 2008’s “Songs From The Sparkle Lounge.”

“We made this record as an artistic statement that we'd be happy to play in 10 or 15 years in time and go ‘You know what? That is a great record. That was a great period in our career’,” says frontman Joe Elliott. “You just have to wait for the stars to be aligned. For this new album, they seemed to have been for us, because we all played and sang great and wrote well.

“There's some great variety on there. Every single aspect of anything we've ever wanted to put out — acoustic, heavy, soft, slow, fast — it's there. That's why we call it 'Def Leppard' because, just like Queen were, we're capable of coming up with vastly different kinds of songs.

Def Leppard hit the road in November for dates in Japan, Australia and Singapore, and will then perform a UK tour in December with Whitesnake and Black Star Riders.

The UK rockers will kick off 2016 with a US tour in the New Year with Styx and Tesla.

Motley Crue has no plans to record new music after farewell tour

Nikki Sixx says Motley Crue have no plans to write and record new music following their final concert as a band on December 31 in Los Angeles.

"In my opinion, yes, we're breaking up,” Sixx tells Cindy Scull of 97.1 The Eagle Rocks in Dallas/Ft. Worth. “We're done as a touring band. If you don't tour, you're not a band in a sense. Will we re-release our songs? Will they come out in movies? But I don't believe we're a band anymore after that.”

Sixx explains there needs to be a reason to justify the group’s time and energy to make new music.

"I mean, the door's not shut,” says the bassist. “But my belief is you make music to tour. And, you know, nowadays music is not the sole purpose anymore, even though we all love music and we live music.

“But what I'm doing right now with my other band, SIXX: A.M., I'm making a double album, and I'm gonna go on tour for two years. And music is a way to get people to come see the band to play the music for them, but in the end, the music isn't like what it used to be. Now you put a record out so you can tour."

Sixx reflects on his impression of how Motley Crue may operate once their live career is over after the 2-year farewell tour comes to an end.

"I think Motley Crue will be a brotherhood and not a band,” he adds. “We're gonna call each other and say things like, 'Hey, this movie's coming up. What do you think? We can put one of our songs in it. It'll be the tenth anniversary of us breaking up.' But I don't see a purpose to go in the studio and write songs."

Drummer Tommy Lee has missed the past five dates on the farewell run as he continues to recover from a case of tendonitis.

Lee was first diagnosed with the injury to his left wrist in Buffalo, NY on October 14 and was pulled from the show on doctor’s orders.

Alice Cooper drummer Glen Sobel filled in for Lee at the group’s final show in the city, and sat in again in Bridgeport, CT on October 16, Manchester, NH on October 17, Bangor, ME on October 18 and Quebec City on October 20.

Motley Crue are enjoying a 2-week break before playing a 3-week run of shows in the UK and Europe.

The band will then launch the final month of a farewell tour that will see them wrap up their live career with three shows in late December at the Staples Center in Los Angeles before closing things out on New Year’s Eve.

Foo Fighters launch online countdown clock

The Foo Fighters have launched a countdown clock on their website.

Set to expire on November 23, the clock appears alongside the band’s logo on a U.S. highway-style road sign while some audio of people mumbling in the background rolls.

There’s no further information on what the clock represents as fans speculate on a possible upcoming announcement.

Earlier this month, the Foo Fighters recorded new material in Austin, TX while in town to perform as part of the annual Austin City Limits Music Festival.

“You know what I did last night?”, Dave Grohl told the crowd at Zilker Park during the October 9 show. “I recorded a song in your beautiful city of Austin, Texas. And I’m just gonna say it now: We recorded five new songs in your beautiful city of Austin, Texas. We’re gonna give it to you, but not tonight.”

The Foo Fighters will wrap up the world tour in support of 2014’s “Sonic Highways” in Barcelona, Spain on November 19.

The final run includes a November 3 show in the Italian town of Cesena after 1000 fans performed their 1999 hit, “Learn To Fly”, on July 26 in hopes of convincing the group to perform in their city.

Organizer Fabio Zaffagnini spent a year planning the massive outdoor event to create a video as a plea to the Foo Fighters to come to Cesena.

The clip quickly went viral, racking up more than 18 million views in just 5 days; it’s now been seen more than 26 million times.

Ritchie Blackmore to play 2016 rock show in the UK

Ritchie Blackmore will play one of three rock shows next year in the UK.

The guitarist recently announced appearances at a pair of Monsters Of Rock festivals in Germany next June, and there’s been speculation about a live return at the UK’s Download event.

“Rainbow will only be playing three shows in 2016: two in Germany and one in the UK,” Blackmore‘s agent, Alec Leslie, tells Metal Shock Finland. “The UK performance will not be at Download Festival.”

Leslie confirmed the guitarist’s third rock performance next year will be announced on November 2.

The rare series of rock shows by Blackmore – where he’ll feature the Best of Rainbow and Deep Purple – follow years of work with Blackmore’s Night, a medieval folk band he formed in 1997 with then-girlfriend and now-wife Candice Night.

"I'm now 70, so I just felt like playing some rock 'n' roll for a few days,” the guitarist told Billboard. “We're going to do four or five dates" — most likely in England, Germany and Sweden — "of just playing the old rock stuff, Purple stuff and Rainbow. I'm doing it for the fans, for nostalgia, and the singer I found is very exciting; he's a cross between Ronnie James Dio meets Freddie Mercury. So this will mean exposing a new singer to the masses, and I'm sure he'll become pretty famous because of his voice."

Deep Purple were recently named among the nominees for induction into the 2016 Rock And Roll Hall Of Fame.

The band are under consideration among 14 other artists for one of five spots in the Cleveland-based institution alongside Cheap Trick, Yes, The Cars and Steve Miller, among others.

Def Leppard preview Let’s Go video

Def Leppard have issued a preview of the video for “Let’s Go”, the lead single from their forthcoming self-titled album.

The full clip will be available on October 30, the same day the band releases the follow-up to 2008’s “Songs From The Sparkle Lounge.”

“It has that swaggering, mid-tempo rhythm, like ‘Pour Some Sugar On Me’ and ‘Rock Of Ages’,” says Joe Elliott. "The idea was, we wanted something familiar. I mean, when AC/DC comes back after years away, you're not going to get ‘Bohemian Rhapsody’ from 'em, you know? And you don't want it, either — you want ‘Back In Black,’ or something like it. For us, this is what we do. And it's something we enjoy doing.

“It's a call to arms, you know? Rick Savage wrote 80 percent of the song. I wrote the verses, he wrote all the music and the choruses. He came in with it, and we knew it was a classic Def Leppard song.”

Def Leppard recently announced dates for a US tour in the New Year with Styx and Tesla.

The trio just wrapped up an extensive series of fall North American shows and will regroup for another round starting January 27 in Greensboro, NC.

Black Sabbath add German festival dates to farewell tour

Black Sabbath have added a pair of festival dates to their farewell tour of Europe.

Over the June 3-5, 2016 weekend, the band will perform at Germany’s Rock Am Ring and Rock Im Park events.

Both festivals share the same lineup over the course of the three days.

Tickets for both events will go on sale on October 30 at noon local time.

Black Sabbath’s 2016 tour, billed as “The End”, marks the group’s final series of live shows after a five-decade career.

The extensive run begins January 20 in Omaha, NE before dates in Australia, New Zealand, Europe and a return to North America.

Guitarist Tony Iommi recently revealed that his cancer issues have brought about the need for the farewell run after five decades on the road.

“I can’t actually do this anymore,” said Iommi. “My body won’t take it much more.”

The 67-year old – who was diagnosed with blood cancer lymphoma in January of 2012 – continues to have regular checkups on the health issue.

“I have finished my courses of treatment,” he says. “Now it’s a case of keeping tabs on things. I have the blood tests every six weeks, and then there’s a bigger check-up every now and then to make sure that all is still well. I have my next one in a couple of weeks, and hopefully everything will be fine.

“It’s horrible. I even dream about it. But that’s my life now. The surgeon told me he doesn’t expect the cancer to go away. There’s a 30 per cent chance that it could, but more than likely it will come back and it could be any time. I could be here another 10 years or just one year – I don’t know.”

David Gilmour premieres Faces Of Stone video

David Gilmour is debuting a video for “Faces Of Stone”, a track from his latest solo album, “Rattle That Lock.”

It’s a personal song by the Pink Floyd guitarist about the end of a life and a beginning of another.

"Towards the end of my mother’s life, when she was suffering from dementia," Gilmour explains, “there was a brief crossover period of about 9 months, when she was alive and my daughter was newly born: this song is a musing on that time.

“Specifically it refers to a walk in the park where my mother was ‘seeing’ pictures, or ‘faces of stone’, hanging in the trees.”

“Faces Of Stone” is the fourth video issued from “Rattle That Lock”, following the title track, “Today”, and “The Girl In The Yellow Dress.”

Gilmour launched a world tour in support of the record with a September 5 warm-up show in Brighton, UK before playing a sold-out 11-date European tour that included five shows at The Royal Albert Hall in London.

The guitarist will next perform dates in South America this December ahead of a North American run in the spring of 2016.

Rush are premiering a performance of their 1980 classic, “The Spirit Of Radio”, as a preview to the forthcoming “R40 Live” release.

The track was the lead single from the group’s seventh album, “Permanent Waves”, which became the band’s first US Top 5 record when it peaked at No. 4 on the Billboard 200.

Due November 20, “R40 Live” captures Rush in concert in their hometown of Toronto over two nights this past June.

Named after their 40th anniversary box set, “R40”, the tour may be the last one of its size for Rush.

"It's most likely our last tour," said bassist/vocalist Geddy Lee. "I couldn't put it any more accurately. I can't say for sure. But it doesn’t mean we don't want to work together still, it doesn't mean we won't do another creative project and I've got ideas for shows we could do that don't involve a tour."

Sammy Hagar performed Van Halen's 1991 classic, “Right Now”, during a special halftime performance at the San Francisco 49ers vs. Seattle Seahawks game at Levi's Stadium in Santa Clara, CA on October 22.

Hagar was joined by guitarist Vic Johnson for the event, which was broadcast as part of CBS’ Thursday Night Football lineup.

While Hagar’s set was not shown by CBS, the Red Rocker has recently made claims that Alex and Eddie Van Halen are trying to prevent him from performing songs from the band’s Van Hagar-era.

Hagar continues to play material from his time in the group when he performs solo and with any of the supergroups he’s a part of – the latest being The Circle, with bassist Michael Anthony, drummer Jason Bonham and guitarist Vic Johnson.

Hagar says he discovered the issue when he was a taping of his appearance on Live From Daryl’s House with Daryl Hall earlier this year.

“I'd like this to be known,” Hagar told Rolling Stone, “the Van Halen brothers will not allow me to do any of my own songs on TV. They can't stop me from doing them live, because they've tried and they can't. They want to pretend like Van Hagar never existed. The only Number One albums they've had in their life, and they want to pretend like they never happened. I don't know why they hate me so bad, but I guess I'm too happy for them.

“Yes, it's true. They wouldn't let me do them. I can hire an attorney and fight them and I'm going too, but I didn't have time to do that then. On the new Circle DVD we're making from the live album, Led Zeppelin agreed to let us use their music. And Van Halen said, ‘No.’ And then I said,I don't need to do this to survive, and thank God, because otherwise, they would starve me out like I think they're trying to do.”

“It's unbelievable that Led Zeppelin lets us cover their songs on TV and anywhere else,” he continues, “and the brothers won't let me sing my songs. And why? 'Cause they can't do them anymore. Without me, they can't play those songs, and they're jealous. And that's the thing that gives me comic relief out of the whole thing.”

David Bowie confirms Blackstar album release

David Bowie has officially confirmed plans to release a new album, “Blackstar”, on his 69th birthday in January.

Following various media reports speculating about the project, Bowie’s camp issued word the album will be available on January 8 and that the title track will be the lead single and due for release on November 20.

The singer also confirmed that, contrary to reports, the song is not part of his new stage musical, “Lazarus”, which will see its world premiere this fall in New York starting November 18.

Earlier this month, Bowie previewed the "Blackstar" title track as the theme for a new crime series, The Last Panthers, premiering on Sky Atlantic in November.

A portion of the tune can be heard over the opening credits to the 6-episode program, which will star Samantha Morton, Tahar Rahim and John Hurt when it debuts on November 12.

The singer’s latest studio effort, “The Next Day”, was issued in 2013 and marked Bowie’s first album in a decade; the record peaked at No. 2 on the US Billboard 200.

Fleetwood Mac to release expanded reissue of Tusk

Fleetwood Mac will release an expanded reissue of their 1979 double album, “Tusk”, on December 4.

The band’s 12th record had the onerous task of following up their most successful record, 1977’s “Rumours.”

“Tusk” peaked at No. 4 on the US Billboard 200 on its way to sales of more than 2 million copies in the States, helped by the success of singles like “Sara” and “Think About Me.”

Now, Fleetwood Mac revisits “Tusk” with a 5CD/1DVD/2 LP Deluxe Edition featuring the remastered original album and a complete alternate version from session outtakes, as well as an additional selection of singles, demos and remixes, and 22 unreleased live performances from the band’s 1979 Tusk tour; a 5.1 surround mix on DVD-Audio and vinyl of the original album on 2-LPs rounds out the set.

A 3CD Expanded Edition presents the same elements as the Deluxe Edition without the 2-discs of live material, while a 1-disc remastered version will also be available.

Fleetwood Mac are currently playing dates in Australia as part of The On With The Show Tour, which sees the return of keyboardist Christine McVie to create a reunion of the group’s hugely successful mid-1970s lineup.

Anthrax premiere Evil Twin from forthcoming album

Anthrax are premiering a lyric video for “Evil Twin”, the lead track from their forthcoming album.

Due in early 2016, the untitled project is the follow up to 2011's Grammy-nominated “Worship Music.”

"Let's forget for a moment the history of radical extremism and why we live in a world where it exists and just think about now," guitarist Scott Ian tells Rolling Stone. "That's what 'Evil Twin' is about. It's my relationship to the violence perpetrated by radical extremists. It's my anger towards it and it's my hatred towards the inability to stop it."

Anthrax have been in the studio much of this year working on the release, which marks the debut of former Shadows Fall lead guitarist Jon Donais, who replaced Rob Caggiano following his departure in 2013.

On November 20, Anthrax will release an expanded 30th anniversary edition of 1985’s “Spreading The Disease.”

Produced by the group with Carl Canedy, the project marked the first Anthrax album to feature singer Joey Belladonna and bassist Frank Bello and included classics like “Madhouse”, “Armed & Dangerous” and “The Enemy.”

VIDEO: Lenny Kravitz premieres Strut from new live DVD

Lenny Kravitz has issued a performance of the title track to his 2014 album, “Strut”, from his newly-released live concert film, “Just Let Go.”

“Strut” – which peaked at No. 19 on the US Billboard 200 – was the rocker’s tenth studio album and first since 2011’s “Black And White America.”

“The record brought me back to a place of what I love so much about music, back to the feelings I had when I was in high school,” he explains. “It’s a real rock & roll record – it’s raw, it’s got soul and it came together really quickly.”

“Strut” is the third track issued from “Just Let Go” following “The Chamber” and his 1993 smash, “Are You Gonna Go My Way.”

“Just Let Go” was filmed over three months in late 2014 during the European leg of the singer's world tour in support of the project.

Ritchie Blackmore confirms second Best Of Rainbow & Deep Purple show

Guitarist Ritchie Blackmore has confirmed the second in a series of Best of Rainbow and Deep Purple shows planned for 2016.

Blackmore will perform at the Monsters Of Rock festival in Loreley, Germany on June 17 ahead of his previously-announced appearance at the same event in Bietigheim-Bissingen, Germany on June 18.

Tickets for both festivals will go on sale November 6.

Blackmore departed Deep Purple for the second time in 1993 and has been focusing his energies since 1997 on Blackmore’s Night, a medieval folk bandhe formed with then-girlfriend and now-wife Candice Night.

"I'm now 70, so I just felt like playing some rock 'n' roll for a few days,” the guitarist tells Billboard. “We're going to do four or five dates" — most likely in England, Germany and Sweden — "of just playing the old rock stuff, Purple stuff and Rainbow.

"I'm doing it for the fans, for nostalgia, and the singer I found is very exciting; he's a cross between Ronnie James Dio meets Freddie Mercury. So this will mean exposing a new singer to the masses, and I'm sure he'll become pretty famous because of his voice."

Deep Purple were recently named among the nominees for induction into the 2016 Rock And Roll Hall Of Fame.
