Led Zeppelin premiere Trampled Under Foot interactive video

Led Zeppelin are premiering an interactive video for the previously unreleased rough mix of "Trampled Under Foot”, as featured on the recent expanded reissue of their 1975 release, “Physical Graffiti.”

The band hooked up with media and technology company Interlude for the project, which allows users to click on any of the album cover’s 16 windows to unlock footage of events that pay homage to the window illustrations on the original artwork.

Billed as “Brandy & Coke (Trampled Under Foot - Initial Rough Mix)”, the track is included on the companion disc of bonus material – which also includes a recently-debuted rough mix of “Houses Of The Holy.”

The expanded reissue “Physical Graffiti” debuted at No. 11 on the US Billboard 200 and at No. 6 on the UK charts.

VIDEO: Van Halen – David Lee Roth injured during Jimmy Kimmel performance

Van Halen frontman David Lee Roth injured himself during the opening number of the band’s performance on ABC-TV’s Jimmy Kimmel Live on Monday.

Hitting the stage to perform their 1984 hit, “Panama”, Roth cut his nose with the microphone sometime during the song’s first verse. The singer could be seen wiping blood away as the song continued, with Roth eventually going sidestage to grab a towel in an attempt to clean it up and prevent further bleeding.

The singer left the stage during the track before returning to advise the crowd of his injury and apologized as the group took a short break before restarting the performance after Roth was outfitted with a bandage across his nose.

Van Halen then ran through a greatest hits set that included “Panama”, “Runnin’ With The Devil”, “Hot For Teacher”, “Eruption”, “You Really Got Me”, “Dance The Night Away”, Unchained” and “Ain’t Talkin’ ‘Bout Love.”

The late night show will broadcast material from the mini-concert over two nights – Monday and Tuesday.

On Monday, the program aired footage of “Panama”, “Runnin’ With The Devil” and a portion of “Dance The Night Away”, which saw Roth invite a girl up from the crowd to dance.

Van Halen will launch a North American tour in support of the live album in Seattle on July 5.

The group are also scheduled to perform on the Ellen DeGeneres Show on Thursday, April 2.

Scott Weiland guitarist Jeremy Brown dead at 34

Scott Weiland and The Wildabouts
(L-R Tommy Black, Scott Weiland, Danny Thompson, Jeremy Brown)

Scott Weiland and The Wildabouts guitarist Jeremy Brown died of undisclosed causes on Monday at the age of 34.

The singer broke the news via Facebook.

“We received a call today about my friend Jeremy Brown that has shaken me to the core,” wrote Weiland. “We were all concerned this afternoon when Jeremy didn’t show up for a long-scheduled rehearsal for tonight’s album release show at School Night. An hour later, Jeremy’s family called us to say that he had passed away.

“I am in shock right now, everyone that knows him is devastated. It is a terrible loss that goes beyond words. He is one of my best friends, a truest friend and one of the most gifted guitar players that I’ve ever known. A true genius.

“It’s impossible to explain how much he will be missed and what a hole this will leave in our hearts. A post on Facebook feels so trite and small compared to the love that I have for him and for the talent that has passed on but I felt it was necessary to at least start here. Please keep his family in your thoughts.”

The tragic news comes as Weiland and the band release their debut album, “Blaster”, today.

The 12-track set was produced by Rick Parker (Black Rebel Motorcycle Club) and recorded at Weiland's Lavish Studios and the Sandbox in Los Angeles.

Megadeth confirm new drummer

After months of rumors and speculation, Megadeth have officially confirmed Lamb Of God drummer Chris Adler will join the band as a guest player on their new studio album.

"Chris is a tremendous talent, and an amazing person,” says leader Dave Mustaine. “He is going to bring a new level of excitement and energy to Megadeth that the fans are going to lose their minds over. I have nothing but respect for my previous drummers, but this is going to absolutely KILL! Back in 1989, Megadeth originally worked as a three piece — guitar, bass and drums — when we laid down the framework to our Grammy-nominated platinum album 'Rust In Peace'.

“I want to thank the other members of Lamb Of God for allowing this opportunity to take place for all of us in the metal community."

“Chris has been an endearing friend to us in Megadeth for many years now, and he truly appreciates our music and its legacy,” adds bassist David Ellefson. “His drumming has forged such an innovative and ferocious path for metal music and I'm very proud that he is anchoring our rhythm section with us on this new album. I can clearly see a new dawn of 'utmost heaviness' unfolding in Megadeth's next chapter."

Adler steps in to the studio lineup for the follow-up to 2013’s “Super Collider”, following the departure of Shawn Drover.

Adler expressed his excitement about working with a group that inspired his own musical direction.

"Megadeth was the game changer for me,” he explains. “Growing up, there was no other band that meant as much to my musical interest and direction. There is no doubt I would not be doing what I have been doing for the past three decades had I not stumbled across 'Killing Is My Business' and the bible of all metal, 'Peace Sells' in my formative years. About 10 years ago, Lamb Of God toured with Megadeth and I was able to share that story with Dave and David, and we have kept in touch ever since.

“When Dave called me a while ago and asked if I was interested in making a thrash metal album with him, I felt like I must've been on a hidden camera show. I was trying to play it cool, but I was speechless other than YES! Once I called my wife and my band guys to let everyone know, I had some time to really think about it and how I can best fit into this situation. I'm coming into this on fire.

“There is an incredible amount of respect, but the goal here is to make the very best thrash album we can — not just throw names in the CD booklet or be a yes man. Together, I believe we can do something very special! Get ready for a very exciting chapter in the Megadeth legacy."

Guitarist Chris Broderick announced his exit from the group within hours of Drover’s news last fall, and while there remains no official word from Megadeth as to their plans for a replacement, Mustaine recently revealed that he was holding auditions to fill the position.

Rumors have been circulating that guitarist Kiko Loureiro from the Brazilian band Angra may be involved in the new album.

Judas Priest to enter Wisconsin Area Music Industry Awards Hall Of Fame

Judas Priest will be inducted into the Wisconsin Area Music Industry Awards (WAMI) Hall of Fame during a ceremony at the Turner Hall Ballroom in Milwaukee on April 19.

The event, which recognizes achievements in 34 music categories, will see Priest honored as the first recipient of a Global “Honorary” WAMI Hall Of Fame induction.

“In keeping with WAMI’s mission to promote music and the accomplishments of musicians,” says WAMI President Zoy Begos, “we’re stepping beyond state boundaries by recognizing Judas Priest’s contributions to the local, national and international music scenes.

“WAMI is proud to have Judas Priest as our first ever Global Honorary inductee into the WAMI Hall of Fame. When I contacted the band several months ago, their reaction was enthusiastic. We’ll formally acknowledge their induction during the 35th Annual Awards Show, April 19 at Turner Hall.”

Judas Priest will not be present at the event; full details are available at wamimusic.com

Wisconsin has frequently been included on Judas Priest’s toruing schedule; fans recall the iconic concerts at Alpine Valley in the 1980s, as well as their historic 30th Anniversary British Steel performance at Milwaukee’s Summerfest on the Harley-Davidson Stage in 2009.

2015 will see Priest perform at least two Wisconsin shows, including a July 16 appearance at the Rock USA festival in Oshkosh and a July 18 performance at Rock-Fest in Cadott.

Judas Priest are touring in support of their latest album “Redeemer Of Souls.”

The band recently released a 30th anniversary expanded edition of their 1984 album, “Defenders Of The Faith”, which includes a remastered version of the original record along with a complete live recording from the ‘Defenders’ tour from the Long Beach Arena in California.

Van Halen preview You Really Got Me from Tokyo Dome Live In Concert

Van Halen have issued a preview of the cover of The Kinks classic, “You Really Got Me”, as the latest track from their first live album with David Lee Roth, “Tokyo Dome Live In Concert.”

The super-charged lead single from Van Halen’s groundbreaking 1978 self-titled debut introduced the California band to the world, delivering a US Top 40 hit on its way to selling more than 10 million albums in the States alone.

Due March 31, “Tokyo Dome Live In Concert” captures the group at the Japanese venue on June 21, 2013.

The package features a 25-song set of material from the band’s original, classic era and 2012’s “A Different Kind Of Truth”, the group’s first studio album with Roth in almost 30 years.

“Tokyo Dome Live In Concert” will be available as a double CD, four-LP set on 180-gram vinyl, and digitally.

A deluxe collection featuring the live album and newly remastered versions of their 1978 debut and 6th album, “1984”, will also be available as both a four-CD set and a six-LP vinyl set in special packaging.

Gene Simmons slams artists who use backing tracks

Gene Simmons is slamming artists who use pre-recording backing tracks, despite the fact that KISS have done so at least twice in the past six months.

“I have a problem when you charge $100 to see a live show and the artist uses backing tracks,” Simmons tells Australia’s News.com.au. “It’s like the ingredients in food, if the first ingredient on the label is sugar that’s at least honest. It should be on every ticket — you’re paying $100, 30 to 50 per cent of the show is (on) backing tracks and they’ll sing sometimes, sometimes they’ll lip synch. At least be honest. It’s not about backing tracks, it’s about dishonesty.”

“There’s nobody with a synthesiser on our stage, there’s no samples on the drums, there’s nothing,” he added. “There’s very few bands who do that now — AC/DC, Metallica, us. I can’t even say that about U2 or the Stones. There’s very few bands who don’t use (backing) tracks.”

65-year old Simmons and KISS have performed with backing tracks twice in recent months.

In November, KISS mimed a performance of “Rock And Roll All Night” as part of the 88th Annual Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade in New York City – watch the video below.

Last month, KISS admitted to using backing tracks while performing its new single, "Samurai Son", during a Japanese tour.

KISS will launch a South American tour next month before heading to Europe for shows starting May 29 in Munich, Germany.

Van Halen premiere Jump from Tokyo Dome Live In Concert

Van Halen are premiering their 1984 hit, “Jump”, as a preview to the March 31 release of “Tokyo Dome Live In Concert.”

The lead single from Van Halen's sixth album, “1984”, delivered the band their first and only US No. 1 hit, which topped the US Billboard Hot 100 chart for five weeks, leading the album to sales of more than 12 million copies in the States alone.

Van Halen will launch the live album with a special March 30 concert for ABC-TV’s Jimmy Kimmel Live on Hollywood Boulevard.

The band’s first U.S. television performance with original lead singer David Lee Roth will be recorded for broadcast over two nights - March 30 and March 31.

Van Halen are also scheduled to perform on the Ellen DeGeneres Show on April 2.

This week, Van Halen announced dates for an extensive North American tour in support of the live album, which was recorded in Japan in 2013 on the band’s “A Different Kind Of Truth” tour.

Rush: The Art Of Rush book announced

Rush has announced the upcoming release of “The Art Of Rush”, a 272-page coffee table book that delves into the 40 year relationship with Rush and their longtime artist and illustrator Hugh Syme.

With a foreward by Rush drummer and lyricist Neil Peart, the project features interviews with each band member as Syme shares original illustrations, paintings, photography, and the stories behind each album that he has designed with the band since 1975.

Some of the stories include: furtively crossing the border for a guerilla-style shoot for 1977’s “A Farewell To Kings”, trying to herd a warren of rabbits for the cover of 1989’s “Presto”, descending into the depths of an autopsy lab to find a brain for 1978’s “Hemispheres”, building a pool inside Hugh's studio for 1996’s “Test For Echo”, and a stunt involving fire, whiskey and photographer Deborah Samuel for 1981’s “Moving Pictures.” But no history of the band's art would be complete without the story of the creation of arguably the band's most iconic image, The Starman, and cover art for 1976’s “2112.”

"From the first time Hugh and I met, we shared a level of communication that would sustain us through all the years of discussing art by long distance,” says Peart. “We had the same values and tastes in images and design, and simply spoke the same language. That's why I off-handedly referred to him one time as ‘serving a life sentence as my art director."

The pre-order for the Art Of Rush book will begin on Friday, March 27 at 10 am ET at Rushbackstage.com

Rush will launch a North American tour on May 8 in Tulsa, OK.

The 2015 trek is named after Rush’s 40th anniversary box set, “R40.”

AC/DC guitarist Malcolm Young buys $10M home

Retired AC/DC guitarist Malcolm Young and his wife, Linda, have reportedly purchased a AU$10 million waterfront home in the Sydney suburb of Palm Beach.

The Daily Telegraph reports the five-bedroom home is on an absolute beachfront site of about 520sq m and is among many multimillion-dollar properties in the street.

The sale is the biggest on the northern beaches this year.

Palm Beach is Sydney's northernmost stretch of sand, a 50-minute drive from the Sydney city centre.

Malcolm formed AC/DC with brother Angus in November of 1973.

On April 16, 2014, AC/DC first issued a statement regarding the band’s status and future in the wake of rumors surrounding Malcolm’s health and the band’s possible retirement.

“After forty years of life dedicated to AC/DC, guitarist and founding member Malcolm Young is taking a break from the band due to ill health,” posted the band. “Malcolm would like to thank the group’s diehard legions of fans worldwide for their never-ending love and support.”

“In light of this news,” they added, “AC/DC asks that Malcolm and his family’s privacy be respected during this time. The band will continue to make music.”

The group later announced the guitarist’s retirement while confirming that he had been diagnosed with dementia.

A report in September indicated Malcolm was receiving full-time care for dementia in a nursing home facility in Sydney's eastern suburbs specializing in the health issue.

AC/DC moved forward last spring, brought in nephew Stevie Young and released “Rock Or Bust” in December.

The band will launch their 2015 live dates at Coachella on Friday April 10 and Friday April 17 before opening a European tour in Arnhem, Netherlands on May 5.

A North American run starts August 22 at Gillette Stadium in Foxborough, Massachusetts.
